The rot has certainly stopped for sure. However, fans at the ground are easily frustrated by the team retaining possession rather than firing a pass into open space for someone to run onto. I like the fact that he is trying to implement a style and get the players to work the ball rather than needlesly running around like headless chickens!

Villa fan here, I am still shocked at how we have appointed a manager of Emery's stature. We have a 4 time Europa League-winning manager at Villa Park. I honestly think his transformation so far has been incredible. We have signed Alex Moreno and Jhon Duran whilst he's been here, that's it but we are already looking like a much better team with him here. This season in my view with Emery was to get us into a good finishing spot (9th-12th) and then sign his own players in the summer and develop them. At the time of writing (3rd March) Villa are level on points with Chelsea, with only a minus 6 goal difference separating us. I know Chelsea have been terrible but Villa to be on the same points as them at this point in the season is still shocking to me and I hope we can progress past them in the next few weeks because right now, we look like we are a better team than them.

The Beale thing is massively overstated. QPR form turned while he was still there and Villa were just as bad over the second half of last season as they were at the start of this. Not saying the instability wasn't a problem, but I have no belief that things would have been much better if Beale stayed.

Another thing you missed is team selection. Gerrards starting 11s looked like they were pulled out of a hat the night before. He was always changing it meaning there was no way for players to build on each other and he also had clear favourites who never got dropped despite poor form. He also refused to play Buendia who’s been a real bright point so far under Emery

We grind out wins and can finally close out tight games. He's tactically brilliant for the players we have. Half our squad is a very average bunch of warm bodies. He's getting the most out of them. Fringe players looking solid.

Not an arsenal fan but they actually stuck by him until the end of the 2018 season he absolutely had to go. Baku was a shambles and they bottled top 4, then at the start of the next season they went on an awful run. At the time it was the right decision

Emery has re-engineered the playing style of the squad and while there has been good progress and results I feel there is more to come after summer transfer window and a full pre-season of hard work. I am hoping for a top 8 finish next season, which i think is do-able. The West Midlands needs a successful football club, and Villa are the only team that seem able to do it.

As a Villa fan we are happy with the progress Unai has made. Of course it is work in progress but there is hope now when that was elusive. I agree with comments that we underrate the overseas manager as opposed to UK manager, but Unai has demonstrated this very well, long may he make the necessary strides needed a supportive will fan

I think he's an incredible manager and the players are going to learn things they wouldn't have otherwise learned which will make them better players. Post Nottingham Forrest recently he's still really humble about it all as well, saying that there is much more work to do in order to achieve the goal of european football

I think saying fixed is a strong word for what he’s doing but i feel that Emry is doing a good job for not but we’ll see next season as gerrard did well at the start with villa and dropped of halfway through the season.(injuries, etc)

While I agree it’s too early to say he’s fixed Villa you can’t really compare him to Gerrard who didn’t know how to manage the team without Beale Emery is a better manager and unless something goes terribly wrong I can’t see him doing as bad as Gerrard did. Also Gerrard was terrible all of this season he was decent for a few games last season.

Well now we're unbeaten in 5 and have won 4 and drawn 1. The 3 we lost in a row included city and arsenal. Leicester was a disappointing result and we should have won that. Arsenal we should have got a draw. These aren't even his players and up to today, only city, arsenal and utd have got more points than him since he has come in. Top 6/7 for villa next season

@@paulstones1451 I agree with you to an extent but there's a couple of massive differences. Firstly, these owners we've got are the wealthiest and the best business minded we've ever had. They didn't do what previous owners have done and put everything into it for 4/5 years and then lose interest when they didn't reach their objectives. They are the 4th richest owners in the premiership and are redeveloping the stadium and also the community and surrounding areas. Secondly, and more importantly, Unai Emery is the most successful and highest profile manager we've ever had. His record speaks for itself. Since he came to villa and in his 14 games, only arsenal, city and utd have accumulated more points. We have scored in every game and this isn't even his team. Let him have a summer transfer window and we'll be challenging for top 6 next season.

He has not fixed villa. He had a new manager bounce like everyone else, but the frailties are becoming apparent once again. Individual errors, lack of composure and lack of bottle when truly required. I’m sure he’ll come good, but he’s got too many substandard players. Villa will try and get to 42 points and then they’ll knock off. The players don’t have the courage or heart under pressure.

I disagree, villa are playing a much more fluid and composed version of football which make them a difficult side for any team in the prem to play against. There have been a few mistakes from mings and a few others, but I expect 2 new cbs in january.
