Trishya Screwvala offers three reasons why volunteering can be one of the most transformative experiences for an individual. In an inspiring talk, she highlights how volunteering encourages each of us to bring forth the best version of ourselves, and can serve as a powerful tool to effect change in our world.
Trishya Screwvala founded The Lighthouse Project with the aim of creating structured and accessible platforms for volunteering. She is also an active volunteer at New Acropolis, an international organisation dedicated to Philosophy, Culture and Volunteering. Trishya believes that service is not just a duty but an extraordinary opportunity, and is passionate about creating an environment conducive to volunteering, both within and outside of the social sector.
The Lighthouse Project is one of India’s first mentoring programs which connects professionals and college students with children from under resourced communities through one-on-one mentoring, with the aim of developing their life skills, social skills and exposing them to a world beyond their community This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. It serves as an inspirational reminder of the positive change that can occur when individuals come together with a shared purpose, fostering a sense of connection, empathy, and shared responsibility. It highlights the transformative impact of volunteering on individuals and the broader society.

Having listened to Trisha's commendable and thought provoking speech, all we need to do is to translate her universal msg into action by ourselves becoming a befittingly altruistic volunteers and catering to the needs of the beings of lesser God and serve humanity in the truest sense

I agree with this video, being a volunteer is very important, especially for low-income people or human beings who cannot defend themselves, such as grandparents, dogs and orphaned babies, being a volunteer is a risky job but at the same time you feel very proud of the jobs that contribute to society, particularly when you help your neighbor without needing anything in return, To be a good volunteer we first have to commit to the cause, even if there is no remuneration, the best inspiration is to see all the people happy, my greatest admiration for all the volunteers in the world, especially the firefighters who risk their lives every day without any payment, they have a great determination.

All we need to do after listening to Trusha's commendable speech is to focus on her thought provoking speech only to translate it into action by being a living example of becoming a befitingly altruistic volunteer.
