Funny enough. I was actually watching Duel Monsters 1st season yesterday, and I was like. "Man, there's so much bullshit rules in the anime" and "Yeah, nobody would play that card today. Thank you for this. This was so heartwarming and relatable. I remember like it was yesterday when Yugioh first came out and I was 8 years old and absolutely none of us knew how to play. It wasn’t until I played tournaments in Toys R Us that I realized following the show is not how you actually played the game!

when i was in elementary school i played with a some years older guy yugioh and we played the winner gets a card from the other and he pulled this fusion metal snake dragon and said it has a hidden ability thats not on the cards text and won this way. I refused to give him my blue eyes white dragon and he went to my mom and she said i shouldnt be a sore loser and give him the card. :D i was so pissed

Ya, the way these two friends were playing def reminded me of playing magic cards with my friend when I was 10. One "duel" we each had out like 30 random creatures covering half the floor of my bedroom. Neither really wanted to attack, we just wanted to cast more of our cards out :).

@@swagmotherfucka yes, until it was changed because someone brought a 2, 222 card deck. Took hours and after the completion of the match. New rules were in place on time per turn and minimum/maximum decks were instated.

Now it makes no sense. Guy uses card effect to start his 15+ special summon 1 turn win strat and you destroy the card because if you are playing the video game it'll ask you if you want to do anything to stop it, but even though you destroy the card before the effect starts it still goes through

@@Romar-io it's a lot to learn now, but if you're referring to/have played Master Duel I'd recommend the solo mode a lot. It's lacking a bit of the most recent sets, and the forbidden/limited list is different from the physical TCG, but I'd say Konami's done pretty good to teach the modern game to players. It's not the same game as it was 20 years back, but that's just how any game evolves over time

Quite the opposite for me. Making the best plays out of what you've got available has always been the most fun for me. Everyone can win by having the best hand and the standard combo. Winning by coming up with the best and creative strategy on the spot is how the elite duels.

@@pandaman1331 that is why I play adamancipators, they have combos that depend on what you excavate and make each hand and duel different with the different ways to get to the end board. Even the end boards can be different depending on how well you used your resources.

I think it would have made more sense if say the fusion was say 100% the stronger monster plus 50% of the weaker monster. The general rule of fusion monsters is that their atk and def are less than the sum of its parts.

Well at the first duel Kaiba vs Yugi you could just summon without tributes but you could attacks only once per turn. I don't remember if it changed on Pegasus's island or battle city.

They (the characters) just said there were new rules and that’s it. Joey got mocked because he didn’t know the new rules so he summoned a 5 stars monster (Panther Warrior if I remember it right) directly and it faded away.

I used to think putting kuribo with giant soldier of stone, winged dragon of the fortress and other cards yugi had was a brilliant strategy. I never thought that it would be a thing of being collectables and would worth so much money in the future. My brothers and I would flick those cards at each other like ninja stars. When me and my sister played, we wouldnt attack if it meant the end of the game. We legit would just pass the turn to see if the other could pull off a good move. But it would end up to where we would run out of cards. Or one would win and then we would go through the rest of the deck to see what combos we couldve done had we not ended! So freaking awesome yall recreated something so magical. Thank you for the amazing memories!

The joke about the ground and night time giving the monsters more power should’ve been used in more of the video games. It’s a unique enough idea and if games like Duelist of the Roses / Falsebound Kingdom / Capsule Monster Coliseum got sequels with more polish then it would be really cool.

Always wanted to play falsebound kingdom but I never owned a gamecube. They really need to port the older games to like the switch or something like Nintendo is doing to older games... Before you say it, I've tried a gamecube emulator I can never get it to function properly.

I showed mercy in a duel earlier by not attacking my opponent right away they went first weren’t lucky then it was my turn I got lucky and had everything to End the duel setup, but me being the kind person I am I felt bad and didn’t attack, let them go again they destroyed the field and didn’t show me the same mercy. Never again

I remember my mate teaching me Yu-Gi-Oh and he would summon a god card and I'd use dark whole or something that didn't target and he was like well it's a god card it can't be beaten like that so I was just like makes sense. How can it be beaten. Well since slither has X000 attack (the can't duel with this one version) its Roman numeral for 10000 so u need a card with more than 10000 attack😂 we hadn't seen draw effect in the show yet so genuinely thought slither just gets 10k when summoned😂

Yugioh wasn't exactly ripe with instruction booklets. If it wasn't for video games, then I'd still be playing most of the game wrong. I don't remember having anything that explained the difference between send to the graveyard and discard, or negate and destroy, etc.

When everyone played hand control cards, they fucked yugioh up by making a "ban list" though. We should all get together and get a petition going to remove the ban list for good so everyone can use any card they want and make any build that they want. This is ridiculous already, imagine...creating cards and then telling people that they can't use them. That's some real hoe shit right there, yugioh has been in the shitter since cards got banned.

Granted I was also almost ALWAYS undefeated since I would help my opponent while dueling and would get a very bad deck order so I couldn't pull off any combos.
