I am 76. I loved watching your video. And of course I would love yo be able to use a projector and write on my cookies. But 1. I have only been doing decorating for 6 months, and 2. I don't have the money for a projector.
Thank you so much for watching ❤️ The projector is an investment but I didn’t start off with one either. I used my handwriting skills when I had to lol. Also stencils with phrases could be helpful until you decide if it’s worth getting one.

Hey! I look at font websites like Sofontsy, dafont, or creative Fabrica and find a font that I like 😊, that’s not a stupid question! And you may have to pay for the font. Dafont lets you preview your words with the font! I’m glad it was helpful!
Hi Kathy, wait at least 8 hours, if you are short on time put in dehydrator for a few minutes and the top should be crusted enough for you to write, but keep in mind underneath the top, will be wet so you won’t be able to scrap off letters if you make a mistake.

I so desperately want to learn how to decorate cookies. It’s been a desire for years but I never really tried because #1 I didn’t even know how to bake, nonetheless decorate! Well fast forward to quarantine and it turns out I can bake and pretty good at that! I’ve tried making royal icing but I cannot get a nice outline after what seems like way too many attempts. I don’t want to give up because I really want to make cookies for my son’s birthday in April! Any tips?
That’s so good you found a love for baking! So I would use some parchment paper to practice or bake some thin cookies to practice on. Hold your icing bag up high, not too high, from the cookie and this will give you more control over where to lay the icing down. Use one hand to hold the bag and the other to guide your hand. Also keep playing with the icing consistency. Buy some cheap piping bags so u won’t feel bad about having to cut them to dump icing out, because you may waste a lot while testing out your icing! Add confectionary sugar or water to get the right consistency. I have a royal icing recipe video up if you need. You may want to try a royal glaze icing as well that has more corn syrup in it and some people prefer to decorate with that kind of icing. Keep practicing you will get it, I hope this helps!
The shadow is my biggest problem! I just try to be aware of what is coming up in the design and move my hand in sometimes awkward positions to be able to trace with the projector! Sorry I can’t give you a trick to stop that!
It’s a challenge for sure I try to make the room as dim as I can and sometimes if there is a shadow I look ahead of where I need to bring the icing. Sometimes it’s hard to see but if I know a line is about to curve I try to lay my icing down where I think it should go. Try holding ur icing bag up kind of high from your cookie for better control.
