Great video, thank you! I appreciated your note that it is better to put on tefillin and say shema and nothing else if the alternative is not putting them on at all. It’s a good place to start.
Terrific demo. Couple questions: Do Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian and Libyan Jews all follow more or less the same customs? Also how do Moroccans pronounce the ayin, the quf and the het? It seems to me that Maghrebim pronounce the tzaddi as tz just like Ashkenazim do not the back of the teeth ss like Sephardi and Edot HaMizrah do. Also I’m sure when you’re in a room with others youre careful not to hit anyone else with your tzitzit when you put on the tallit.
Bueno, Sefardí siempre significa Español por que Sefarad es España, los Sefardíes Marroquíes son de Orígenes Españoles, un saludo desde Sefarad, España🇪🇸
I wrap almost every day. I was taught and Ashkenazi style but this Moroccan Sephardic method seems to speak to me in a better way. Is it ok to adapt this style?
Yes that is the order the rabbi's have concluded. However there are opinions that say if you touched your tefillin first you should put them on prior to the talit.
One correction: if one spoke for any reason in between making the first wrap on the hand tfilin and getting the head tfilin in the right place, he must make the bracha al mitzvat tfilin on the head tfilin
It is a biblical commandment in the Torah, mentioned in the Shema prayer: "You shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes".
Speak to the children of Israel and tell them you shall make for yourselves tzitzit on the 4 corners of the garment with a blue string. And it shall be for you as a tzitzit and you will see it and remember all of my commandments.
