Little tip about the springs in the red dot adjustment turrets. When you make your adjustments go one or two clicks past your adjustments. Then back it off the one or two clicks. Your adjustments will be truer.

This was so freaking helpful! I never shot an AR in my life ( basically just handguns and long rifles with scopes someone else adjusted for me) my friend gifted me with an ar lower kit this Christmas, and I did the complete assembly myself watching RU-vid videos. I wasn’t even sure whether the gun is gonna fire or blow up in my face. Anyways, I liked the whole process of building an AR by myself,and wanted to “decorate” it with whatever my budget would allow. Got an iron sight’s and found a cheapie red dot online. Thus equipped, I went to an indoor shooting range and started firing. Groups were tight, (using the red dot) but it always was below{2-3 inches) the point of aim. Your video, just gave me an additional ego boost😂😂 that this is how it is supposed to be for longer distances! Thank you! And your friend behind the tree~ level 1 NINJA!😂😂😂

I went to the range today with a new red dot on a new upper. I rolled the dice and started at 50 yards. It wasn't on paper, but I could see that I was damn close. I held a few inches high, still not on paper, then held a couple inches left, and a bullet hole appeared on the bottom right of the paper. After that, it was game on. After one mag of adjustments, I was stacking them in a two inch group for the last cease fire.

When you have a dot sight sitting high above your bore, it's called hight over bore , if you zero at 10 yards beyond that point of aim your bullet will go up and up and up the farther it travels, at 100 yards you will be 3ft above your point of aim at 10yrds. , this creates a dangerous problem way down range with bullets flying high out pass 4 to 5 hundred yards. And it's all because of high over bore , ZERO as far as possible, 50 to 100 being best , you'll have what's called hold over on shots less than your zero, that is impacts below your point of AIM, but you won't have shots flying high down range , the shot will fly more level until it drops dew to lose of velocity . Any shots less than your 100 zero will reflect your high over bore measurement. My 100 yard Zero at 25yrds is 2.5 inches above point of aim the same as my dot hight over bore , but at the 100yrds zero I'll still be on target out to 250yrds, but low . Some scopes have a ACSS reticle w/BDC = Bullet Drop Compensator which dots don't have, that's why it best to zero them as far out as you can 100 is a great base line distance or 50 .

It's too bad you didn't show how to make the adjustments on the red dot sight itself...like how many clicks you were doing to bring it in, that was completely overlooked. Seemed like it was gonna be a simplified tutorial, but it was missing a whole section. Perhaps I searched wrong, next time I'll look up " how to dial in a red dot sight, for the beginner"
@BlueAlphaBelts
@BlueAlphaBelts 5 месяцев назад
It wasn't overlooked, there are many different red dots and they have different adjustments. If we showed it on this dot it might confuse people who have a different optic than adjusts in a different way. You red dots user manual is the best place to find that specific info.

Some good info but for some that have no clue how to zero, you never provided any info showing "closely" how to turn the adjustments and where they are located. You never showed a view looking through the optic as to how the adjustments look from that position. Maybe make a redo and include this! Your giving info that proficient shooters already know.
@BlueAlphaBelts

This video is showing the general idea on how to zero. Since red dot sights vary quite a bit it's difficult to get specific for people. Also, showing the impacts on target moving with adjustments is more valuable then showing the dot moving with adjustments.

@@Lonewolf5.56Zeroing means calibrating the sights or optic on a weapon. Even if you dont have an optic you will still have to Zero the weapon for accuracy. This “zero” is also unique to you, like a thumbprint, because no two people hold a weapon exactly the same. If someone else were to use your rifle after you zero it then you will see that they are not as accurate because they have a different “zero” than you. Your rifle will have two dials to adjust your zero. You will have to adjust up and down and left and right. Left and right is known as “Windage”.
