Another interesting thing the US could do is loan Ukraine a few Centurion C-RAM units to guard Kiev or airfields where F 16's are based. It shouldn't be that hard to model since the C-RAM is just the land based model of the Phalanx CIWS.

one thing to note is that human operators are trained to discriminate air breathing targets from ballistic missiles and can efficiently target cruise missiles, also PAC-2s will not fire at ballistic missiles unless they were out of pac3's first, theyre more meant for air breathing targets like cruise missiles and planes
@@lullollal7792 go look up the max speed of all ballistic missiles, then come back. Its not maneuverable at HS speeds. It boils down to semantics, probably, but using the logic that a ballistic missile hitting hypersonic speeds make it a hypersonic missile system is incorrect or all ballistic missiles can be called hypersonic missiles

Speaking of Israel, we're getting real world test of the f-35s against s300 and the Chinese radar system. F-35 from Israel were able to fly directly into Iran to take out a guy and then leave. They didn't even know until the explosion.
Do you have any references for this? There isn't a "direct" way in to Iran. And Israel already has to deal with the S-300 in Syria. But, Russia turns something of a blind eye to Israeli operations. For now.

@@johnwycough1955 An F-35 would have extreme difficulty getting anywhere near Tehran. Firstly, Syria or Jordan would have to know about it, and there would be aerial refuelling over hostile territory. The F-35 would be a very notable sight over Iranian skies.
IRNA says it was an airborne projectile that hit his room. Task & Purpose had a vid on it. Suggested refueling while in Israel airspace is what I got out of it. And if it happened that way with Tyrone using the s300 and some of the new Chinese radar, it means the f-35 was built for what these other countries say they can do. They say they can do it we end up doing it. Just my thoughts
Don't think people like that will be interested in basic modelling of SAMs in DCS, while full fidelity aircrafts are amazing in DCS, other assets are not.
@longforgotten4823 Care to explain that? The gepard was designed to shoot down fast moving aircraft. It would have no chance against the munitions doing 2000 kts. The low flying Kh 101 cruise missiles would be obliterated. Radar guided 35mm high explosive rounds at 550 rounds per minute each gun. My entire point wS simply there would be more protection. The patriots are absolutely critical to Ukraines defense. They protecting them very very heavily.

Next time could you test how far can the ADS be away from the target to offer sufficient protection? Example, can a PAC-2 Patriot system 40 miles to the East intercept any of those incoming missiles, then test 50/60 miles etc to see what is actually the effective range of protection a Patriot / Air defense system offer against Cruise Missiles/Drones/Ballistic Missiles. etc

They already got rid of it, it's been a few months, those are retired early Patriot launchers and radars, US is negotiating to buy those and get it in working condition before transferring to Ukraine, Israel got enough launchers and radars for their needs, what they need is missiles, that's the bottle neck, Ukraine on the other hand need both.

