Yeah same, I watched some of his interviews and talks like the one at AARP, Rogan, H3H3 and like that totally got me on board his ship. Literally more and more like you said lol
Right! I canvased and nagged all my friends for Bernie in 16. Its really hard for me to get on board with the federal jobs guarantee though. I can't understand what that looks like in the real world. This is elegant in how simple it is. I really can't imagine independents saying they prefer trump over $1000/month, too. If he's the nominee i can't see him losing (though i thought the same about generic democrat 2016).
I was Bernie in 2016 but as soon as I looked into Yang saw he was the 21st century change needed. What would it take for you to move to the Yang team from team Bernie?
discorperted Its not practical to remove millions of undocumentef immigrants. You have to think forward. That is why there is a huge conflict in middle east. Some palestines want to remove all the jews from there which is not practical, they have to look forward now. What if someone all of a sudden comes to u and tell u “Actually you are from Germany and you are illegal, we gonna deport u back to germay” You would happily go back, would u not?
discorperted Its not as easy as you think. You need to find each of them, You will need resources and there is a process too. Finding millions of people itself is a big deal. Once someone gets into some other country illegally, its hard to take them out. For example, America illegallu invaded iraq and still there illegally.
discorperted Mexicans dont come here illegally anymore. They are the 6th largest economy. I know you think brown people speaking spanish are mexican lol. Net migration is negative from mexico. People from other countries include Europe, come here illegally
@discorperted Illegals do pay taxes. They pay sales tax like everyone else, but they also pay income tax and I think its more than most people. For example, if I hire a legal worker and pay them $20 an hr, instead I hire an illegal for $15 or less, then that's their income tax contribution. He/she is taking the same job for a lot less. In this case the consumers and business owners benefit and doesnt have to go to the government. Who many times direct the funding to things most of us dont agree on.
Raising minimum wage does nothing when your job gets automated but freedom dividend will ensure a small income while in between careers. I'm all in yang 2020!
Raising the minimum wage and a federal jobs guarantee do absolutely nothing for stay-at-home-parents, caregivers to elderly and/or ailing family, retired people, disabled people, and so on. Raising the minimum wage and a federal jobs guarantee are trash solutions compared to UBI.
Yang's Freedom Dividend is paid for in large part by a Value Added Tax on large tech-based companies that stand to benefit from automation. For the sales portion of the various services provided, the VAT would focus on high-end luxury items and not on basic items like food and other everyday products. The average person making regular high-end purchases is the wealthiest among us, meaning the overall reward to poor and middle-class citizens is substantial. The dividend is just one of 150 policies found on Yang's website, many of which work in tandem with this initiative to broaden the freedoms, strengthen the buying power, and increase productivity of Americans across the country. Considering all this, it's hard not to see Yang as the best choice for president in these modern times.
That doesn't make sense. Its sales tax on high end goods teh wealthy pay. Like what yatchs and cars? We are a consumer economy. Driven by the poor and middle class. If the rich could spend enough to get us out of recessions. They would've. If hte problem is automation. Why not tax robots and automation to help fund the UBI? I'm not against the UBI but his plan leaves alot of holes and unexplained funding mechanisms.
The VAT is added to everything. Yang claims he MAY exclude food staples from the tax but thats a MAY not a promise. And if you are on disability Unemployment or receive SNAP you cant receive the benifit. Yang counts ending socail programs currently in place as how he pays for it.
@@freeisalwaysme The companies subject to this VAT are the ones that stand to gain from automation, such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, and so on. Amazon sells goods to the American people, causing stores and malls across the country to close down. That's where the sales portion comes in, but it is not the only portion, as I said above. Data as a Property Right is another of Yang's proposals. It's now a fact that our data is more valuable than oil, and companies like these use it every day to generate large amounts of cash without us having to make any direct purchases at all. The fact that you're even reading this means that someone got paid, but despite the fact that we all generated that money, we don't see a cent of it back. Not until Yang gets into office and is able to change this, allowing us the right to choose what companies do with our data, which we often are left completely in the dark about, and we also may receive a portion of the enormous wealth being made off of us continuously just for being modern human beings.
@@maxsmart645 Actually, the dividend stacks on top of several programs, including disability. The existence of the dividend doesn't end social programs, but gives people more options than they had before. However, these programs may be less overworked once many current recipients vacate them in favor of a dividend that, unlike traditional welfare, doesn't come with means testing, forcing citizens to constantly re-apply, report their earnings, and live under threat of having the given amount reduced or just altogether taken away because the government suddenly decided they didn't need it anymore. With the dividend, it's a set amount delivered with no questions asked, making it an easy choice for many. For those who prefer their existing programs, they are able to keep them. Either way, the choice is with the individual and not with the government.
