I don't know brother, the joke didn't work for me, but then again I suppose that has something to do with my disability. I was born without a sense of humour
Sometimes don't try to pretend it, just be natural the joke and humour will come out of instinct, be with those who have great sense of humour, and the most important thing never repeat the same jokes again and again.
This was a great help. I prepared a 5 min material and performed in front of 2000 people and even though I got a huge round of applause still I was slapped by organisers. Sadly i cannot perform the set at an election rally.
1. Set Up - least amount of context necessary to create enough tension so that when you deliver your punchline there's a laugh. - creates tension 2. Punchline - releases tension Look at jokes to see why they're funny what's the set up eg. Misdirection Remove as many words as possible for minimum context for a punchline to maximise laughs per minute. They want to laugh not learn. Most people add too much context or put the punchline before setup and say you had to be there. Get to the interesting part. Write everything you can possibly write without editing. The editing is where you find the joke. Create a mound of words then carve a sculpture out of it. Don't edit a joke over and over again. Let the audience change and evolve the joke for you Use the entire langauge to convey the same thing. A simple thing. Use synonyms antonyms alliterations rhymes puns homonyms Write 10 lines of material everyday something that you can look back at the end of the edit and put up on stage. 250 words for funny story 3650 jokes a year 365 worth editing 36 good jokes = 30 good minutes a year
Joke wasn't funny but the guy is so incredibly likeable that I laughed. That's why comedy is an art form - So much more than the words being spoken. Takes the whole package, and in his case, it's a very large one. (That's my time thank you so much you guys are great)
Great vid. Whether one finds the joke funny or not is not the point. Some will find it hysterical, some will indeed groan. Humor is objective, if nothing else. But it IS humor, and it IS a good opener. And the EXPLANATION on structure is terrific
This was just amazing. Just your gaze alone says "I know my stuff." Awesome video, thank you for taking the time to do this. The light joke was great! :)) So simple, so effective. Respect
Great advice. I loved the fat joke 😂 Thanks for spreading your knowledge. I'm so inspired and bursting to try my hand at comedy. This is a good start! Thanks again
Just out of curiosity, if I wanted to watch your course on comedy, would I have to cast it onto my widescreen tv, or can you still fit on my phone? No, but thanks for the helpful tips man, much appreciated🙏🏻😋
i bought a book, how to write funny, it wasn't funny. I came to your channel and you summed up in 14 mins what that book could not in 4 hours thank you. i feel like i have a good understanding of how to write some jokes now. my favorite comedians are jeff ross, seth rogan, jonah hill, katt williams, and i forget the other one but i'm sure he is funny too. kinda sucks to have alztimerz at age 31 must be all those diet cokes i've been snorting.
I’m a 🇯🇲 stand up comedian and everything your saying that’s how I do comedy and I never went to school for it 🤷🏾♂️ guess I’m naturally gifted is that possible👀
YOU HAVE A LOT TO OFFER! May I suggest you edit out looking at your notes and edit IN closeups and multiple distance shots - it will be more "RU-vid" like! GOOD LUCK! PS _ try watching Def Noodles - he also does Standup --

I’m trying to write a joke but I don’t think I get it and it’s frustrating me. I end up just having a ton of stream of consciousness thoughts about every possible thing that could go in the joke. Now I just hundreds of long paragraphs that are almost jokes with no real punchline. Help?
6:30 bored... Let me help you out I'm fat ... Oh you noticed... I blame twinkies... Doc says i need to exercise and lose weight... So i have a new doctor now.. Thanks for the info.
I've wrote a joke! Joke: Why can't a t rex🦖,lion🦁,or eagle🦅eat me for breakfast,lunch,or dinner? 'CAUSE I'M THE KING OF WORLD!!!!!!👑🌎 WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾
I'm a fat bastard... I blame my parents, my mother's a tart but my father's famous... Papa Johns. The place I live is rural, it's so far out... I have to drive 45 minutes to get to the nearest abandoned gas station. I knew a man of chagrin, He never committed a sin, Pure as snow, As far as we know, And the girls at the brothel said he was prim.
I'm fat. I blame my father mostly. You might know him. He's really fat. ...so, genetics. Also he force-fed me pizza until I was eighteen... He works at Papa John's. It's a newer job, unrelated to the force-feedings. I mean, I don't know, maybe he has a thing for pizza. I'm not him, so whatever. You go ask him, if you're so damn curious. But you might know him, yeah. ...He's the manager there. -At Papa John's.
