Two things I wanna add on to this, just because I think it’s worthwhile 1. If you wanna play up the characterization of the mastermind, try your best to contrast it with the murderers. As an example, V3 does this incredibly well. Every execution has a cinematic, over-the-top flair despite how they’re all incredibly brutal. Compare that to the culprits, who all had…pretty mundane kills, honestly. Blunt force trauma with a shot put ball, drowning someone in a fish tank, and, boiled down, effectively being stabbed twice. The only ones that breach this are Kokichi’s fault, which…makes sense, he clearly has a lot more charisma and energy than everyone else, at least according to the writers. 2. Make executions for everyone!!! As a writer, I can assure you that you WILL rethink and alter parts of the story in the first draft. And that’s fine, and probably better for it. But making executions only for the initial culprits instead of having a base template for all of the cast is gonna make you use a lot of time in the future.
spoilers bozos Kokichi’s quirky due to the theme of masterminds being crushed like Junko. Chiaki died by being crushed 2 times, as she was a ‘mastermind’ in the fact that she didn’t belong, and was a part of the killing game. Tsumugi was crushed as she was the game’s mastermind. Kokichi was crushed because of his claims to be the mastermind. It was all intentional.
My favourite execution is Chiakis: Unlike all other executions, this one gave me *HOPE* that she would get out alive, despite everything happening. As it goes on, I believed that more and more, until she ended up in tetris. Watching Minomi get crushed, and the final block right above her, it actually filled me with real *DESPAIR* .
I love how it contrasted THH chapter 5's execution (spoilers for that btw) by stopping everything before she gets crushed - since yk in Makoto's case he managed to escape. So not only does this suck for her but it also sucks for the players who think a the c5 situation will happen.
Monomi is my favorite character in not just Danganronpa 2 but the entire series. At first, I just hoped that it would be a single Monomi that was executed with the other 9 being just fine. Then I saw all 10 of them. And I cried. Though Usami does appear at the end of Danganronpa 2 to kill Junko, so maybe she is in some way, shape, or form still alive. Or maybe I just can't accept the fact that my favorite character in the entire series is dead.
An example from mine that I think plays with the personality/talent thing well: The Forgetful Cook (Sato Sera - Ultimate Confectioner's Execution: Executed) It starts with Sato getting dropped into a large bowl of cake batter, getting stirred in one of those stand-up mixers. She then gets put into a large oven, and after the timer goes off, the door doesn't open (hence the execution name). The oven finally opens with the cake completly burnt. Cause of death is getting boiled/burnt alive inside a big baked good, and during the chapter 1 investigation, you find out she hates the smell of burnt *anything* due to her talent. The burnt cake is meant to reference this trait of hers.
I actually really like this execution, and I had an idea! (You don’t have to use or even read this, I just wanted to share it with you.) To add a little bit of “spice”, maybe the person cooking her is the one she killed. So as she’s trying to claw herself out of this mixing bowl, she looks up and sees the person she murdered. In this moment of regret, she is overwhelmed with shock and freezes up, stopping her dead in her tracks.
@@pyrokun7255 I thought of it more as a trick my Monokuma’s hands. The sort of thing that the viewer and other classmates would be able to see through, but in a moment of panic, Sato would think was really them.
I actually think Gundham's execution despite being a little silly on the surface is one that pulls off combining personality and talent really well. He tries to subvert the stampede it with a spell but it's just another chuunyibyouism of his and he ends up killed but brought up to heaven by the creatures he adored... It's really hard hitting though iirc you don't think Gundham was justified which probably is why it isn't one you mentioned.
i don't think it's because i don't like gundam, because my friend abe pointed out a laundry list of issues with kaito that he honestly shares in conjunction with kokichi and they both make each other worse and i've definitely got a lower opinion of kaito because of that, but kaito's execution still works. though i'm not emotionally impacted by him, it all makes sense, he allows his sickness to take him before the execution does and that's his big act of defiance to the game. not a fan of the game saying that's what he did instead of showing us but let's not split the atom. it's another instance of fans giving a character fanmade depth to explain a hole - i've heard people say that the circle gundam made wasn't for him, but for the hamsters, and the idea that gundam gets brought to heaven despite all the shit he put everyone through is kind of ridiculous. it would've been more impactful if the circle he made, somehow, dragged him to hell, with the stampede turning his gateway back to dust in the wind. not mad, just explaining my point of view
@AERIS 7 months later, though I believe him being dragged to heaven is befitting, because he tries to act evil and Monokuma basically slapped him in the face by doing that. Would he actually go to heaven? Probably not...
Apparently the spell actually wasn't to subvert the stampede/save himself. Apparently, he was casting it to protect the Devas instead. He accepted that he was going to die but wanted to 100% make sure they remained safe. :D
really, I think that too. I re-wrote her execution for fun literally just because hers was horribly done. probably sucks compared to other possible ideas, but, I find it better than the original to me.

I think executions in danganronpa are such a cool aspect about the series because they are essentially a combination of really short horror stories and character studies wrapped inside of a murder mystery + life Sim visual novel. I think that's probably the reason why I like danganronpa so much! Also, i feel like the reason some characters in fangans don't react as strongly as they should (or even celebrate an execution) is because, and I said this in my own fanganronpa tips video, when you're really familiar with danganronpa/other murder/horror stuff, you start to get desensitized to fictional death due to the law of diminishing returns. Because of that, the way you write fictional death changes as well, and that causes fictional characters to treat death in their world as we would treat death in a fictional setting. However, the way we treat real deaths vs how we treat fictional deaths is very, very different, so when writing characters react to another's death, you should try putting yourself in the shoes and imagining how severe this scenario would actually be if it happened to you.
