I think the most disgusting thing about ubisoft is that they are smart enough to know what the fans want and they lie and tell their fans they are going to get what they demand but they still go back on their promises. Remember when Ac valhalla was announced and they said the series is going back to its roots but in the end it ended being having nothing to do with the series and now they are doing the same thing with Mirage.

isn't this though the most infuriating thing about video game companies in general? COmpanies making movies will give the fans what they want over and over again (see Pirates of the Carribean, Transformers etc) until they are sick of it. Video game companies for god knows what reason seem to have this insane arrogance where they TELL fans what they want instead of listening. This is how I imagine their conversations going: "so what, you have a product yet", "well yes, but it's....", "does it work well?", "technically it does y....", "ok ship it now, 6 months is plenty of time to put a AAA game together", "...".

Let not forget movie and video game got a producer (some one that mediate between the director and the money) which further dilute the vision of the project. Assassins creed was innovative for open worlds back in 2007 and a niche sci fi and is now an fantasy RPG and the story has nothing to do with AC anymore. R6 siege gameplay wise is still a tactical shooter but the entire realistic aesthetic is destroyed because Ubisoft love selling wacky uniforms and weapon skins. It's really sad what greed can do to people and companies. This is the same company that produced one of the best trilogies ever made in Prince of Persia trilogy, Rayman games, Splinter Cell, Child of light, King Kong adaptation which was underrated as well as the first Far cry and AC games which were very good. They now have become the AC/Far cry Milk company. They don't care about bringing back their other great ips, they don't care about changing their formula to their open world fetch/bloated games. They could have easily take the decision to put a high budget into remaking POP trilogy like Capcom did with Resident Evil, bring a new Rayman game, don't take 10 plus years to bring back Splinter cell. So many wrong choices....

This was such a good video for committed gamers like me. You speak my heart, my friend. I am so old that I remember a time when you could just say, “It’s a new Ubisoft game,” and everyone knew it was going to be good. Now, if you tell people that, everyone knows that within a few weeks, it won’t even wind up in dollar sales bins, because there won’t even be a hard copy published to throw into the, “Reduced To Clear,” bins. I feel like I’ve lived through the birth, the rise, the renaissance and the decline of the video games industry now. And it’s fat cats like Yves Guillemot who caused this decline. I think Red Dead II was the highest we’ll ever get in terms of story, art, gameplay, characters, music and all around quality coming together to make a perfect game? If you don’t like that game, I’m sorry for you, as even Rockstar shows signs of toileting their company now. It ain’t getting any better. And it sure as hell ain’t at Ubisoft. This video summed it up perfectly.

Been a Gamer since I was a Kid in the 80's, first played on my Step Dads old 5600 when I was around 2. Spent more time then I care to admit in Arcades and then in my Room Playing any System I could get my hands on. I remember when the Gameboy came out and wished I could get one. Still to this day I am a Gamer, but so much of it has become corrupted by the Greed of those at the Top who have no clue what it takes to make a Good Game. All they care about is how much they can squeeze out of us. They dont care if the entire Game Industry burns to the ground, because they will just move over to something else they can exploit for more money. I am glad I was around to see all the Great Games that were made, but I am sad to see all Crap that has been piling up as well. I would extend this to all mainstream art outside of gaming for the last 23 years actually. The last couple decades have been the absolute epitome of bland, generic, corporate movies and music to such a degree I no longer even pay attention at all to what's going on in the mainstream. It's sad but becoming more and more the same story with mainstream games now as well. However, there are still so many independent small budget developers making great games that I have so many on my steam wishlist and steam library, I don't have enough time to even play them at this point. Yes it takes much more work to find quality underground games but like with music and movies it's effort well spent in my opinion.

@ArgentWolf95
@ArgentWolf95 Год назад
@@hughjaenus2235 it wasn't the race stuff they were pushing in Valhalla, I know people use 'wokeness' a lot and some use it for everything. My suggestion here is in how they talk about things as a company. It's become very common that when fans of a franchise have legitimate criticism, the company (not just Ubi) likes to infer fans are racist and the preach about Diversity, gender and all that. It's a distraction tactic. So when people have actual criticisms (for example I love Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Future Soldier, splinter Cell games, and they're not around or turned into something else with varying successes.) fans get called racist etc. I backed away from Ubi when Odyssey was the thing. The game that could be described as 'woke' accurately though, would be Far Cry 6. The game has the whole communist revolutionary thing. They have done things according to woke politics in other games before. Such as making half the gang members you beat up in AC: Syndicate be thuggish women. That would have been rare back in that era. In that game they also changed the whole values between Templars and Assassins. Templars weren't ever just greedy capitalist businessmen who were overly malicious, they were about creating order. and assassins weren't socialists, they were about freedom. Those are examples of woke changes to Lore Ubi did since before people called it that though.
@hughjaenus2235
@hughjaenus2235 Год назад
@@ArgentWolf95 I see, i haven't played Far Cry 6 and apart from the "This game was created by a diverse team of multiple religions and genders etc." i don't really see as much wokeness as i do in other games. Like i don't mind if the main character is black or a woman or anything like that, my issue lies when the wokeness is pushed so far it doesn't make sense in the story or the world. For example if they did black vikings, similar to how Netflix decided to make Witcher's (Which is a show meant to be in a cold Eastern Europe setting) half of the cast black + lazy race swaps. In a way i think Ubisoft is actually aware how some of the games die quickly because of their wokeness, notice how in AC Odyssey and Valhalla the protagonist canonically are female, but Ubisoft decides to always use the male counterpart in all of their trailers? it's almost like they're afraid to showcase diversity. And i mean they did do that for Liberation, but that game was a flop. So i'd say they're fine with going woke, but they also know their audience and don't wanna push their agendas too far, even if they pride themselves as a "diverse team". Again, personally i don't mind a bit of diversity as long as it's not forced.
