How We Make Ads Better *Ad That Plays On Video Is About A Bootleg Pokémon Game On Google Play Store*

I'm an AdWords advertiser and wish to validate the claims in this video. I read the guidelines and policies that govern advertising on the Google search and display networks and was so impressed by how much effort had gone into screening "crappy" sites, that I started questioning my own work. I re-read the guidelines and decided there were a few potential concerns. I emailed Google asking for a manual review. Google responded with a point by point review AND follow up advice. They really care!

A large majority of ads are pay per impression, not per click. It doesn't matter whether or not you click on something, or use the ad, or are interested in the ad. They help build brand recognition. They do lose money this way, because you're using their bandwidth without them getting anything in return. Yea, it's insignificant for a gigantic site like youtube, but for smaller sites, it can really hurt them.

Do ads still exist on the internet? I haven't seen any of them from quite some time now thanks to the ad blockers.

The video ads do hit for bandwidth a bit sometimes. I would like a button to give my condolences to Ford and some movie producers for alienating me forever and get 20 text ads instead, some times. Other times I want to say thanks for the phonics song and colored blobs, but my kid's not going to spring for PCB quotes and high-volume reverse osmosis right now, just get me the same think in Hebrew, Korean, Laat, Hungarian, etc.

Could you expand that into a kind of goodnight moon sort of thing, leavening it (well...DWIM) for some of the more compelling kinds of safety fault and noncompliance?

I see more scam ads and malware site-infection ads than actual safe ads. Excellent work, Google.

There are sites that are not dependant on search engines. Sites which only a handful of visits come from search engines, actually.

this, with no script, flash block, and cookie safe. man my "net experience" is so convoluted.

What are these sort of ads called? I mean is there a specific category or name to such ads? I have been viewing these sort of ads a lot and I just love them.

Whether you like it or not, advertisement makes the internet go round. It keeps websites free and open to the public.

does chrome allow users to block advertisments? hope so :D It's useful to not see any ads at all :P

That there isn't entirely Google's problem. Ads such as those you said will not all get removed unless people report them.

Google should take this information and make a 30 second commercial.

You probably won't see this Google, but it would be great if you could apply some of that technology to RU-vid to stop people posting fake videos that are a. Scams, b. Fake (Like movie trailer that then make some money from the ads they put on them) c. Re-uploads that are taking views away from the first artist. If that video is remixed that is in its own category. I just mean replica re-uploads. Thanks! Love the work your guys do. Couldn't imagine my life without Google!

Never had a problem with ads since I installed adblock plus in firefox.

@Suki Singh when you associated G+ to Toutube you had the choice. I think you can change it in the options. For the like I don't know for me i's still here and the +1 too.

you really made ads awsome, by making the america tanks ad move the whole video right so you cant exit the advert, most of the video is not visible and allowing me to get really annoyed. anyone else have this problem?

My friends sabotaj my ads.. by clicking it repeatedly on my blog.. the only reason I get is click fraud .. then... to make sure everyone will get banned too.. just click it everyday on ur enemy site or u want.. that is sad

@YellowCrowncp They NEED to VET the apps before putting on the market. Also a name change! Some apps take the p!ss, wanting permissions way above what they need. Google just don't care.

Google is great for end users. But companies and developers have really hard time with them.

@aykincakaloz Good point there, didn't even take a second thought about that. Thats the problem with big companies, little ideas that the users and coders are usually aware of don't usually make it up to the top. Then you've got the whole separate entity issue as well. One day mate, one day haha