@@misternightstar No they dont stack you have to choose Yangs $1000 on the current payment and still be worse off because everything costs more due to the VAT added to everything.
Logical Conservative Well the Freedom Dividend wouldn’t be just a tax on you. it’s a tax on you as well as the entire production of goods so it helps the government tax large tech companies that currently pay no money in Federal income tax. That plus folding in already existing welfare programs. The average American will pay in much less than they receive and then spend that money and put it back into the economy which creates growth. It is not literally a direct transfer from you to government and then back to you.
@Kate From what I understood people can choose between UBI and currently available subsidies. The idea is that you raise the floor and create a safety net: - raise the floor example - while $12k a year is poverty, it sure is easier to start turning your life around when you have $1000/month to begin with, than with ZERO (suddenly you can feed yourself and take a shower before an interview) - safety net example - if you lose your job due to some medical issue (aka lose your income while having to pay for massive costs), you don't start from 0$, you have 1000$/month to help you out. And that does keep a lot of people from falling into permanent poverty. For people that can't work, subsidies other systems will still be required. But, for the vast majority of people under the poverty line, UBI will be better.
Mr. Yang, I haven't had health insurance since 2001 I'm in bad health I'm 58 years old. I could use $1,000 a year to pay for my health care. That's not asking too much is it?
Yang - Here’s $1,000 per month. $12,000 a year. Gonna give that to you free and clear CASH. Also will have medicare for all so you don’t have to struggle anymore. How does that sound?
@@Michael45007 public healthcare always lesser choice to private, my country provide free healthcare. Private healthcare hogging all professional doctor. But competition will lower the price for sure
Because he only talks about UBI and nothing else...Bernie all the way. UBI is nice but Bernie’s reforms are more comprehensive. Plus he supports UBI too.
yolo siwa because you didn't bother to look up his 150+ policies... Sanders flip floppwd on Ubi. He was caught on video telling a college student he doesn't support Ubi and laughed it off. Then now he all of a sudden thinks it's a good idea. You can thank Andrew Yang for that
LISTEN UP!!! If we want Andrew Yang to win the oval office, we have to mobilize and spread the word. If you like his ideas, I highly encourage you read up more up on his policies and start teaching other people about him. Word of mouth is crucial. Make it a goal to bring his campaign up in conversation to at least one or two people a week. Post about it on your social medias. Just get the word out. Once people hear his name enough they'll start to understand what he is fighting for and why he's right.
He should explain the effects more. Like a father having to make a decision either to fix the car he needs to go to work or getting clothes and supplies for his kids and forgoing the monthly night out. After the dividend, he is able to do all with less stress. He is not the only one and the repair shop, parts shop and diner gets more business, and hires more employees. The mother who needed to work a 2nd job can now spend more time with kids, who get better grades. She can now have time for volunteer work. Etc etc.
What you’d you do with 1000 dollars a month? I would quit my job and focus on school (I’m a college student) my job is only $7 an hour so I’m barely making more than $12000 a year
I’d be able stay home after having my first child & be a stay at home mom for the first year or so of her life until I could find a good job & my boyfriend & I could save more per month for our first house.
I would finish my degree y going back to college than finally work a career I love. When I became a mother, working and going to school became something not financially possible.
Kate that’s not true, 1. UBI is opt in, so if there’s another program you would rather use then you can keep it. 2. You can have UBI and disability. 3. You can have UBI and social security.
Not to mention UBI would likely eliminate the need for most entitlement programs. Even with no job thats 12K a year. Yeah it's not great but combine that with a min wage job working overtime and youre well above the poverty line. I mean, why not just fire the beaurocrats and give their salaries to the poor they're supposed to help?
Where would the money come from? We're here in 2021 seeing skyrocketing inflation because of international quantitative easing. The first thing world leaders need to do is fix money, it needs to become fungible again, not fiat. Second what should be looked at again is Milton Friedman's reverse income tax. And it all has to be affordable and executable.
NOT UBI..it's a Government Funded Program!! "MY FINANCIAL FREEDOM PLAN WOULD GIVE $20,000 to 86,000,000 people that live below the poverty line IN 6 MONTHS..."Jason Cutshaw
Watching this in 2023 is just depressing... I really hope Andrew runs again and that America can get behind his ideas next time, but... probably won't happen.
we all owe him a apogoize. we thought he was crazy 10 years ago. now look. 2023 they doing this to stop poverty all over the world. and now coming to the u.s. in small cities.
I know how you feel, now we have to deal with Biden or Trump. We could have gotten a somewhat revolutionary policy that would have worked by boosting the economy so that people can afford to buy things....instead we got 2 old dinosaurs going at each other for president again....sigh.
