I've been doing this laser sighting for years (for both my optics and any lasers I'm mounting), and there's one item you overlooked: the lasers themselves are NOT necessarily exactly zeroed. This applies even more when cheaper sighting tools are used. My preferred laser sighting tool is the multi-caliber kind, that you insert into the barrel from outside. The SiteLight SL-100 Mag Laser Boresighting System is a very good (and relatively inexpensive) one to use. What I love about these is that you can spin them around when they're in the barrel and discern the imaginary circle created on your wall by this rotation to see how far from zeroed it is. The center of this imaginary circle is the correct zero. Unfortunately, while you can rotate these bullet type sighters (usually by about a quarter of a turn each time), it's a lot harder, slower and less precise. But they will definitely get you on paper.

I know the multi-caliber laser you're talking about. I use that one when I sight in my rifles. I've gotten better results using this bore sight tool when it comes to pistols. When I use this bore sight for pistols, it's dead on when I go to the range and I don't need any adjustments. I'm sure the multi-caliber laser will get the job done too. 👍🏼🤜🤛

Me and my wife have been looking for months for something where we can zero our Romeo 1 red dot sights at home but never found anything (out of all the vids we watched regarding how to zero a red dot sight your vid is the first and only one that mentioned about the bore sight), thanks for this vid i’m gonna order 2 bore sights (one for my Sig Sauer and my wife’s Canuck). Super helpful zeroing my first optic. I got a red bore sight to offset my green dot. A lot of other videos are not recommending to get a different color laser than your optic.

I'm glad the video was helpful. Here’s another tip, turn up the brightness on your optic a little more than normal so that when you match the two dots together the dots will turn yellow when they are on top of one another.

Yes, you’ll have to go to the range, and most likely dial the red dot into the specific ammo that you’ll be using. One magazine or less will get most people dialed in. Not all ammo will zero the same. I usually zero the red dot to the defensive ammo that I’ll primarily be carrying. If that is what the firearm will be used for. Did you get accurate results with the laser sight tool?

I've been using this method for years now and I haven't needed to make any adjustments when I get to the range. They've all been dead on no matter what ammo I used. I also use this method sighting in my rifles. Because I zero my rifles further out, this method will get me on paper, and will only need to make small adjustments.

how accurate or dead on it is at 20 yards, for you using this tool?, especially using different ammo, is it 100 percent dead on?

I haven't zeroed any of my dots for 20 yards, but I have done a 15-yard zero and it's dead on. As long as you match up the optic dot with the bore sight laser, it should be perfect. Here's another tip I forgot to include in this video: make sure to get a green bore sight laser if you have a red optic dot, or a red bore sight laser if you have a green dot. Then make the optic a little brighter, and when you match the red dot to the green bore sight laser perfectly, they should turn yellow. Also, the bore sight in this video is only for 9mm, but they make bore sights for different calibers. This is the way I zero all my pistol red dots, and I haven't had any issues. No. Not at all. Some laser bore sighters are shaped like a actual round for the extractor to engage the lip of the casing.