Here is a question can you look at the Active Flow Flight Controls and thrust vectoring? Apparently in my city they will be doing wing tunnel test on NASA/DARPA X-65. It is being introduce as part of new jet engine for NGAD and FAxx. A jet engine can produce enough pressurize dense air to change air flow. Apparently this is a continuation of F/A 18 vortex generator research in reducing drag. I thought Sea Harrier had similar research which produce their water cooling system. I can see how we can simulate. The thing that gets me is it removes electro-hydraulic actuators making jets lighter. Apparently, youtube videos says you british guy invented this BAE systems... Judging by the 100% hit rate on the control group, and the destruction of several non-military structures, I'd say the sim is giving the Russian weapons unrealistic win percentage. We know from currently available data that the RU weapons have really poor guidance IRL
Not according to the daily video uploads from the Russian MOD. These missiles strike their targets dead on, unless they’re using the cluster munition variant, as it doesn’t carry very many bomblets, and the spread is too great for them to be effective.
@Idontwantahandle6669 You may be right, or I may be right. I don't think either side is reporting accurate civilian casualties or complete reports on damage to non-military infrastructure. I don't think either of us have truly trusted sources. We know there are several instances in Ukraine, but we in the West don't get trustworthy info about inside Russian Federation damages or Russian-occupied Ukraine damages. Neither of us is likely to ever know the actual truth.
DCS needs to add a slider to deteriorate assets that reflect their current state. For example the carrier Kuznetsov would be a rusted out hulk with sewer gas making it difficult to live on, as it is right now. 60% of Islander missiles fired in Ukraine failed to reach its target. They fell out of the sky. The US was given the wreckage and the conclusion is that they’re poorly constructed, containing faulty parts and materials with severe design flaws. That is the truth about Russian hardware. Mostly junk
Problem is real life SAMs dont have 100% pk hence 2-3 interceptors per target is normal nor do every missile work 100% there are failures, the russian missile barrage are accompanied by drones in dozens, there are now decoy drones called gerbera that fly with the shaheds, these are ecm variants or ones with basic camera and gear to send videos of SAM sites, many of the missiles are targetted at the SAM sites too(especially Iskanders) and anti radiation missiles like Kh 31A/P or others are also fired with the missile barrages. Also russian missiles launch IR and other decoys too. Hence Ukraine is basically out or nearly there with S-300 and Buks they inherited from USSR, they had hundred of systems and thousands of missiles; therefore NATO has sent their own stocks of Patriots, SAM-T, IRIS-Ts and NASAMs (the best they have) and have shifted all new production missiles to Ukraine at the cost of own forces and exports to countries who have paid for them. Also they are sending HAWKs and integrating Sea Sparrows to Buk TELARs to engage easier targets like Shaheds and older cruise missiles so that the highly expensive Patriots and Asters for Iskanders and other high end missiles
If the systems are so redundant that Israel doesn't need them why wouldn't they donate them to the Ukraine themselves rather than sell them to a country that would donate them to the Ukraine. God knows the US has propped up Israel militarily and financially virtually since day one.

The maximum range of the US Patriot system is 65 miles. The distance between Kiev and Boryspil, which was one of the targets hit, is 24 miles, well within the effective range of the US system. The distance between Kiev and Orbukhov, which was another target that was hit, is 30 miles, again, well within the effective range of the US system. If the AFU have destroyed as many enemy ADS components as you claim, wouldn't there would be serious gaps in AFRF air defense coverage that the AFU would be exploiting, and would never stop talking about? Also, how are the AFRF still downing AFU drones and missiles if there are major gaps in their coverage caused by their losses? Even if Russia has lost that many S-400 components, which I seriously doubt they have, they can easily replace them and produce more of them. Ukraine can't produce anything at this point, and is totally dependent on foreign aid. Way to win.
@@smokeyjoe1034 first, Patriot effectiveness range, like all SAM systems, is based upon target profile. 65 miles is for aircraft. Effectiveness range against ballistic missiles would be much less. Secondly, the VKS can fly over Eastern Ukraine because there is no Patriot there. The first two Patriots were based in Kyiv and Odessa. The S-400 losses are not claims. They are verified, photographed/videoed losses. Secondly, no. Russia has plenty more S-400 systems in inventory. Lastly, Russian air defenses down far fewer Ukrainian missiles than Patriot downs Russian missiles. In fact, Russia’s S-400 losses are due to Ukrainian ATACMs and Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG. Russian air defense has had a very poor war.
PAC-3 is ridiculously overmodeled here. Ukraine itself has admitted it was unable to intercept Kh-22s well after Patriots arrived, which are way less advanced than Iskander-Ms. We've seen Patriots fire all 24 of their missiles to stop Iskander attacks of ~6 missiles and fail. We've also seen Patriot be ineffective in the Middle East, such as when Iraqi militias struck the Al Asad airbase in Iraq earlier this year or Houthi drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia and the UAE. PAC-3 had like a 95% kill rate against Iskander-Ms here. Realistically, 50% would be generous.
Patriot might be overmodelled, but Kh-22 is no indication of that. For the longest time, Patriot just protected Kyiv and surroundings against ballistic missiles. The Russians knew that very well. If you go through the list of known Kh-22 hits, they were all well outside the perimeter of Kyiv.
