I remember doing mum's ironing in the kitchen, carefully timed so that I could listen to the Archers on the radio. It was a great series in those days (1970s/early 80s).

Avril and Laurence were great characters - especially Laurence, he always makes me laugh! It is really sad how they were both killed off in the 1954-1970 series, they were killed in a car crash on their son's birthday. A bit disturbing for a schools programme - you actually see their car explode and burst into flames.

The wife acts as if she better than her nabours, she's a snob but got nothing to be snobby about. She's horrible to miss you whonext door.
