Why? Exceedingly long working hours, immense pressure, $300,000+ debt, toxic culture, board exams, immense stress, the list goes on. What did you do to manage the stress caused from med school?
@americanbookdragon
@americanbookdragon 2 года назад
I couldn’t even try to go into the med field because I need enough sleep every night to be stable. I highly doubt they give accommodations to students or medical personnel with invisible disabilities.

Herpes is a common infection or condition, affecting about 1 in 4 American adults, Hsv 1 & Hsv 2 are the common types of Herpes virus and if untreated, they can get unbearable and cause severe medical issues, I'm so glad I'm over herpes and its stigma. all thanks to Dr. Aloha ru-vid.com/show-UC_YFEEZEr1BxGkNg1d4vqww 🌿🍂🌹

@@americanbookdragon you can get reasonable accommodations in med school thanks to the ADA. Board exam accommodations are the hardest to obtain though.

@@courttttttt Cry. I cry a lot. Crying is therapeutic but it's also important to remember to dust yourself off after you're done crying and get back to work. Also, finding 'your people' in med school really helps. Support systems are really really important. Support outside and within school. And when that's not enough, psychiatrists and therapists. Therapy gives you those tools to help you cope and reframe situations.

It was my first time taking a patient's blood sample today and I did everything wrong at least that's what the doctor who showed me was yelling... it's so toxic why can't we just help and support each other? I'm already mad at myself there's no need for him to make me feel even worse.
@outdoorscholar6016
@outdoorscholar6016 2 года назад
The doctor would fit right in with the Brass and the senior NCOs of the military 😔 you know what, screw them to high Heaven. You failed the blood sampling, but you are NOT a failure. You screwed up on that procedure but you are NOT a screw up. I want to tell you that you are putting forth effort and I want to acknowledge that effort. I believe in you, and I believe that you will be successful 😁
@outdoorscholar6016

@@vietnam891 in the past, yes. Nowadays the Brass and the SNCOs are drunk on their own authority, bullying the lower rank enlisted just for the sake of bullying them. I’ve seen so many veterans and active duty talk about how toxic the leadership is and how just 6 months in can leave even the most optimistic of people a shell of their former selves. The worst part is the Brass and SNCOs are genuinely confused why reenlistment numbers are low

As a Phleb myself, ignore the doc. Chances are if you had asked him to get that blood sample he wouldn’t have been able to get it either.

Thank you for sharing this and raising awareness. My 2nd year of med school, one of my friends and classmates took his own life. People sometimes just see the MD, salary, and “social status,” but don’t see a lot of what you listed in your pinned status - and that stuff affects us even as mere “trainees.”

Wow that's so sad 💔 we are experiencing a shortage of medical professionals in Ontario currently with Emergency rooms needing to close down and inreasingly long wait times for patients. Medical professionals are so vitally important. Surely we can do better than this! They are all leaving the field due to stress/burnout.

My 2 year internship was like hell, stressful long shifts, being underpaid caused all my passions about Medicine & medical field gone. I used to work 80hrs/week and my pay was a little more than a cashier in H&M. Some people got into this field because of seeing doctors make good money and that’s true but after 20 years of experience but when I graduated I realised I got a long way to reach my goal. I know many junior doctors think the same and that can be a reason for this.

It's not different than a lot of other careers, at least from what I saw in college. More than once I was the 2AM call from someone sitting on a roof or standing on a bridge or sitting with pills or gun in hand. Higher education has an extremely toxic approach to anyone who doesn't accept abuse from professors, grad TAs, staff (especially housing and financial aid office staff), and administration. It's a concentration of national culture that anyone under 60 doesn't deserve basic respect, dignity, living wages, safe housing, affordable food, and jobs that don't work you until you collapse. We have a much bigger fight in front of us than any one profession and that's part of the problem; it truthfully affects nearly everyone but we grew up being told that "others" have it easy and are somehow "taking advantage of the system" and hurting us in the process. And the reality is the only people "taking advantage of the system" are the wealthy elite who hide behind fear mongering that turns us against each other.