When Kanemoto was tied by his wrists and ankles to the huge, heart-shaped platform, he hoped that Monokuma would get this execution over with quickly, but deep down he was sure he wouldn't. Whoever this mastermind was, they were adamant that this killing game was to be played their way. A convicted blackened who had accepted their situation and played by the rules could look forward to a swift beheading, even if the thing doing the beheading looked like a giant dragon with that bear's face. One who exploited loopholes in the rules and used them to devise a plan to escape from this prison? It'd be a long, drawn-out death by a thousand cuts for them. Or however many cuts it took to write such vile words in Oshiro's skin and cross them out over and over again. But at least Oshiro had technically been following the rules prior to her death. Kanemoto had the dubious honour of being the first person to be executed for being correctly found guilty of murder and for flouting one of the rules - and one of the biggies at that. This was unacceptable. Suddenly, a recessed screen in the ceiling flickered on, showing Kanemoto a girl he recognised immediately. This was his best friend from childhood! Why was Monokuma showing him this? Before he could come up with an answer to that question, Kanemoto felt something press into his back and pull on his arms and legs. The pain as his body was stretched and bent was already close to unbearable, but the accompanying thumping sound that threatened to rupture his eardrums pushed it over the edge. The scream that left his mouth was blood-curdling. After what felt like an agonising minute but was really not even a second, the pressure on Kanemoto's back disappeared and his limbs went slack again, although the thump that he heard as this happened was only slightly quieter than its predecessor. And then it all came back. And went. And came back again. Over and over. Kanemoto had no idea how his spinal cord was still intact. Every pulsation of the platform felt like a battering ram against a door that his body was barring like a plank of wood. Was this it? Was it his punishment to endure this until he lost consciousness, all while being made to stare at his childhood friend? No, the mastermind had decided. That would be letting him off too easy. Unable to look away, Kanemoto watched the girl on the screen walk tentatively while staring at a bracelet she was holding. Despite the excruciating pain he was currently in, he knew this moment well. He had recommended that bracelet as a present for a boy she had a crush on. This was her on her way to give it to him. It was no coincidence that the platform Kanemoto was tied to was beating faster and faster now. Monokuma was at the controls and knew exactly what to do. On the screen, the girl spied her target, took a deep breath, and marched resolutely towards him. At first, this boy was only visible as a silhouette, but Kanemoto didn't even acknowledge this. He was shocked, however, when the silhouette resolved not into the boy his friend liked, but into Kanemoto! That's not how it went! He knew that's not how it went! Sure, she had shown interest in him, but not like this, and he had turned her down gently. Why was Monokuma showing him this twisted narrative? Were the other students seeing this as well? He protested as loudly and coherently as he could, but the platform beating beneath him and the deafening thumping all around him thwarted all attempts at getting his message across. Then, with the platform's pulse reaching peak rapidity, the girl on the screen held the bracelet out towards the boy in front of her. Unfortunately for her, that boy - the phony Kanemoto - slapped the bracelet out of her hands and stormed off. In that instant, the real Kanemoto's spinal cord snapped as the platform thrust against his back one final time. The screen now showed nothing but the girl's eyes and the tears welling up in them. Suddenly, the heart platform split in two, right down the middle - and right down the middle of Kanemoto's body. The two halves began to separate, pulling his upper and lower body in opposite directions. The only things he could think about were the pain that was making him howl and the awful, slanderous depiction of him in Monokuma's short film. Of all the horrors he could have faced in his execution, why had he been made out to be some kind of monster to his friend? Monster. That was what he had called the others. That was what he had said the motive turned them into, just before putting his backup plan into action. Yet they hadn't killed anyone. They hadn't even tried to, despite what he had witnessed. They were all truly innocent, and he refused to believe it. And it had gotten him here, mere moments away from having his body ripped in two while everyone else saw him the same way he had seen them. One final thrust from each half of the platform was enough to pull Kanemoto's body apart at the waist. Though they hid it well, covering their eyes like the others when Kanemoto's insides burst out, the mastermind was most satisfied with this execution. None of the other students would ever even consider trying to mess with their game after this. Because when you break the rules, they will break you.
This’ll be good advice for executions in the future if I make a fangan, as for favourite executions, Leon’s, Peko’s, IRL Chiaki’s, Kaede’s and Your VR execution are my go to favourites

Oh my god, the Chiaki drawing is so pretty! The advice is very helpful, as always. I'm working on my own fangan as well (I probably won't upload it anywhere, it's more of a personal experiment) and even though I haven't made too much progress because I'm kinda busy with other things at the moment, these videos really help me line up what I want happening next in the plot
yeah I think some fangans (and some canon executions!) fail to get that kick in the gut feeling from the personal touch. the executions are aiming to cause the killer maximum despair in their final moments, so what would do that for them? of course you need to balance that with the tone of your fangan, but the ultimate aim is psychological torture for the blackened and the students watching. (tw for suicide mention below) an example from my now abandoned fangan, where I really wanted the first execution to make you think "oh shit, the mm is _sick_ " had a time limit style first motive where a character killed himself to avoid anyone else getting hurt. there was an execution planned for this character had he been the blackened in a murder rather than a suicide, and Monokuma puts his _corpse,_ strung up on strings like a puppet, through the execution in front of everyone. the planned execution would have relied on the choices of the blackened, but as he's dead he can't make them. Eventually Monokuma gets so frustrated that things aren't working out that he starts yanking on the strings (piano wire) attached to the body hard enough to dislocate limbs, breaking bones, with the final pull taking off his head (he'd killed himself by slitting his throat so the neck was weakened). the final shot would have the head, still wearing a peaceful smile, rolling towards the surviving students. the executions didn't get any lighter from there, but this one was meant to set the tone that, no matter why you killed, no matter how humanely or even if you only killed yourself, you would be subjected to brutal punishment. and it comes after the trial where you figure out that this guy was so sweet that he sacrificed himself for people he barely knew, so the shift is intentionally jarring. it's definitely not my best writing and that particular fangan is abandoned because there's no solid theme to it really, but that execution I still think worked well
I design my executions really easily, because a lot of the time I come up with the execution as I'm designing the character. Here are a couple of mine: 1. Kyo's Big Debut(Ultimate Trapeze Artist's execution) We start in a dark room. A spotlight is shown on Kyo as a trapeze, controlled by Monokuma, lowers down in front of him. He starts to do some tricks on the bar, but then Monokuma yanks the bar out of his grip, and he falls onto the spikes below. 2. The Lost Raider(Senko the Ultimate Explorer's execution) Senko is in a tunnel with a large boulder behind her with Monokuma's face on it. The boulder starts rolling as Senko sprints down the hallway. She hides herself in a nook in the wall, leaning against it and panting as the boulder rolls by. But then a small click is heard, and a part of the wall opens for an ancient-looking spear to stab her, leaving her to bleed out as she realizes she would've died either way. (3 is a murder-suicide so there's no execution) 4. Never Enough(Soyo the Ultimate Ballroom Dancer's execution) Soyo is strapped in a metal case resembling a ballroom gown, and there is dynamite at the top of the skirt with the fuses trailing down the sides of the dress. A bunch of Monokumas light the fuses as Soyo's favorite song comes on, and she is forced to sit and wait to explode. After the explosion, you get a brief shot of the scraps of her iconic hair ribbon drifting down and into the hands of the survivors.
