ℹ️INFO
Even though our RV/travel trailer freshwater tank can hold 48 gallons, we like to extend it so we can stay at a campsite or campground for up to two weeks. Since our wastewater tanks (grey/black) are 70 gallons in total, we can add more clean water to our freshwater tank.
In this video, Jenni shows how we store the extra potable/fresh water, our water transfer solution to the RV/travel trailer, and shares some tips and tricks. It matters what kind of pump you use. The extra water makes it possible for us to take showers every day, do dishes, and other things that the fresh (potable) water is useful for.

👫🏻ABOUT
Hey, we're Jenni and Jesse. In the fall of 2019, we started traveling full-time in our RV/travel trailer. After years of being inspired by other RV full-time travelers on RU-vid, we were able to realize our dream and do it ourselves. Now we're documenting and sharing our adventure, both to have a way to look back at the trip in the future and to inspire others to get out there. If you can't travel yourself, you're always welcome to join us on our journey right here!

I read the instructions. Everything came in however there was some errors. The 3/4 pvc end cap will not screw onto the 1/2 in barb on the end of the hose that goes into the water jugs, for obvious reasons. Plus the fittings that came with the pump were designed for at least a 3/4 ID hose, not a 1/2 in ID. Unless the design I got has changed from the link to Amazon. The pump comes with the 4 adapters, 2 were threaded and 2 were slip tubing. Two of them were 1/2 in threaded fittings not 1/4 inch, the slip tubing adapters were both 3/4 inch. The 1/2 inch threaded adapter fits good n the 1/2 coupler and the male to female 1/2-3/4 inch hose adapter though.

Cool Idea. I've seen some folks with a bladder laying in the bed of their pickup. Could that be plumbed to feed water to the city water hookup? Sort of an on demand water system and would let you keep your fresh water tank full and available when your other sources were gone.

I think that could work really well. If you use the water pump in your RV at the same time it would help keep the water pressure consistent.

Why don't you get a food grade 55 gallon drum (see Craigslist) or a large storage tank from Northern Tool or Tractor Supply? Much easier than all those little tanks and also check into a white RV hose when transferring water to your RV. White hose won't leave a nasty taste in the water.

ease of transfer of container if loaded. 40 lbs vs 400 lbs. but, i like your thinking as well!

It looks like she’s using a Zero G hose. Those are drinking water safe.

@@misteraon COOL didn't realize they were safe for drinking water! I'll keep that in mind when it comes time to retire my white RV hose.

@@alanosborne1947 yeah apparently they are. A lot of RVers seem to favor them nowadays and make reference that they are drinking water safe. They like them because they don’t tend to kink as much and take less space to store. I have a Harbor Freight knock off that was listed as drinking water safe on the packaging.

Great job we use the same jugs but only got 3 and Fabian always pick it up and gravity feed it in our tanks this would be better.

Awesome tip. What do you call that adapter at the end of tube by the water jug with a holes on it?
@TakeMetotheWildWoods
@TakeMetotheWildWoods 3 года назад
i think it was just a screw on cap from hardware store plumbing section, then modified/improved/diy with holes drilled in it.
