In 2020, our sheep farming journey began and we loved every single bit of it. The ups and downs were a perfect learning ground to the good things that were ahead of us.
This year 2024, is our 4th year into this. we have a good breeding stock and we are keen to grow our flock to the thousands. Buckle up and enjoy the journey with us.

Identification and keeping proper records will help you to avoid inbreeding. Another thing, in future, make sure that the ram won't "accidentally" mate with its offspring for lack of control since they seem to graze together most of the time.

With the breed of sheep that you have, do they need to be sheared? Also what kinds of sheep are native to where you are in the world?

The dorper sheep do not actually have wool. They have hair. And the ram we have is a dorper ram that is an improved breed from South Africa that is very resilient to harsh conditions. The hair naturally falls off especially after deworming. With the rest of the ewes which are local, they have a mix of both hair and wool that also fall off but can also be sheared. But in other parts of Kenya we have those that require shearing. We are soon going to do a video that elaborates on the kinds of sheep native to Africa. Stay tuned. Thank you very much `EK