While i do love to heart you bxtch and make snarky jokes in your analysis's its rlly nice to hear you like, give advice and walk through like, how to improve fangan executions, atleast how you would, Its still analytical and insightful, esp. for a DR fan
Usually when I do roleplays- I would try to analyze what the characters love or hate or fear, of I got the info, I can probably make a decent execution, like for example, using claustrophobia for a journalist and make them got fans stampede.
Here’s one of my executions I made for character in my fangan I don’t have the execution name yet but it’s for Yui Nakamura the Ultimate Ballerina. Yui is dragged onto a stage lit with spotlights and a see through panel in front of it. She is prompted to start spinning and twirling on the stage. Just as she starts, the mascots of my fangan are on the side of the stage with a whole collection of sharp objects ready to throw them at her. Yui is blissfully unaware of this until the first object is thrown and cuts her left arm. Yui stops spinning to check on her arm since it is bleeding and hears a loud and abrupt booing noise which Yui hates. She continues to twirl around to stop the noises and barely dodges the second object. The execution goes on, briefly showing Shiko(another character) banging on the see through panel hoping it would break. As Yui continues to dodge most of the weapons she is losing energy. She then is almost hit by a large knife in the chest but manages to avoid it and in result falls on the ground. Before she can get up another large and sharp weapon (possibly a sort of baton or prop) hits her in the heart killing her. 2 things I think I should mention as well. The execution is not as extravagant as most of if not all canon executions to give the idea that the mastermind isn’t as powerful as Junko or Tsumugi. Also it is revealed that Yui killed Miyu (the victim) by throwing a knife at her instead of stabbing her because she felt it would be less painful for her and for Miyu which opposes how mentally and physically draining her execution was while only being attacked from afar If you can give me some tips or what you think about the execution please do Also if you have an execution name for this that would also be helpful
I'll share one too. I also don't have a name for the execution but the character in it is Archie Kamashiro, the ultimate author. The execution starts with Archie in an elementary school classroom with various paintings of cartoonish animals in the walls. He has a chain in his neck that leads to the ceiling behind him. Monokuma, dressed as a teacher, points his ruler to a phrase on the blackboard that says "finish it and you're free" with an arrow poiting to the drawing of a book. Archie looks at his desk and sees a book with red cover and a antique pen (this is one of those old pointy pens you needed to dip on ink before using, just like feather pens) the book's pages are all blank and Archie, picking the pen and not seeing any ink nearby, knows what he needs to do. He folds his coat to reveal the skin of left arm and uses the pen he's holding with his right hand to slash at his arm and draw some blood, which he uses as ink. Everything gets faster as he slashes his arm even further with the pen to draw even more blood to use as ink. He ends up slashing his entire arm and losing a lot of blood in the process, but through sheer determination, he's still able to live. Completely pale from all the blood loss, he finishes all the pages of the book and looks at teacher monokuma, who pulls a key from one of his pockets. The chain on Archie's neck has a keyhole on it, so without even thinking, he pushes his desk aside and rushes towards mokonuma to get the key, managing to run even with all the fatigue. Unfortunately for him, it's too late before he realises that the chain on his neck isn't long enough to let him reach monokuma, and he falls to the ground, mere meters far from monokuma. Monokuma looks at his eyes with a "what a shame" expression and hits his ruler on the blackboard. The chain on Archie's neck then quickly pulls him up to the ceiling, knocking over all the student desks on the way and making him hit the back of his head in the ceiling. With nothing to stand on, he slowly suffocates to death as he doesn't have any more strength to resist. The last shot of the execution is his lump body hanging on the ceiling while a recess bell rings in the background.
One thing I usually struggle with is actually drawing and animating sprites and things for executions. That’s usually what makes it hard for me to make them.
without expertise and time, animation for it can be time consuming - but honestly? it's one of those details people are astonished by when it is present, but are understanding when it isn't. ive seen people use text descriptions where art fails them, and fans are usually pretty forgiving, if that's any consolation

Haha for one of the executions for a culprit, I included his talent and his irrational fear of needles (I mean, needles are terrifying who could blame him)
Also I sent what I wrote about how the victims died to someone let's just say I traumatised them (not in the way you think, it's not a "hold sh*t that's brutal" but more a, "The culprit scares me and he needs mental health" I won't say what happens unless you really wanna know haha-
Oh and one last thing, (I swear this is the last reply I'm adding) but I'm also planning on thinking about Free Time Events (and Love Suite events because I want to see people aw at the wholesome ones while also making them uncomfortable). Because, mmmm characters make you feel sad when die mmmm
I’ve got an execution idea for a fanganronpa character I am making which is the ult butler and I’d love some feedback on it. So basically what happened is another character out poison into one of the drinks and the ult butler served it out (not realising that it was poisoned) to one of the people there. Even though he wasn’t trying to commit a murder and had no evil intent, because he gave the drink to the guy he is seen as the blackened. The way he is executed is he’s chained to a chair and there are three glasses. One by one he is forced to drink them all, but as he drinks the final one he starts bleeding out due to it being posioned, he can see the antidote in sight but because he chained onto the chair he can’t grab so all he can do is just flail around until he dies. This is basically referencing the fact that he had no control over him being executed and had not control over his odds of surviving his execution. :>
I’m not writing fangans really now. Maybe I will in the future with my OC’s though they’re now branching into original territory. But this’ll be good for me to watch when it’s not 11:30 at night
I would also like to mention that the execution shouldn't only be based around the culprit's talent but what they idealise or value the most and breaking them. (SPOILERS for Danganronpa) Executions like Celeste's aren't really based on her talent but what she values or wants to achieve. In her case, the burning castle representing her Disney princess dream, the witch theme representing her dark monochrome fashion or her selfish intentions as Witches were viewed as evil earlier, and they were burned to death. She was a bit happy that she gets to die in a unique way as she thinks she's above others but she dies in a vehicle accident, a common way to die which broke her in her final moments. It's very interesting to analyse executions like these as they are symbolic and relevant to the character themselves. SDRA2 has very good executions in my opinion, thank you for the video Nyx! Hope you will continue more videos like this (if you want).

