In the 1970s Turkey was known by the Hollywood movie called "Mid Night Express". The movie was sponsored by the Greek, Armenian lobbies in the US, portraying Turkey as a backward, barbaric, bloodlust nation. All the actors were either of Greek or Armenian origin. Their attempt failed. Today Turkey is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Fast forward, today Turkey is a nation with 80% of its arms produced indigenously, from ships to drones, planes, tanks and air defense systems. The population is young and almost 100 million. Turkey has brilliant young brains and a multifaceted industrial base. Turkey is a mighty Eurasian country, a bridge between the East and the West. Turkey is highly influential in Central Asia, Middle East, Africa, Caucasus and the Balkans. Turkey will even be more independent and mighty in the very near future. Today Turkey has the 8th high ranking army in the world. The aim is to to be in the first 10 developed economies in the world in the near future. The Turkish Empire strikes back!

'Mid Night Express' is a terrible movie in terms of cinematography because this movie does not reflect Turkey well in any way, and I know this very well because I am Turkish. Even his Turkish speech was done in a different language. In addition, all the events that happened to the main character in the movie were lies because the real person played by that character said in his interview: "Prisons in Turkey were much better than prisons abroad, I have never experienced events like in this movie. I was not mistreated in prisons in Turkey." , I prefer prisons in Turkey to prisons in other countries...". Anyone who wants can find and watch the interview.

Interesting video. From the outside it may seem like Turkey is an underdog, but it goes a little deeper than this. Most of Turkey's military industrial complex was born out of their dependence on American arms pre-1974 when Turkey invaded Cyprus as a means to prevent a genocide of Turkish Cypriots, by a group of Greek fascists (EOKA) - who were hell bent of cleansing the island and reunifying with Greece (ENOSIS). As a reaction to this invasion the Americans put an arms embargo on Turkey, and from that dozens of military companies were born. We're now seeing the fruits of their labour unfold - it takes decades to get this technology right,.

Türkiye was not just bazaars and antique ruins. There s no way such a background produces that sophisticated products. Turkiye started its industrialization in 60s. Fast forward to 2000s Turkiye was an industrialized country with 80% of the work force was either in industry or services sector. The economy was lead by automotive and machinery sectors. Production infrastructure in some areas surpassed major EU countries. As a foreign policy, Türkiye was not aiming to be a major player in arms industry. There was şimited infrastructure for domestic production of amunition, some electronics and communication systems and a very large maintenance work force for all kinds of weapon systems. but the industrial infrastructure was sufficient to house and finance the necessary r&d as well. Arms embargoes and hostility by the west triggered the urge to develop a home grown arms industry. Think about that, your biggest ally and supplier of arms refuse to supply air defense systems or tanks you want to buy. Also, US refused to sell drones to Türkiye which was really crucial to patrol and intervene terrorists infiltrating from the southern border. So, it was only logical to produce them domestically.

Heres something you may find interesting. :) The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird ''turkey''...... .....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :) Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's. The name it self has a suffix, '' -iye '', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to', just like the Latin suffix of '' -ia '', which exists in such country names like Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Latv-ia, Roman-ia etc etc again meaning 'land of/belonging to'. Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia). The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish is much older, ancient Turkish been over ten thousand years old. Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) '' Türkiye '' we got various spellings like; Turquía (in Spanish), Turchia (in Italian), Turquie (in French) Turkei (in Germn) and Turkey (in English) all trying to resemble the pronounciation of ''Turk-ia'' thus Turkiye. Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as 'turkey'' was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named 'turkey'.... ...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird ''Turkey Fowl'' meaning ''Turkish Chicken''..... ....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc. In time you don't get to call the Greek Harehound as simply as ''Greek''; or you don't call the British Terrier as ''British''; or the German Shepherd as ''German'', but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just ''Turkey'' and later ''turkey'', and has been going on for hundreds of years. Now in modern times, this is causing confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on the map, this ''confusion over the naming'' needed to be corrected. So my country decided to rectify this confusion that has been going on for so long and corrected the name to Türkiye, which it always was. Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : ) So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : ) Best wishes. ;)

"Akıncı" generally refers to special military units that operated in border regions during the Ottoman Empire period. They were typically cavalry units and played a significant role in influencing the course of war by conducting raids, reconnaissance missions, and harassing enemy forces. "Akıncı" often served as a tactical element utilized in defending or expanding the borders of the Ottoman Empire during times of war.

Most of the Turkish engineers working on Turkish defense industry products graduated from American and European schools. After graduation, some of them worked in the most important defense industry companies of those countries, were promoted to professors and returned to Turkey to serve their countries. These technologies were created from scratch, based on knowledge obtained from America and Europe. These people transferred the knowledge they acquired to Turkey. Thanks to these people, many Turkish defense industry companies managed to become among the 100 largest defense industry companies in the world. There are currently nearly 1500 Defense Industry companies, large and small, in Turkey. Our young people went to America and Europe as a small spark and returned to Turkey as Volkans. They worked hard day and night to grow these products. Those who make fun of these products are actually making fun of the technical knowledge of America and Europe. These people did not even go home for months, they stayed in those facilities to develop those weapon systems. The foundations of this adventure were laid since 1974. It gained momentum in 2004 with the return of Professor Doctor İsmail Demir from America to Turkey and the meeting of the defense industry board of directors.

The Huns, Gokturks, Seljuks, Ottomans and 200 other Turk/Turkic empires for over 4000 years of History. As well as Timurid, Mongols etc. Turkic and/or pro Turkic nations too. The first nation that cones to mind when someone mentiones war and battle. The nation invented the actual war bow and arrows, invented iron and turmig inron into swords etc. weapons, while most on the world using bronze and similar soft mining materials or even stones and wood to make weapon. When whole world learns the iron, then the Turks stars using stell (Way stronger than the damascus stell! Actuallu this is how that stell ended up in Damascus and middle east) to make weapons. In 1453 Yhe Ottoman empire was building the largest and most powerful cannons of its time. Average cannon was 10 times bigger and heavier than the largest cannon ever built during that time. Massive 3 part cannons those disassembled to carry to battlefield and assemble in the battle field, those can break down almist 200 cm thick castle walls!!! Not even mentioning the Modern Turkey's (Dince 1921) building weapons, even building war olanes in early 1930's or building almost %99 of the all F-16 fighter jets (from A to Z all parts, hardware and software etc) since early 80's those used in Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Saudi Arabia etc. all over the EU, Asia, Africa etc. I guess 4000 Years of non stop battle experience and establishing some of the most largest and powerfull empires of human history, no. Stop, one after the other one, gives you enough knowladge, experience and resources to make some of the most advanced and effective weapon systems of today.....
