Leach understates the position WSU was in which is the story that I think Rich is angling at. The QB who had the starting job before committed suicide. It devastated the program, the athletic department, the university, the whole city. Pullman is not a big place and things like this hit HARD there. It feels like losing your own family member when stuff like that happens. This was the situation Minshew walked into. Leach leaves a whole lot unsaid here about how Minshew changed the tone of that season. Likely out of respect for Tyler Hilinski. Leach was a classy guy.
