I’m and ex British army armourer. Skill at arms instructor and weapons geek 👌. As Mr AAR states at the start we can all learn. I watched this knowing how to zero a myriad of sighting equipment and weapon systems. I am stuck in my ways and prefer to fire a 5 round group and use the mean point of impact. However let it be know this is a very good and informative video. Worth the watch and full of valid and useful information. thankyou.

Best explanation I have seen so far for anybody doing it for the very first time. Although most of us kinda know in theory how this goes, unless you have done it before, (I have not) it is good to see a straightforward, clear and concise explanation. I just got a HW100/hawk scope, so I will be getting onto this next week, this video helps a lot in advance. Thanks for making it.

Never thought about the mounts lining up. I've been shooting for years and consider myself quite knowledgeable. Just goes to show that we should never stop learning. I use sportsmatch mounts currently on my ultimate sporter with a hawke vantage sf scope and find it laser beam accurate. But I have used budget scopes and mounts on previous rifles and never thought about the alignment of the mounts. I tend to fire one shot and then adjust the crosshairs to meet the first shot.

Good demonstration. On my range, I use a fence post as a plumb line. I start at 20 yards, and zero 1 inch high @12:00 oclock. Then move to 40 yards, and adjust to pinpoint zero. This make for predictable holdover/holdunder on the 50, 60, 70, and 80 yard gongs. You will have much more confidence on the longer shots by being able to see/measure your drop.

To avoid future disagreement I suggest we rename the muzzle sound-reduction-device the ‘attenuator’. This follows the English protocol of using an additional and unnecessary new word which is slightly less helpful than the pre-existing term. This will also serve to attenuate future argument and confuse newcomers and old hands alike!

The reason some mounts center better than others has little to none to do with the quality. The budget mounts you’ve used seem to be applicable to a range of rail sizes like 11-13mm where as the other pair seems to be specific to the size of the rail your r10 is using (most likely 11mm). This is natural because you can’t center something at the exact same spot if it has the ability to move on the axis it’s being catered on. I love your videos lo they helped me a lot as I’ve only just purchased my first ever air rifle! Im subscribed and will definitely be revisiting your channel for various tips and reviews!

Ohh and thanks for one of your other vids on 177 Vs 22 🤷 well I went for the 177. Always had 22 in the past but think the 177 as the advantage with its flatter trajectory. Tahh mate 👍👍

i use method 1.. Always have done :) I have a Wood Work bench vice, that i have fitted with soft rubber jaws, to securely and carefully, hold the gun. But i dont zero to the previous shot personally.. As with each pellet being slightly "off", i zero my scope to a tight grouping. So that my scope is always Zero'd to a target, regardless whether i get a slight pellet stray or not. Always worked very well for me :)