The fact that I planned to write my executions today, and this comes out is a very helpful coincidence. Also, I unfortunately know what an Electra complex is, thanks to my english teacher when we were reading Oedipus. Edit: What little I had of my executions is now thrown out the window because they are way to brutal to have been made by a mastermind that thinks the killing game is, while terrible, for the "greater good".
hi aeris!! thank you so much for this video :D i'm writing a sort of fangan for ao3 (i'm not sure if it's a fangan if i just put the characters from the 3 main games in the same cast and went on with whatever came to mind) and i'm still having issues for some of the executions, like hifumi's and fuyuhiko's, but this really helped me figure the creative process and an idea of where to start! you explained everything excellently and your work really inspires me
Definitely taking these into consideration! Thank you for the fourth section, I often don’t understand and get normal human reactions, so it helped to know when people wouldn’t cheer, how they’d be shell shocked, etc, really needed that!!!
Another thing about Mondo's execution. It played off one of his major fears. One thing he was desperate to be was strong. When Chihiro came to him, they mentioned how strong he was and he agreed, stating that he was stronger and that he was stronger than his brother before killing them. By turning him into butter, Monokuma made him 'soft'. As for writing executions, I've always enjoyed doing so. Some of my favourites are for one of my ocs, two relating to his talent (Ultimate Confectioner) and one relating to someone he cares about in the outside world. Since I'm going to be writing my own fangan story at some point, if he dies, I'll most likely find a way to mix the three.
Hold on, I'll just post some of my executions here for various crossover fangans I had plotted out. Fangan Name: Safe After Dark Executed: Doug Dalmatian Fandom: 101 Dalmatian Street Talent: Firefighter Written: 4/5/2022 Notes: Delilah Dalmatian is also a participant and the protagonist. The whole reason Doug killed was fear of his children being in danger because of a motive and the victim let Doug kill him, though Doug still felt very guilty and as if though he failed everyone. This would've happened Chapter 2 "Well," Harry said, "I guess it's time to get this show on the road, then?" "Y-you're…not actually gonna kill him, aren't you?" Ghostbur muttered. "Why wouldn't I?" said Harry, "can you please shut the fuck up now?" Delilah turned around to Doug. She *needed* to tell him her final words. A smile came from Delilah's face. A weak one. Doug could tell from the tears and the eyes as well. "Doug, just know that I've…I've always loved you! Marrying you and raising our kids were the best moments of my life!". A smile came from Doug upon hearing that, but then Doug looked at Garry's death stand and the smile frowned once again. *A failure* said an imaginary voice. "Delil-" The trap door had already been set, his execution was set 【Ｅｘｅｃｕｔｉｏｎ ＃２： Ｄｏｕｇ Ｄａｌｍａｔｉａｎ Ｄｅ Ｖｉｌ ｆｒｏｍ ｔｈｅ Ｃｈｉｍｎｅｙ Ｔｈｅ Ｕｌｔｉｍａｔｅ Ｆｉｒｅｆｉｇｈｔｅｒ＇ｓ Ｄｅｍｉｓｅ Ｅｘｅｃｕｔｉｏｎ， ｃｏｍｍｅｎｃｅ】 Doug looked around him as soon as he fell. "If you want to save yourself, save your pups first" a voice came on. Doug's eyes widened…surely he wouldn't… He looked, it was a stuffed animal, thank dog. But… if saving these stuffed animals what it takes to get out alive, then so be it. His eyes lit up with determination, he was a firedog. He did stuff like this before. The house was flaming, but Doug had always prepared for this moment. ||He picked up one stuffed animal. It made out a generic "Father, please help us" in a full tone. Nonetheless, the dalmatian threw one stuffed animal out. And another. And another. 4, 5, 6 and 7. By 10, he was starting to get a bit fatigued By 20, his vision got blurry from the smoke. By 45, a piece of wood fell on his hind leg. He yelped, but he had to brush it off By 64, a chunk of his front leg got burnt, yelping again, but carrying on. By 80, he stepped on a nail, but taught himself to ignore it, no matter how much it pierced through his fur and skin. By 92, his eye was blinded temporarily by a brick falling on top of his head. By 97, Doug noticed Delilah cheering him on. Doug pressed forward. 98 was done at that point, and there was one left. A wicked smile held the last one, but Doug didn't care. He had already killed a man, what was stopping Doug from killing this apparition. But the doll then turned its head. It stared Doug in the eyes. Doug couldn't help as though he was saving his own pup. Once he got out of there, he'd never let his pups be in danger again, he'd make sure if it. Then it growled. Doug noticed. His eye widened. Then more stuffed animals came, and more and more came through. Doug screamed, but quickly ran out of the house. Doug smiled in victory, looking at Delilah, hope in the female dalmatian's eyes. But Doug didn't know why he thought he had won. In this place, talking imps and cartoon characters brought to life existed. Why would he be so foolish to think that the apparition couldn't just get up and… roll a log down the chimney of the house. Delilah tried to scream through the glass, but her voice was silenced by Harry's hand. Delilah bit his hand to warn Doug, but it was too late. Doug looked up. *A failure* the imaginary voice said once more. The last thing Doug heard was Delilah scream. He had many regrets, but the biggest one was him not being able to see his family. ̶1̶3̶/̶1̶5̶ ̶1̶4̶/̶1̶6̶ ̶1̶3̶/̶1̶6̶ *12/16 REMAIN* Fangan Name: The Village Fangan (placeholder) Executed: Ice Bear Fandom: We Bare Bears Talent: Jack of all Trades Written: 6/16/2022 Notes: Grizz is also a participant. This would've been Chapter 2. The circumstances for this execution is still being worked on and likely wouldn't make it in the final cut, since Ice Bear is a *victim* not a killer. Ice Bear found himself at the middle of an…ice platform. Of course, there was hunters chasing him. The thing was that Ice Bear wasn't a cub anymore. Of course, this meant that Ice Bear could defeat them all with total ease. But of course, it doesn't work like that. Since when has it