Hi Ben, really big thank you for making this video. I bought a DS35 and couldn't get the ballistics calculator to work correctly. After following your instructions it now works brillantly. I found that adjusting the BC was the most important change to make it work. This video should be mandatory for anybody who purchases one. For the viewers info I attached it to a .22 FX Continuum. I use the Haydes pellets. My range was from 5 metres up to 25 metres. Setting up was in a bench rest postion.
Great stuff Ben, very helpful for my new toy. Big shout out to all the guys at Hunt The Night. Terrific place to get all your gear. Great service both before and after purchase, and heaps of great advice and never ending patience for the non techie like me. David D.
Excellent tip. The ballistic calc on my NV008 was spot on my .17 HMR, but near worthless on my air rifle. And my new DS35 is near worthless inside of 50 yards on my .17 I can't wait to try to dial it in adjusting the BC. Thank you!
@Lij_MC I tend to use a rimfire if I've go space to shoot beyond 80m, so I haven't even tried it on a paper target at those distances. I'm just using 18gr JSBs @ 905fps from memory
Brilliant method. Should work with ATN 4k. Set my rimfire at 50 yds and ballistic calculator was shooting a bit high out to 100 yds. Those Pards look less bulky than the 4k with abl.
Great video, thank you for the insight, this has helped me a lot to fine-tune my new optics. Do you know if the Pard ballistics calculator adjusts for windage? On mine I only see up and down changes based on distance but no left or right adjustment
No it won’t adjust for windage as it cannot detect the wind to account for it, it would need a weather station attached to it as it would need both speed and direction.
well that works great but if you shoot it at 10 or 15 yards can you tell me how far off the ballistics are because mine shot at 15 yds is 3/4" or 19mm above where the ballistic calculator says it should hit so its 19 mm high at 15 yds sure could use some help im shooting 18.3 jsb at 905 fps average for 20 shots
Dont wanna tell you how to suck eggs but if the rf marks is accurate to where the range splash is working. Doesnt that mean your ranging 54 yards at the tree behind the box? And not the box itself?
This is what I thought, the ranging is off in the video, he's actually ranging behind the box which is likely adding another couple yards. This will explain the difference. So actually the standard ballistic calculator seems to be spot on without the need to adjust the BC
Lol i left mine on oem setting and it is great .7 cm ..it works great .i rat hunt to 30 meters ..zero 25 meters ..and at 10 meters it works great .so tbh i dont know if it will affect allot,.Maybe when you shoot over 70 meter,s I dont know tbh .but the clip very nice. You fiddle with bc??????
I'm still fine tuning, but I noticed the ballistics X was way off inside 5m. Otherwise it is close. It's not uncommon for me to take shots at 4 or 5m and they can be the most difficult to aim. eg a rat in the long grass that thinks he's hiding or a possum up a tree looking down on you. I had to adjust my BC, but I still don't have it accurate yet. Fingers crossed I can find a way to configure it. Not a fun job!
For shooting that close I’d either have a different zero or turn off the BC. Typically I zero my scopes at the shortest distance I’ll shoot then set the BC for longer distances.
I have done this after zeroing at 40 the hold over is correct at 60 and 20 but when I get to 70 the hold over is way off , what do you think this could be
While changing BC in a ballistic app will compensate for drop at a set range further away than your zero if you want a more consistent result at varying ranges then best to adjust velocity and leave BC at stated manufacturer figure. That's just my understanding and am open to be corrected... That said it could be a number of other anomalies such as incorrect scope to bore measurement or a fault in your individual scope.. for it to be "well out" in only 10mtrs I think the error will not be in a BC vs velocity technicality, more likely something more obvious. Work your way through it I'm sure you'll get it done 👍
I insert the parameters in reticle adjustment axis(x and y) but after a while they get formatted, can you help me?I want to clarify that I performed the correct saving procedure!!!i long pressed the (ok) button and exited the menu but after some time the parameters entered by me are deleted, I don't understand what could have happened, can you help me?
Awesome video pal. One thing I've noticed is projectile weight, some say you need the actual weight in grams instead of grain which is the norm. What did you use? Cheers
Even though there was a 50fps difference, accuracy is close. My DS35 won't record to card when on the recoil setting. It says it is, but doesn't record. Tried different cards etc. It records manually, but only if I turn off the auto recoil recording. If I leave recoil recording on, it won't manually record video either. Seems to be a firmware issue.
