The primary chemical products used for odor removal was Tabac Atak = ProRestore Odor X Tabac Attack and I believe IA= Isopropyl Alcohol.

Very good. This is the only video that actually shows the hard work to chase smoke odor. I have a car that smells like an ashtray even a year later. I"ve skipped detailing steps and that's why it still smells.

how long do you leave it air out for? i am hearing so many mixed results and just ran a 30 min ozone treatment for my car, let it sit for 30 and now airing it out but don't know how long to leave it.. some are saying days, some say an hour...

I would like to add this service to my detailing business but I heard that ozone treatments can possibly bleach the interior if there are any chemical residue from the cleaning process. What products do you use when doing this service?

The problem is, the odor is in the heat ducts and the heater core / air conditioner core inside the dash. Pulling the heating / cooling system out and physically washing all components is the only way to eliminate the odor.

ps, when treating with ozone, you should have the car running with the AC on 30-60 min..

Pine Sol and soapy water works great. Nicotine has to be cleaned out by hand. Ozone treatment might help break it down but it doesn't just magically disappear.

yup, we run it for 4 to 6 hours. turns off on its own. Move vehicle outside and air out

I did this, it works at first but the smell comes back after a couple weeks. You have to get it out of all the fabrics or it will always come back.

My car was stolen and the thieves stuffed everything they owned in my vehicle. It was recovered in less than 12 hours but now there is an unbelievably bad smell in my car that I can't get rid of. It is almost indescribable like a wet carpet oozing out a metallic funk. What on earth could have caused that? It is near undrivable now.

What brushes do you use for you drill? I have bought 2 sets of Amazon and they all have broke where the metal is molded I to the plastic. Maybe it's user error but I figured I would ask, also what do you use for brushing the headliner?

We change our method based on the condition of the headliner. This one was in great condition so it was easy to spray and agitate. Others, we might go with a more gentle cleaning

FYI, many times the smoke odor is coming from the AC system. The evaporator coil MUST BE thoroughly flushed/washed and treated with a Lysol type product. In the video you don't show any of that treatment?

We usually run it for 4 to 6 hours and let it air out for an hour or so. You have to time everything to make sure you stay on track

It’s just a typical polisher with a gentle microfiber pad, the same kind you use for final stage paint polishing. It’s the most effective way to clean a headliner. Do it all the time in my detailing business.

@@JacobThomas_17 I use Koch Chemie Polstar or P&S Carpet Bomber. You can use anything that’s made for textiles or even ONR or McKees 37 rinseless wash diluted down to their interior cleaning ratios. Just don’t use an APC or a degreaser like Super Clean because they can damage the glue that holds the headliner in place causing it to sag. Just spray the cleaner on the microfiber pad instead of the headliner. If you have a bad stain spray it onto soft bristle brush to agitate it and then go over it with the polisher. Use a dry microfiber towel after to soak up any excess liquid left over.

I don’t offer this service because most of the smell comes from a cabin filter an ozone machine will only do so much when they smoked in it religiously. I don’t want to pull the dash to get to a filter. Most smokers smoke when the air is on so that smoke/tar/nicotine etc. is being pulled through the cabin filter. When smokers smoke in their vehicles with air not circulating through the ac the smoke just stains the windows,plastics and fabrics in the cabin