ever fucking worked like that? Of course, Ice Bear was able to defeat the first set of hunters. They were all robotic clearly, but that wasn't a detail Market really cared about. Then the second set, just with a bit of trouble. A cut to the arm and the leg. Then the third set. Ice Bear had to get creative, his axe had been pushed aside. He didn't have any weapon, but he persisted, despite the take to the stomach and the shoulder. Of course, then the fourth set. Everything went to set by the fourth set. He got so far. One By One He slowly but surely took the vast majority out. His eye took a hit here. Another hit to the leg. Another hit to the torso. One of his arms was just gone at this point. The final hunter, that final robot was about to do one final swing. But then something stopped it. A man. An old looking man. A long sweater and long pants. That made sense, this was the middle of an arctic after all. Ice Bear recognized who this was. "...yu…ri…?" Yuri. But it wasn't. Of course it wouldn't be. "Yuri" let out a ghoulish smile, one that Harry would have. One that Ice Bear didn't see. "Yuri" pushed Ice Bear straight off of the fucking platform. Of course, Ice Bear was clearly in shock. Market only got one good look at his face. A look of betrayal. I love thinking of execution ideas for danganronpa characters, the only probably is making them. It’s hard to execute something when you have big ambitions and a crappy editing software. Ehhhhh. It doesn’t bother me though
for me presentation in a fan project is like a shitton of elaborate buttercream icing; great if it's there but the execution's no less interesting if it isn't. animation is fucking hard and if all you manage is images or even text, that's fine.

I don't write a fangan, but I always wanted to know how to write executions, and it's from aeris, and since I love their commentary a lot I need this as well edit: fixed the pronouns used-
This actually really helped a lot since I'm writing a fangan atm. I'd like to share what I have down and I accept constructive criticism. First, the culprit. His name is Kinkiyo Ryukocha, and he's the Ultimate Brewer (he makes coffee). His family is a huge tea maker (poetic irony, as coffee gets you energized and his family's most known for calming herbal teas.) So he has a great hatred for his family as they tarnish his reputation as an energizing person. The theme(ish) for the fangan is sight v secrets (ironic as the protag is blind lmao). The victim was "Mangako", the Ultimate Comic Artist. Her real name is Mei Ryukocha. She was bullied a lot by her twin brother, Kinkiyo, and is now very quiet because of this. Kinkiyo is embarassed by her, not just because he hates his family but because she often gets lost in writing and forgets to eat/sleep (like Ruota from dr3, so he had to make her do these things a lot as kids (which is where he learned to make coffee). The motive was just "I have your secrets in these folders and if you don't kill by 10pm in 2 days, I'll reveal your darkest secret to everybody," (kinda cliche but it works nicely here). Since Kinkiyo is embarassed by Mangako, he kills her. Really not as painfully, but it's still not a pleasant way to go; he uses another character's (the ultimate doll maker's) sculpting tools to stab her multiple times. She fought him kinda, but she's been so stressed about the killing game that she's done nothing but recluse and write her comics, so she was pretty weak. He tries to dispose of her in a believable way, sneaking past the protag, to put her in her room (which each room is like a lab from v3 and a dorm in one) and props her in her very comfy drawing chair at her desk and locking the door behind him. So, the execution. It's a bit like Korekiyo's, in the sense that he's boiled alive, but he's been boiled in chamomile tea. More specifically, he gets to watch Monokuma pour Ryukocha chamomile tea into the small cramped tea-cup Kinkiyo's in. There's audio playing of his family laughing at him, calling him the outcast. He's screaming out, there's boiling water in his eyes and throat, but the others can't hear him. But it doesn't end there. The tea cup tips over into a jarring cold frozen coffee, and the sudden change from boiling to freezing kills him instantly. So what do you guys think? :)
that point about contrasting the mastermind’s motivations with the killers’ really hit home, and I think my current executions vs murder methods show that well. the mastermind absolutely DESPISES everyone in the cast (except for one person, who they’re more neutral on), so all of the executions are rather brutal. murder one is just a strangling, but the execution involves eyes ripped out of their sockets, scratches and gashes in the skin, and being impaled. the second is a gunshot to the head, but its execution is the razor wire saw trap, where the culprit has to navigate it and is left to bleed out and die. these videos are super helpful and your art is gorgeous! I’d planned to listen to this while I drew but I literally had to stop and just watch 😭
I have an execution idea for a fangonranpa character So the character in question is the ultimate gardener. Since she is only the 2nd character I’ve made for it she doesn’t have a name So she wakes up in a hall with a bunch of rose bushes and at the end of the hall is a meter that says home and below that a door. She figures that she has to pick the roses to unlock the door. So she picks the first rose of course without any gloves or stuff like that (I’m not really a gardener so idk what they use for roses) she gets stabbed with thorns she is in pain but she looks up and sees that the bar has gone up slightly but as soon as she sees that the ceiling comes down a little so she starts running and grabbing roses and at this point she has so crawl to get to the door. Hee hands are now dripping with blood and she is really close to the door but the meter isn’t filled up all the way so to try to escape she grabs the rose and jumps (well since she’s crawling it would be more of a lunge) for the door but she’s the late the ceiling puts its full wait on her crushing and killing her. Do you think that is well planed out? Anybody’s feedback would be nice!

