Minccino and Cinccino are pronounced with "ch" because the "c" before and "i" in Italian makes that sound.

- Meditite: I think you’re both right. Toby seems to enunciate more but if you do say it quickly like Lockstin the t does turn into a d. It seems strange because that normally happens with double t (“little”), but it doesn’t sound wrong. - Minccino, Cinccino: The pokémon are very clearly based on chinchillas, and cc can also produce a “ch” sound. (Have you ever ordered a “cappuccino?”)

Minccino and Cinccino being pronounced with a “ch-“ sound is the correct pronunciation, and the reason for that is because its name is derived from Italian. When you look at a word like “cappuccino”, you pronounce the third syllable as “chi” in English because of Italian grammar rules, where a “c” followed by an “i” or an “e” is “chi” or “che” in English, and “ch” in Italian followed by an “i” or an “e” is a hard “c” in English. Also, the number of “c’s” doesn’t affect the pronunciation, like “ciao” (pronounced “chow”), and “fettuccine” (pronounced “fettuchine”), it’s still pronounced the same. So there for, Minccino is pronounced “Min-chee-no” and Cinccino is “Chin-chee-no.

Incidentally, I've always pronounced Zapdos more like Zap-Doss, because to me that sounds more like the Spanish for Dos than a "Dose" sound does (and the latter feels more different to say as well). I also pronounce Gyarados like that too, but that's just because I think it sounds better to my ears.

It was never Pronounced ar-see-us. Pokemon Battle Revolution isn't developed by Game Freak, it was developed by Genius Sonority, and therefore the pronunciations are unofficial. Likewise, prior to generation 5, the anime was dubbed by 4kids (not the Pokemon Company) and therefore are also unofficial. You can use Pokedex 3D pro as a reference for official pronunciations in generations 1-5, and you can use the anime for generations 5 onward. I hope this comment was helpful ^^

It's pronounced Coff-Eh-Gree-Jus, as in the word egregious, meaning horrifying or the like. And it's Bih-Sharp, as in the word bishop, playing off the idea of chess pieces, just as Pawniard is named after the pawn piece. It is Bi-knack-ull, which obviously comes from barnacle. It's Garb-oh-door, combining the words garbage and odor. I also believe it would be pronounced Pawn-Yard, as it would appear that it is a play on the phrase En Guard combined with the word pawn.

I am binging through all these Lockstin and Gnoggin videos while I do some art and I know this video is like, a year old but for pronouncing Alomomola, its name is a combination of "Aloe" and "Mola Mola", which is the Hawaiian name for the Ocean sunfish, so it would be pronounced like "Aloe-mo'-moel-uh"

Hilarious "Eekahns" lol.... when my kids were small, they would say their names backwards... Sharni became "in rahs " and luke was "Ekul" over the years, Sharni's version disappeared, and Luke's changed to "ekuls" .... Considering how late in life I came to Pokemon... any I mispronounce come from guesswork gone wrong.

I always pronounced Arceus as Ar-see-us until I watched his normal type video where he said that Silvally was an attempt to recreate Arceus. I remember thinking "Oh yeah Arceus has his plates so they tried to do that with the RKS system. They really should have called it the RCS system." and thats when I realized i was pronouncing Arceus wrong

If you want to keep the Hydreigon line pronunciation consistant, you should pronounce Deino as “Die-no” since “eins” is one in german and is pronounced as in “Einstien”

Fun fact about Deino, Zweilous and Hydreigon: in German, they are actually called KapUNO, DUOdino and TRIkephalo, so the english names take the German words for one two and three and the German names take the spanish words...I always found that fascinating

Capuccino is pronounced like that because it's italian, and in italian the "cc" sounds like "ch". Funnily, the "ch" in italian sounds like "q".

I have the Pokémon: Deluxe Essential Handbook, and it claims that Raikou is pronounced "RYE-coo." I'm not sure how accurate the essential handbook is, but if it's showing the correct pronunciation, then you've been calling it the right thing.

Like the times people say Raikou as (Rai-kuu) instead of saying (Rai-koh) because it is a reference to the God of thunder and lightning, even Minamoto no Raikou. I always call it as Rai-Koh because the name sounded Japanese than English. Same with Entei and Suicune. But wow, you guys are amazing to come across to bring this video to share our times when it comes to pronunciation of each Pokemon.

Sui (すい), as in Suicune, has to do with the Japanese word for water. Though the noun for water is mizu (みず), すい is used when combining water into a phrase. For example, suiryoku (水力) or hydropower. When joined with youbi (ようび), the word for day of the week, it makes Suiyoubi (水曜日). This literally translates to water day, but means Wednesday.

Note on Mienfoo and Mienshao, I can let “mine” go because yeah, they seem to be ermines/weasel relatives, but I’m really not sure where the pronunciation of “shao” as more of a “chao” is coming from. Those are very different sounds in either Chinese or English. =P I just assumed it was “shao” like the first part of “Shaolin” (some times written as “Xiaolin”). The flowing sleeves bit is atypical of pop culture depictions of Shaolin, but considering the fact that Shaolin Kung Fu is a well-known branch.....

I pronounce Delibird like "delivered" but replacing the V with a B. Everyone else I've heard say it pronounces it like Deli + Bird (DEL-ee-burd). I've never heard it said by any official source, but since it's a delivery bird, I've stuck with my way of saying it. There's also some human characters in Pokemon whose names are debatable, like Cilan, which I'm pretty sure was meant to be si-LON (sounds like "salon") because it comes from cilantro, but in the anime it's officially SY-lun ("silent" minus the T).
