How Well Bolt Throwers Fare against Greenskin Monsters in Total War: Warhammer 3?

The Bolt Throwers were reworked somewhat in patch 5.1. Let's see how they fare against Greenskin monsters.
Units: 1 x Bolt Throwers vs. 1 x Greenskin Monsters
Terrain: Crossroads
Control: Player control for both armies
Tactics: NOT allowed, abilities can be used

Tbh the bolt throwers are busted in arty vs arty fights now so at least they have a clear point. But they were also close to breaking the trolls alone, so with minimal help of a frontline it would be worth it to use them vs early large units. Too bad they are usually unlocked past that point.

New Dwarf artillery building is tier 2 so you can get Bolt throwers and grudge throwers pretty quick.

Thanks for the comment. Agreed, they did surprisingly well. Furthermore, vs slower units they clearly have their uses :)

Well. It's an improvement. Maybe if they were Elves they could hit more often. Oh well. That said, I wonder how other (Dwarf) arty would perform in comparison.

We already know they are great vs other artillery but i wonder if with the changes makes them a perfect artillery vs calvary types since they might be able to kill a model every shot on most cav.

Thanks for the comment. I think some comparison test is coming with other dwarven artillery. Let's put one test vs cav as well :)

balista models are indestructible?? unlike the other arty models? just wonder, since both Giant and Idol hit a single model several times and either model don't haven "crushed " variant, or is perfectly ok.

You forgot the wyvern the greenskins now get. I wanted to go dragon whaling with harpoons. 😸

@@QualityGames-ql1jc no, 😅 I ment your dwarf bolt thrower test here. It would have been nice to see it shoot at the greenskins dragon unit they now have. 😆 but no worries. Hmm. Maybe test how much damage the bolt thrower does to grail knights in a 1v1. Also the bolt thrower VS other dragon types. Like kisliv dragon, Cathay dragon. Lizardmen Quotle sky snake, greenskins dragon. And other types, maybe a bugmen unit to go with the bolt thrower. Because they want to go whaling. But it’s not whales they are hunting. But dragons.

Hello! I understand that this fight will not make much sense, and the result will be obvious, but how do you view the fight between Theodore Bruckner (demigriff) and Tamurkhan (no mount)? I understand that Tamurkhan will undoubtedly win, but I’m just wondering how much HP he will lose, but you only do it if you want it yourself, since there won’t be much intrigue as a result.

Tbh most artilerry pieces would fail to kill a monster unit above their pay grade before it gets to them, while charging in a straight line, no obstacles. With the buffs and a proper frontline they should would work ok, still just a stopgap measure for dwarfs.

So they’re still garbage? Because wasting that money and slot on something that can barely take a few models off trolls and then doesn’t do anything after the melee clash doesn’t seem like a good deal

Thanks for the comment. Agreed with these parameters. At the same time, with some infantry to support, they seem to make rather decent damage :)

TBF, Artillery is meant to have some infantry support so it can do its job without getting swarmed. Just give them a unit of Dwarf Warriors in front then they could do their job well enough

@@bigbadbob7070 Agreed on that. Their dmg output was rather good in this test imo :)
