Today we’ll show you how we potty trained our baby from birth! Our daughter, now 10 months old, poops most of the time in the potty, and also pees in the potty regularly. We guided her using a practice called elimination communication or EC that is practiced worldwide. We’ve found EC to be amazing in our journey as parents thus far, and hope that this video is helpful for those curious and who want to learn more!

😍 when my niece would refuse to be potty trained at 2 and a half I just started putting her in panties and getting her dressed. It only took about two poop accidents where the poop ran down her and got all over her until she decided the toilet was a good idea. People dont realize the diaper is a hindrance to a child knowing that they are pooping in their pants and that it stinks. No one wants poop on them. Even a 2 year old. When she was covered in stinky poop from the waist down instead of it neatly packaged in her absorbent diaper. That was enough for her to decide on her own to start using the toilet.

That’s a great perspective. I’ve worked at daycares and the stress that parents feel when they have to quickly potty train their kids so they can be accepted at that daycare or in a specific classroom (split by age group) always affected the kids. At that point they’re old enough to catch on to the frustration and stress around accidents. Idk. I feel like doing it this young and with less stress would be very healthy.

@Sammy Torres literally all I did was start sitting him on the potty once he was old enough to sit up. My plan was just to sit him on there a few minutes a day so he would be used to the potty and not scared of it. As soon as he would use it I would take him off so after a while he just learned that he could use the bathroom and I would take him off. He couldn’t talk to tell me when he needed the bathroom but he would just wait til I would sit him on it. He was my first child and I was a stay at home mom so I had nothing better to do than to just work with him lol

@Sammy Torres people are always going to have their opinions but you’re the mom and all that matters is what you feel is right. When I did this I didn’t even tell anyone because I didn’t want them to say I was crazy. Specially because I was a young mom. But when he was potty trained before a year old no one had anything bad to say. Everyone was amazed that I didn’t have to buy diapers. With my other two I didn’t do this only because I was working and didn’t have time. They were potty trained around a year and half. With them I was just like “hey, this is long enough.. no more diapers” and just stopped using them and they didn’t take long at all to catch on. I can easily potty train a kid.. house training a pet on the other hand, I suck at lol

All my 3 kids were potty trained within 2 weeks. Dry in the day and dry at night. My girl had a couple of accidents at night at the start if she had too much to drink but the boys didn’t have a single accident. I started potty training mine when they were ready (2-3years). Why would you spend a year potty training? Parenthood is hard enough as it is x
@LottyDotty05
@LottyDotty05 3 года назад
@@TanzaniteHayley It basically became routine. Honestly we kinda fell into potty training. One morning while on vacation I noticed she hadn't peed in her diaper so i sat her on the toilet as a joke. You could imagine my shock when she actually used it. So we just kept doing it. but a few mos of training and we moved to the next phase. So she was in pull ups by 1 and 6 mos later we were in undies. Also, we worked extremely irregular schedules so my grandmother had her a majority of the time so she would be left to potty training and while still very active that was a huge undertaking to leave to her. To add to it the daycare she would be attending required her to be some what potty trained before entering. Now with my schedule two weeks of training seems doable but I'm a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" girl.🤣 This way worked there's no going back.

Potty training from birth is basically potty training for 18 months. If you potty train at 2 years old, it takes about 2 weeks max. 2 weeks and a diaper bill? Or 18 months of running after your child trying to see their pee cues. Perhaps if you have just ONE child, or you are so poor that you cannot afford diapers, then this is a good method.

I beg people to not try this.At least try to read up on it first. I would not encourage potty training before 2 years old and I don’t know many experts who do. In early childhood education we are taught the most important thing is for a baby to learn autonomy and play. Potty training will come when they ready. It makes no sense to force a child under 2 to hold his penis and pee properly when he has more important things to learn at that age.

But often it’s not necessarily that the children ar fully potty trained, but more that parents recognise the signals that the baby needs to go to potty. I once a guest in a Chinese community. Several times, people suddenly got up with their baby and hold them near a tree to let the baby go potty. I was impressed.

I only watched your video out of curiosity and to just have background noise, but I ended up being blown away! I've never even heard of EC! I love how EC respects the baby by saying they are capable of things as long as adults provide a safe means for them to try. I've been also reading up on Montessori principles to hopefully help me with my 7-month old, and EC seems to fall VERY much in line with that... I'm going to start looking up the potty products you mention!

I’ve never studied up on Montessori training in my time as a babysitter or nanny, but I like my independence so it’s always part of how I teach children. I mostly care for babies and toddlers and sometimes pre-schoolers. My mindset is always give them a chance to try something, let them learn from their experiences, and provide a safe space. I’m always amazed by what children can accomplish when we trust them.

See thats the thing. It isn't just training baby..its training mom and dad too. The infant can't get to a potty alone and you have to have a very open schedule and not a need for outside child care to do this(trust me that daycare is not keeping up with your child's potty schedule when they are too young to walk to a potty alone and have to be held over it and communicated to in order to go). It's a commitment most families don't have the luxury of doing now a days in 2 income families. More power to those who have the time and ability tho. 👍

It’s always nice to see someone else who is from Hawaii on here. I’m from Ewa Beach, and then later lived in Makakilo right about the time that Kapolei started booming. We moved to Iowa just days before Christmas in 1996 to take care of my grandpa during his final years. We intended to go back home; my grandpa passed in 2004, but we’re still here. I see a lot of stickers on car windows with the outline of the state of Iowa that say “Native” in the middle. I saw the perfect one for me a couple of weeks ago that also had the outline of the state of Iowa, but in the middle it said “Captive.” That’s how I feel. I’m SO homesick, but it’s just too expensive to move back. At least we have family and friends still there.🤙🏼

He then started pooping in the potty (I can imagine much more comfortable doing that than in a diaper). Now when he makes a face of '' I need to poop'' I take him to potty. Once warmer months start I plan on putting him on potty more through the day as will have less layers to remove. I think EC is such an amazing thing to do with your babies. I have 3 very young grandchildren now & 1 on the way. I'm sharing this with my children. At least it could save them some money not to mention it could help them get all their children potty trained at such a young age. Thank you so much for sharing! I certainly appreciate it & my grown children may also appreciate this info as well. When you said that y'all didn't start trying EC until after the first 6 weeks... boy oh boy do I ever remember those days. I also had to take care of my 2nd grandchild the first 4 to 6 weeks of his life because my daughter almost bled to death from a 2 degree tare after delivering him and had to recover from that so the exhaustion alone from just feeding a newborn every 1.5 to 2 hours is enough to deal with the first month to two months of their lives. I couldn't imagine starting the EC right after the baby is born. Still... thank you again for sharing! May the Lord God Almighty bless you and your beautiful family in Jesus name. Shalom!

I've never had kids and this was always something I wondered about. I know someone who never seemed to be potty training her kid, he had to be enrolled at a "special" school because by the time he was starting school, he had so much anxiety around the topic. I'd never known of a similar situation but I guess teachers can't be changing kids at school. Your little one is a little darling, such a good girl ☺️