On its base I think the policy is a great idea but I don't hear much else from him except for this one thing. Whereas Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are covering different topic after different topic and they have plans and that's where my vote is gonna go at this point. Until Yang can start showing me a lot more then I think he's been a great addition to this race but unfortunately he is not won over my vote.
sweetboo1022 Look at his global warming debates and healthcare debates. Many of the big corporations, news sites, and others don’t really want to show how he’s progressing, because he’s breaking the system.
He’s got over 100 policies, this is just the one most people seem to focus on. He works very closely with Bernie on the healthcare debate and advocates for doing everything we can against climate change.
Check out his website with over 100+ Policy ideas. UBI might be what you hear most from him because that is what he is asked about the most, however he has a climate change Policy, student loan policy, Medicare for All, criminal justice reform, etc.
Wouldn’t this just cause massive inflation 🤔 Rent prices would sky rocket businesses would just charge more money Companies would just raise the prices of their goods and services to compensate for the tax ultimately the cost is passed back down to the consumer
No money is being printed so that will help reduce possible inflation by a lot. Many businesses support this because they also want to automate things and the only way they keep getting money is if the people they put out of work still have money and can find other jobs. This will also give people the option to support small local business who will have no reason to increase prices since they won't really be affected by the vat. With increased competition prices will stay mostly level. The amount of inflation rise will not be more than the benefit added to people. Also, yang has a lot of other policies on his website worth looking at that are great. We need to do something to combat the large automation wave coming and this is a good place to start even if it isn't the ultimate end goal
Good on you man. Considering how many lies have been spread by pro-Bernie RU-vid channels (like you are forced to give up your benefits, or that Yang is not for M4A) it takes a lot of courage to stand up and say "I can think for myself, and I am not afraid of you guys being angry at me". ✌️
I've been wondering how/what Andrew Yang was doing lately, so I looked him up and this was the first thing that popped up. I think this would really help us right now. Most ppl are really struggling in this post-pandemic world - its not bc of this administration, didn't anyone take economics or W.Civ in high school? I'm sick & tired of everyone blaming Biden for the price of housing, groceries & gas. I'm a Bernie supporter through & through, I didn't even want to vote for Biden, but he really has surpassed my expectations. With that said, he really needs to step it up & get trump & his treacherous traitors out of the game. They are doing everything they can do cheat their way into the WH and destroy our country.
This was 2019. 1 year before covid19 pandemic happend. Imagine if Yang became president and we had UBI during covid? It would have made it more barable.
@vectoralphaAI wrong. It would have blossomed. There is too much to explain. I did the math after covid and nothing beats Google, Amazon, and the US military (if you know what I mean). So, it would have changed the US forever.
@vectoralphaAI oh! I read it wrong. Somehow I read it unbearable 😂 My fault

Andrew, I didn't believe in this income, but now it makes sense. You have my vote. Enough with Republican greed. Let's do something real transformative in this country!
I mean, Yang started a company that helped create thousands of jobs in an area he identified as one with a need for exactly that kind of infusion. And his Democracy Dollars policy will make it easier for politicians to get things done without constant obstruction, because it washes out corporate donation money that is endlessly fighting against good people like Sanders helping Americans. With Yang's Democracy Dollars, Freedom Dividend, Medicare For All, and Ranked Choice Voting among other things, we can accomplish more in three years than we have in the last ten.
right! I can make plans for that money, so i can buy a house and not worry i'd lose it. Knowing a computer could do my job i don't do that right now. I can't even imagine making a 30 year long promise to pay someone - who the eff knows what will be left for me to do in 30 years! I'm no dummy and i work hard but i still can't make the moves my parents made 10 years younger. It's the mindset of scarcity thing he talks about. Gotta get everyone's head up so we can respond to the real world together.
No not at all. UBI is a handout given to people as a means of being pawns on a chessboard and does not in no way addresses the fundamental issues causing inequality.
I like Yang he’s not just focused on dem or republican like hes focusing on the American people. So far both sides have turned the government into high school a bunch of in mature kids roasting on each other it’s stupid. He’s taking it and turning it into a business that will thrive for years doesn’t matter who you are or support
yangs shiny new neoliberal technocratic version of UBI is eerily similar to that proposed capitalist con-man Milton Friedman in his 1962 book “Capitalism and Freedom”and again in his 1980 book "Free to Choose". Sound familiar. But why would Milton Friedman, an outspoken free market capitalist, support UBI? he viewed it as a way to wean the masses off of government programs So that he would have less opposition in privatization of social programs as well as Deregulation and globalization of big business. This is the last thing America needs right now. Do you really think that these millionaires and billionaires would be endorsing him and funding his campaign if it wasn't going to benefit them in the long run. I implore you to do your research before endorsing this capitalist in progressive packaging.
