Haha.... Wow.... Thanks for the replies everybody, really humbled. I've not much hair left now and I'm OK with the bed wetting now! Lol... Thanks everybody... Be well 👍
It wasn't all that different. I remember an episode of Dad's Army, where they were all at the cinema and they played God Save The King at the end of the film. Captain Mainwaring was almost trampled to death in the rush to get out to avoid having to stand to attention.
A charming series. I love how the family is so kind and helpful , and how they all pitch in to help each other. It needs to be more like that with families today.
My mother was just three at the time and father not yet seven. Neither were evacuated from their homes but my mother remembered evacuees being billeted with neighbours! Grandpa was an ARP Warden when not in his reserved occupation!
I remember the teacher making us watch this, bored me senseless in junior school, but cant get enough of it now... 40yrs later.. So much to learn from it, I know all bout the war but this captures the feeling of it, wish I had given it chance as an 8yr old
I still have a piece of schoolwork somewhere i did as a 7 or 8 year old in the mid 80s after watching this in class! Many Many memories and i can smell the paper towels and the lunch hall from my Primary school as i type!!!
Never seen this before loving the series I was born in 42 so I can imagine my family. It also helps as I miss the UK so mush, live in the US and never felt at home.
You could always come home, I presume you still have family here. I’ve visited USA a number of times but the lack of medical aid and the number of guns in circulation frighten me
@@mikefawdrey6113 Hello Mike, thank you for your very nice message, and also I didn't realize that there were many other episodes, they popped up when I read your message so a very big thanks you. I would love to return home but I have no family left, and very little money. I share your concern about US terribly expensive medical and guns galore!