I would like to share an execution I made for Mario, which I think is a good balance between personality and talent, which in this case is Ultimate Bodyguard. Mario is in his house, with Luigi by his side. He is revealed at first, thinking the killing game was a dream until a TV in the living room turns on and shows a room in a castle with Peach trapped in a cage, with a Bom-Omb next to her, set to go off in 15 minutes. They both rush out to save her but the path to the castle has been replaced with one of those garbage enemy spam levels you could find in Super Mario Maker. Mario is able to dodge all of the obstacles but Luigi is not. When he rushes back to help him, he gets hit by a Fire Bar, Hammer Bro, and other such things. The rest of the run to the castle is basically Mario being a meat shield for Luigi, getting heavily injured in the process. Inside the castle is one long hallway, with a sign and a button on it. With 2 minutes to spare, they run up to the sign and button, which says "Press this to save Peach!". Right before pressing the button, Luigi speaks up, saying that he wants to save Peach, because he's always being left in the dust and he wants some spotlight for once. Mario, feeling bad, lets Luigi press the button, but the button activates a trap which shoots some arrows at Luigi flinging him backwards. Mario, terrified, runs back to check on Luigi, while the Bom-Omb's timer reaches zero. An explosion is heard, with a scream and a splatter of blood, but Mario does not care. He reaches Luigi, and crouches beside him, crying trying to do anything to save him. At that moment, Luigi pulls out the arrow that shot him and stabs Mario with it, saying that he doesn't care about Mario after he pushed him aside again and again for the fame of being the hero and rescuing Peach. Mario falls to the floor, bleeding out from all of his injuries. He looks up, seeing that he's right below a Thromp. Unable to move out of the way in time, the Thromp crushes Mario, killing him. All that is left is a pool of blood on the ground.
I think Danganronpa executions work best as a black comedy, they are silly and surrealistic, yes, and that adds to the horror of the situation I really, really don't like when fangans make their executions mortal kombat fatalities, and making them gruesome for the sake of being gruesome As great as Leon's execution is, this isn't a good example for a danganronpa execution They're supposed to degrade the killer, humiliate them and make them seem like their life was never worth anything in the first place That's why most executions (some notable exceptions happen, 1-5 for example) are themed after talents Tell me, would Monokuma rather rip your spine out and chop you into little pieces, or make your death absolutely humiliating and make you feel horrible as you die with symbolism of the method of execution?
i feel as though monokuma could absolutely both rip my spine out and chop me into pieces *and* make it absolutely humiliating and horrible at the same time - remember, he did boil Korekiyo alive, a method of death so horrible it was used as torture in the Medieval era. mortal kombat fatalities are at their best when they humiliate the loser as well as carve them up like the christmas turkey - i don't think it's 'one or the other'. leon is, after all, exactly what people remember, and what people do look back to for an execution - it's the most iconic. arguing that it's not a good example while it's THE example feels a little disingenuous. (that, and if you're doing, say, KombatRonpa, i'd say that if your executions don't go for gore, you should go back and pick another property to fanganize)
@@DetectiveNyx I suppose that's true, you can have it both ways My advice to a beginning fangan creator is to be creative with their executions, go nuts, but do it while taking the character you're killing off, especially things like their fears and things they hate Executions are something that you can make many mistakes and fall into many traps while designing them, it's a very careful process
I just had an idea, and I want to know how good it is. (Undecided Name) (Ultimate Botanist) They are pulled up by vines and thrown into a rainforest setting, hanging on vines from a tree. Venus flytraps begin to attack them from this position, and they dodge a few times, getting hit way more times than not, struggling to get out. They do end up getting out of the vines, as the flytraps loosened them, and they fall from the tree, getting up and looking behind them while running away. They then look in front of them as a giant flytrap eats them whole.
Excecution Idea: A young kindhearted child kills someone in the fifth chapter. He is the ultimate ??? Of this fangan. The motive was, if you kill someone you get to bring a 2nd person to escape with you. The little boy attempts to save himself and the only person who has ever cared for him, his older brother. (the protagonist) When caught, the little boy is locked in a room where he is given an ultimatum in relation to the motive, get killed, or survive and kill his older brother. He is forced to do so by either holding a bomb, or throwing it towards his brother. He looks at his brother and throws the bomb towards the walls of the building they are trapped in. After doing so, he runs for the exit. Monokuma seems to be panicked, and just as he makes it out, monokuma shoots him with some sort of arrow or gun.. the wall is blocked off before anyone else can have the chance to escape. The entire time, the protagonist is watching this behind a separate wall probably in tears or something.
I have an idea for an Ultimate Contortionist or Gymnast that is something along the lines of Hole in the Wall that ends with a French Revolution style beheading at the end, probably being a chapter 2 execution. Anyone got any ideas to enhance or alter this concept? I'm all ears.
Hi Aeris/Nyx I really don't know if you've been asked this question but are you going to make a video on danganronpa another 1 and 2 haven't fully watched this video yet so I don't know if you if you mentioned it or not.
chances are i'll never do anything further on DRA or SDRA2 - for my money, the fans of that fangan spoil all the neat little twists in every sense of the word (i.e. not just 'Naomi Watanabe murdered Ken Tanaka!' or 'Hana Nakayama goes insane in Chapter 4!', but revealing those twists in the absolute most annoying way possible). the canon series has the advertising power to often draw people to the game blind, but as a fan project, even as THE fan project, the Another series doesn't, and i'd argue the another series is more spoiled than the canon it's based on. i know that's not satisfying, and i don't hate the another series or think it's bad, i just think that its reputation is too broken for me to have any interest in. as for names i honestly prefer nyx at this stage - when i do finish the channel rebranding, that'll be made more clear.
Another one is weeby news my current fav dangantuber is playing it and I know you to have very different opions on things. But myself personally I only think some just spoil it and others are just memeing not realising there actually spoiling the game.