All is one Point taken....that’s why we learn from the past without tossing out the baby with the bath water. Safeguard the legislation unless you’re saying this can’t work no matter how you cut it?? Also i would think one unfortunately has to make it someone what appealing to the millions n billionaires who dominate messaging to the masses.🤷🏾♂️ So it becomes like “Obamacare” or furthermore the concept of universal healthcare, both of which I was and still am a bit skeptical of. BUT......I’m more appalled by the poor quality or total lack of healthcare my fellow Americans are faced with. I guess the good question is well “where does it end” right? I dunno. I just know death, disease and hunger NEVER work so we gotta come up with ideas that DO while moving forward with the concerns you and others bring to the table. Safeguard it👊
Make no mistake - the Reps are the ones most opposed to this. They REFUSE to consider raising corporation taxation to pay for benefits that go to others instead of themselves. Republicans would end SS and Medicare if they were able to.
When I first heard about his UBI, I thought "No this guy's crazy, bribing people with money for votes", but then I saw his podcasts with Joe Rogan and even Ben Shapiro. This guy has my full support now. He know's what he's talking about.
WE need to tie UBI to GDP at 30% or more to robotics as well so if robotics and GDP increase everyone's income increases... Robotics becomes more efficient anyway in the end... and less production from humans is needed and more fun realms will happen for humans instead of just work! So that's how we have to think...
Same, Bonnie. He's my guy. One of only two candidates that over 10% of Trump supporters said they would vote for, which means if he's the nominee, he's got this.
The VAT is added to everything. Yang claims he MAY exclude food staples from the tax but thats a MAY not a promise. The Swiss rejected the $34000 a year UBI because they didnt see why thwy shouls give rich people $34000 a year extra and give the rest of the population such a low rate. Yangs UBI is below the poverty line.
@αlιуαн Most of those polls are done by calling mainly retirees on landline phones, and sometimes it's been noted that Yang's name isn't even brought up by the caller. How many people do you suppose even keep those phones around? That's not a metric we need to be holding up as sacred, especially when we consider how many times they've been wrong in recent election history. Yikes. Yang raised over a million dollars in donations in almost one night, while also gaining the most social media follows and highest campaign website traffic all within the same span of hours. Seems his chances aren't so bad as some would have us believe. I like Sanders, but anyone who votes for him again, I hope it won't be because they were mislead by these kinds of points. In the end, isn't helping the American people what matters most?

No it isn't. It's an interesting theory, but how do you prevent inflation from eating that measly $1000 a month right up? Once instituted you don't think landlords, businesses, etc. are going to jack up rents and prices? You don't think people, many who would be unaccustomed to handling the extra money, will be willing to pay more for products/services now that they have the additional money? ...just like the theory of the "livable wage" proposition, universal basic income is a minor, temporary band-aid that will be quickly absorbed by a supply/demand market economy. Also, for many, handing them $1000 dollars a month will simply equal $1000 worth of junk food, lottery tickets, cigarettes, alcohol, jewelry, video games, etc... --- such consumption would add a little back into the economy, but nothing of real value to aid in the PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT necessary to navigate a world of continuing rapid change and immense technological progress. ....................... REAL SOLUTION: "UNIVERSAL BASIC RESOURCES" provide full healthcare, basic food & housing vouchers (that can be added to by each individual as desired), and unlimited education to everyone, so that they no longer have to struggle to stay healthy, or put a roof over their heads, or go without education, but instead can focus fully on BETTERING THEMSELVES... therefore creating a BETTER WORLD for all of us.
Jorel Byssainthe it would work if everyone invested there money and gave it back to the economy George bush did this back in his time and everyone just kept it no one spent it, they have also tried this is Mississippi and it didn’t work, once people get this money they don’t wanna work after that and that’s what kills this idea he needs to figure out how to get people to work the same hours and not revive everyone there paycheck from the government and quit there job

@Kate It's important to remember that people will not just quit their jobs once they have a guaranteed income of 12k. I certainly would not be complacent and quit working on 12k a year. One of the biggest ideas behind the whole plan is that it will stimulate activity in the economy and encourage more people to patronize small and local businesses. Small businesses are not only integral to the local US economies in many ways but they are also largely immune to automation and AI. Can you imagine an automated plumber or electrician anytime soon?
Well I reckon maybe 1% would actually quit their jobs (especially if they didn't like their jobs). Also I think it's a bit silly to give a multi-millionaire who has a company that pollutes badly $1000 a month extra, while punishing tech companies. It seems like Pol Pot. Lets punish the educated.
