Does life in Russia after sanctions mean no more Western brands? I went to a typical Moscow mall and found many western products still available.

It's not greed. Look I get they want to put sanctions on Russia to look good for the American market. But nobody cares. Mostly because the US was the cause of the war. It's all hypocrisy. Also I mean wanting a country to suffer and removing jobs from it's people just because the government is pretty stupid. Because they would lose all loyalty from said market after the war ends.

As a Russian person living in Moscow, I must say that almost nothing has changed. Luxury brands that declared their withdrawal are still supplying their clothing and accessories into department stores and outlets. Well, they don’t supply parfumés and makeup, but that can be easily ordered through nearby countries. Indetex group is now working on reopening their stores ( they just do a rebranding, changing names of the stores 😂) The situation with cars is a bit more complicated, however if you want, you will buy a brand-new Mercedes in a partner dealership store.

Russia might have claimed the physical properties of the leaving brands but not its major research capabilities as they were not stationed in Russia. The West lost nothing to Russia as we can just manufacture our stuff in other low wage countries, while keeping our research centers close at hand. Which major brands and products other then oil/gas has Russia developed which the rest of the world uses every day of their lives? Russia has a long way to go still to get relevant and feeling is what pains them in the end. Copycat a product is one thing. Develop a new one is something completely different. Ask China where they get their chip manufacturing equipment from.

"So Coca-Cola managed to leave Russia and stay in Russia at the same time" Coke really said, *"I'm playing both sides, so that I always come out on top."* It's truly a big, missed opportunity for Stars Coffee to choose Stars Coffee as the name instead of *TSARBUCKS* Coffee. Like, hello? Tsarbucks was RIGHT there! It's more fitting for Russia, after all. Also, it's irony that potatoes for fries had to be imported to Russia, considering that Russia is famous for growing potatoes. And the thing about Coca-Cola HBC is they're originally a Greek company (H in HBC means Hellenic), and the reason they moved from Greece to Switzerland in the first place was because of the Greek economy, but by leaving Greece, they made the Greek economy worse (as they made up a fifth of the Athens stock market).

January 2021 with a Democrat in office the US started harming and stopping their own energy independence and ability to do oil exports, strange, Biden also started strategic fighting in the Middle East and going back to the use of their oil. No one seemed to notice. Why? His party is now giving around 20 billion to Ukraine and their very attractive ex-actor President and everything is back to Obama’s cold wars and high body count. Why? A pipeline between Russia and Germany spills oil into the water after being damaged. So much for going green. Yet, none of the three main countries involved have citizens allowed to freely speak or anything real on the regular news stations. Why? I don’t know much, but I know we were at peace before this. Well, not under Obama, we are like Obama runs things again after years of peace. Why? Probably best not to answer the rhetorical questions. At least in Russia the people know they don’t really know what’s going on and why. In America people have more options to know more about what’s going on, but they choose not to know and even mock those who want to talk beyond the pushed narratives when there is true freedom to speak. But forget what I’m saying that’s all hyperfocus on “Star Coffee” and not American news claiming Russia is going after who they consider Russians or Russia’s initial concerns with Democrat broken treaties by America in Ukraine. 🤷‍♀️ Personally I’m a pacifist, but a whole lot of people seemed baited into taking sides, do they really understand what they’re taking sides about? Do they know what’s real? Do they know what isn’t? Facts are not even who did what, just like how Ms get crossed out there is a whole lot of that type of thing going on. The only one that knows the full truth is God. Pray and ask him to put you on his side. Don’t assume you know what that is based on eyes that can be decided. Only God can clearly speak without self-promoting compromise or hidden agendas. Trust him and pray for the innocent not to be harmed, don’t cast spells like a witch praying your will be done, pray God’s will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Considering that the store clerk said the Apple products aren’t made for the Russian market, this sounds like a gray import from a neighboring country to me. This would also explain the insane prices. The situation with Adidas looked similar to me. And if a company sells its Russian presence to a Chinese company, I’m not sure if that Chinese company really acts as a middleman as opposed to just getting the products directly at the source and selling as essentially unlicensed copies. So, some of these examples don’t look that clear-cut to me.
@AshGonEntertainment
@AshGonEntertainment Год назад
I think the ultimate conclusion is that no brand is really completely pulling out from Russia. If they truly pulled out, it might look more like the brands would refuse to sell anything to Russia. But if they tear the store down but still find a way to supply to newly renamed stores, the profit loss is minimal. So probably in the mind of American consumers they might think that brands are really pulling out but most have found a loophole to continue staying and selling their products. Some of it may be speculative but it’s true, companies don’t like to lose money so I wouldn’t be surprised if the newly renamed stores were just a different branch of the company.
@deryas630