AERIS probably wont see this but would a lighthearted happy theme for the daily life fangan where theres not too much tension but the deaths and trial/executions are super dark and brutal? would it be too much of a drastic change?
it would depend on whether or not the contrast has a point/connection to the fangan's theme, i think - it's a lot harder to sell happy-go-lucky and lighthearted characters killing each other in such a dark fashion without something as part of the story to help sell it. if it's just that for the sake of trying to inflict Feels on your audience, it's likely only to work a single time on impressionable people, and you tend to need to fill 5-6 trials.
I am planning on making a fangan of my own and it is a crossover fangan but it also takes on a multiversal scale, the killing game itself taking place within Danganronpa's world. And Monokuma does state that if the blackened gets away with a murder they will be returned to the world they came from. I also do intend to have the story tie in to events that actually happened in Danganronpa (Mainly Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair). You think something like this would work?
I wonder if I did good, I wanted to be gruesome to be on par with the distrust’s executions while being at least a bit humorous like some Danganronpa executions (The ultimate’s backstory)[important to understand execution] Alex kokatsu is a mixed race between white and Asian that sees all technology as living beings. and as a result he could not stand his American father being so reckless with technology as he also views the fuse box as a living being as well, so he uses every chance to preserve the life of each fuses. One day his father came home drunk while Alex was out fixing the neighbors electronic components as an e-doctor. His father had left every lights on, and used as much technology as possible causing the fuse box to break. Once Alex came home he looked on with horror on the state of the fuse box, it looks like a normal fuse box for anyone else but Alex sees it as a pile of corpses. And when his father brushed the fuse box off as a useless hunk of junk Alex had killed his father and had help from the voices of battery powered tech to make it seem that the father died while abusing his own son. Once the police wrote it off as accidental he was to live with his mother who would be appreciative of technology and sometimes ask his son for advice and sometimes ask him if he could do a checkup just incase. He’s kind to people who appreciates technology, but for those who disrespect technology he’s harsh towards, he despises anyone who kills technology and shows no remorse. [start execution] Alex kokatsu the ultimate technician is left suspended by the 4 mech arms in the middle of every booth showing us the view of the 14 students available, electricity runs through each of the mech arms before they exploded from the emp he prepared beforehand, Alex now injured runs for the elevator only for a fresh mech arm to grab Alex by the neck and be dragged to the ceiling of trial room. The camera moves to the lowering monitor as Alex is dragged towards a machine while Alex desperately tries to cling on to something as his fingers starts to bleed. Alex’s lower torso gets strapped to the bottom part of the machine as another machine above him forces his arms into the machine. As the room now lights up Monokuma then walks up to an outlet with a flatscreen tv an plugs it In into an outlet. [s] fuse durability test Monokuma then plugs in a blender and makes a smoothie, before plugging in a vibrating chair. Alex begins to cough blood. Monokuma plugs in 2 gaming monitors, a gaming pc, and a heating gaming chair and sets up a game before monokuma plugs in a microwave to make popcorn. Alex face becomes pink. Monokuma plugs in a strange looking machine, and plugs in an inflatable mattress before putting in a hospital bed, a cooling pillow, a heating blanket, an alarm clock, and a phone charger. Blood begins to seep through his forehead, his eyes, and his mouth. Monokuma then plugs in 6 air conditioners and 3 irons. Alex begins to close his eyes before coughing as a small usb falls out of his shirt and into a gap in the floor. Monokuma then grabs a pair of scissors and sticks it into the outlet causing a broken fuse (aka Alex’s head blows up) monokuma then scooped Alex’s blood into a jar, puts it into the blender and shakes it to mix it up, 4 bears come out of the strange machine and monokuma offers them a smoothie. The camera pans out of the monitor and into the now 14 students. And the usb lands in front of the protagonist on which they stuffed the metal into his pocket while a look of despair rushes through everyone’s face. [end execution]
I have an execution for a fangan that my sister and I are writing, with the character being a no-nonsense sort of character and desperate to prove her intelligence and competence in being a butcher. While her actual death in the execution is practically immediate, but my idea of making it personal for her is being humiliated in front of the survivors solely based on the colors of the rainbow, as she's colorblind. She doesn’t want it being public knowledge as she thinks that she'll be treated as "lesser" for it, even if that isn't exactly true. "Kana is dropped from her spot in the trial room into a pitch black room. The lights flash, showcasing a screen and six buttons in front of her, each different colors and arranged in a yellow - blue - red - purple - orange - green format. She appears to be inside of a tight space, similar to an elevator. The screen turns on and shows Vitrum, and they tell her that if Kana can follow the color patterns, then she'll gain some distance from the trap and slow the trap down. If she can get to the bottom floor safely, then the execution will fail and she will be free. She looks up, seeing a gigantic bear-trap roughly 75 feet above her, inciting fear into her. The "game" starts, and the screen shows the words of the colors. Kana gets the first few right based on guesswork, but the patterns started getting faster, resulting in her messing up. She panics, leading to more incorrect answers due to being unable to properly make out the colors, as she has Tritanopia. The bear-trap is getting closer to her faster each time she messes up, leading to Kana frantically attempting to guess which color she's hitting, only to continue being wrong. A laughing track plays in the background, making Kana start to tremble and cry, as she becomes aware that people are making fun of her. The trap reaches her, and the screen starts counting down from 5. The walls drop, showing the surviving campers, revealing to Kana that she was never in an elevator at all and she was doing nothing but making a fool of herself. She throws one of her knives at the screen in rage, just as the screen reaches zero. The bear-trap slams shut against her chest, impaling her heart and killing her immediately. The remaining campers witness her blood spill across the floor as her body is dragged up with the bear-trap, away from the scene." While the ending might be a bit brutal, I feel like it plays into your idea of wants and fears. While it doesn’t use her talent as a butcher when her execution could in some way, I like it because of Kana feeling humiliated and tricked, knowing that the escape she was teased with was never going to be given to her. Sorry if this is long, I just wanted to rant for a minute!
Sharing some awful old execution concepts of mine from an abandoned fangan of mine. As of now I have semi reworked the characters but not the plot. So enjoy these terrible old concepts. Chapter one execution. The blackened's talent was ultimate gardener, and she didn't have much character outside of loving plants and hating people. She was eaten by a giant man eating plant with little or no build up,it was quick just for shock value. Chapter 3 execution,the backend had hidden their true talent up until the trial and everyone thought that they were a Medium. This is how they had an opportunity to kill chapter 3's victims in the first place. but actually they were a Pianist. They didn't want to associate with their past or talent because of the intense physical and emotional strain their mother put them through in their childhood. For the entire execution they sat and played piano,as the music slowly got worse and worse until it stopped entirely as they died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The whole time they believed they were being watched by their mother and didn't bother resisting due to this fact. But what they believed to be their mother was actually just a mannequin the whole time. Chapter 5 The mastermind revealed that the killing game was actually taking place in an advanced vr game. And that the protagonist is was just a digital copy of her childhood friend made to build hope among the students just to make the despair more crushing when the truth inevitably comes out. Despite not committing any murders, the protagonist was to be executed with the mastermind due to one of the killing game's rules stating that accomplices are to be executed with the blackened when possible. The actual execution was underwhelming and was sort of an execution boss gauntlet in which every past execution was repeated as the mastermind accepted their fate, and the protag tried to escape. Until the end where the protag gave in and accepted their fate.
Ok, after this I still have no idea how I execute my one character, Haruka Komaeda Her talent is...pretty complicated to explain She's the ultimate karma, in that context, I mean she's the ultimate lucky student in *some* way. But depending on how she feels that day, her mood effects her luck. Like, when she feels happy, the Komaeda in her name really shines. But when she feels bad, she has the worst luck ever Kinda the best way I can explain it How the hell do I execute that?
i think first off is examining whether an execution is needed: if she isn't a murderer, it's not worth considering. if she is a murderer: think about why her luck affects her mood, and what purpose that serves to the story - most likely, there will be a downward spiral effect given the situation she's in grows more and more harrowing. people die, so she feels upset, so her luck causes more people to die, and she (maybe) feels responsible for it and feels guilty and feels worse, which makes her luck worse, etc. how will that affect how the story turns out? are there executions in other literature that could represent that downward spiral and guilt? or maybe there's a darker shine to her Komaeda name (since i'm assuming this is a fankid - the name Komaeda doesn't mean luck, so the only way you can link luck to the name is through nagito) and she inherited his health issues and/or outlook on life, where she tries to force herself to feel certain emotions to manipulate the outcome of her luck - perhaps executed the same way nagito 'died', or similarly? perhaps an execution that punishes her for the hubris of trying to control such a force as luck, as even celestia mentioned that you can't control your luck, it's good or bad?
EXECUTIONS FOR MY FANGAN (DR24: Despairs Gamble of Life) !!! Chapter 1: A Case Within the Golden Shine Paikino Mizuriku: Ultimate Seamstress♀️ Code Color: Hot Pink Killed: Athens Aaroneko: Ultimate Book Author♂️ Code Color: Beige The Case if you want it!: After Breakfast motive about the students families going possesed and the only way to stop them is to get a small key somewhere to break the curse but no one knew how to find them so they did a scavenger hunt with the help of others. Some people went to the Down Stairs and others were up. Satoshi "Mikon" Yashakka♂️ (Ultimate Ping-pong Professional), Poaporag Ilianaguchi♀️ (Pomologist), Anathan Smith♀️ (Ultimate Influencer/Content Creator), Athens Aaroneko, Ginareke Bhanau♂️ (Ultimate Athlete) [or ultimate manipulator...] and our culprit. When this happened, Athens decided to take a break and to get some "pills" they got from his dad (Actually drugs according to Athens trauma lore) Paikino suspected him for having the "key" in his pocket so they battled and Paikino used Ganoto Chanzai's♂️ (Ultimate Game Developer) Stolen Game USB and drop them in water and tricked Athena to go to the "pond" in the garden which was actually the mixture and shocked Athens but the "medicine" was the reason why Athens became dumb. Paikino used a Strainer from the kitchen to scrape skin from his Limbs and Neck. and then Athen and Paikino were fighting each other to hard that they started to fight on the stairs. Paikino Stabbed Athans in the eye and after that Athens falling body made Paikino fall to the long stairs when we were eating Paikino survived, passed out for a long period until the class trial, but Athens did not. It was later revealed that the "key" was actually a shiny penny. Djaino Whataberi♀️ (Ultimate Class President [Protag] ): PAIKINO YOUR THE CULPRIT! sorry we had to do it for our survival! FUN FACT!: Djaino is based on a kind girl grade 4 class president i was friends with who has the same first initial (D) Infrakuma❌: ITSS PUNISHMENT TIME!!~ "Under The Rain of Pins and Needles" Paikino Gets forced on a cardboard box and gets thrown to a portal to an shirt workshop factory. After that, she was thrown to the conveyors and her legs were trapped in the conveyors. An dress drops to Paikino making her wear it for some reason... She then goes to the another conveyor where she gets repetedly get stinged by alot of needles thrown by monokumas holding "STOP COPYING DESIGNS" and "YOU KILLED THE BEST DESIGNER!!!" (these texts are based on her baskstory of how she killed her copycat who copied her designs by voodoo) in the speed of sunlight going to mercury. The next Conveyor is when she getts hanged close to a hole. Infrakuma cuts the rope Paikino was getting hang on making her fall to the hole and inside was the Human-to-Cloth Machine. Paikinofalling to her demise as she slowly turns to a Cloth. The screen goes to a scene of a mother Infrakuma and a Kid Infrakuma Burns the Paikino Cloth with an Iron and they house of the Infrakumas burn to ashes making both of the Infrakumas pass. The screen zooms out and darkens. Chapter 2 coming soon :D

@@marklopez2004 I think the correct spelling is "nasally" and it is an actual word that's often used to describe voices. An obvious example of someone with a nasally voice would be Waluigi.