Who in their right mind would give away a market, an entire market, to someone else because of some "silly war" when they can, for a while, divert a part of the profit from that market to a middleman, under a time-limited confidential contract which no-one will ever see. When the war eventually finishes and all the countries like Russia again, and that will happen sooner or later, they will switch names again and go back to trading under the old original brand.
@Halbmond
@Halbmond Год назад
@@milobar100 Most of these companies produce in China, and many already have the problem of Chinese factories just continuing production after work hours and selling unlicensed but identical copies. Why in the world would a Chinese company agree to a deal that gives them a small cut when they could just go to the factories, get the products at the source, and sell directly to Russians? I don’t care about the Western angle; I don’t see how this would make sense for the Chinese counterpart.

Somewhere around the 8 minute mark you hit the nail on the head. The companies sold their name to Chinese brands in order to change the names and then still gain revenue. Making a decision to cut off an entire store is a large financial mistake, so to hide it all they loan it out and pull it back when all of the stuff is over. I always feel bad for the workers, though, who have to answer political questions though.
@leonro
@leonro Год назад
I would also assume that rather than selling the brand, they're just renting the brand rights to Chinese or local businessmen and will go back immediately once the air clears. As far as I can see, at least some of the brands did a legit pull out (McDonald's, Starbucks, Uniqlo).

They're modifying components from appliances in an attempts to substitute circuits that were provided by the West. You want to make a point, do it with the right stuff. Unfortunately, not any. The goods of high-tech industries are more difficult to replace... Something is purchased through third countries (and here China and Iran are often seriously inferior to analogues, although not always), they are trying to restore something from the Soviet heritage, but all this takes time and money... In general, the West has settled down well, having adopted licensing and patent law, often without even having grounds for this. Theft and blackmail - the way they are.

Interestingly some luxury brands have really left the country. For example, Louis Vuitton closed their office and relocated all their employees to other countries. Same with Hermès. Chanel stores are closed too, not sure about the office though, but on some stores they even took off the signs. But not all of them, some luxury brands never closed and never commented on the situation and just continue to operate.

Thanx for the video! I've always thought that the company's move to close and lay off was a gigantic propaganda error. Even worse were the exclusions of Russian athletes from the events. @RealReporter

Like for mentioning the Russian athletes. They had nothing to do with this war
@leonro
@leonro Год назад
I disagree about the exclusion of Russian athletes from international competitions if they represent their country of origin. While unfortunate for them, you still need to show a message about how war is drifting apart the nations. At the same time, plenty of competitions allow for Russian participation as long as the flag isn't shown. A lot of the time sports competitions are also regarded as competition between countries, even if it's realistically just a game of statistics at the top level. Also, there's been plenty of scandals prior, especially something like the Russian team doping en masse for the Sochi winter Olympics. Doping rules can be somewhat hypocritical though, considering that it's the name of the game in virtually any sport. You can't be top tier without juicing something. The point though is that there's plenty of international tension regarding these athletic competitions, which will invariably bring substantial changes due to major events like the Russian invasion of Ukraine. There's no wrong answer to this, and at the same time no right answer. Nobody gets what they "deserve" in life, so I don't see why athletes specifically need to get a chance to prove their hard work.
@daydreamer1159

@@leonrothen why aren't USA athletes excluded from sport events? USA invaded third of this planet and messed up so many countries and caused so many deaths, why aren't there no sanctions for USA?
