My tips, 1) maintain your car by the severe driving condition interval 2) coast instead of braking 3) dont drive over 55mph 4) use a top tier gasoline fuel 5)lighten your car by taking out all unnecessary things 6) check tire pressure every week or if temperature is fluctuating a lot. 7)look down the road and anticipate stop lights and people merging. Coast to let people merge in front instead of speeding up. 8)use a low rolling resistant tire. 9) accelerated steadily but not slow or fast. Accelerating slow keepa you in a lower gear longer which actually uses more gas than your final gear. Accelerating fast means you are injecting more fuel and most of the time this causes you to have to use your brakes more because lights tend to be on timers. My car is rated 18city and 25 highway and i regularly get 23mpg and im 85% city driving. When i drive on a highway i usually get about 33+mpg so there is that.

Premium fuel is just a rip off. There's virtually no difference from regular. Try driving 55 in a 70mph highway, not safe or pleasant.

Accelerating slow can also cost you to set at more red lights so you burn gas while setting there

If you have to break you’ve made a mistake. I have a inline four cylinder ford ranger, and regularly haul over 4000 pound loads with it. If you drive an f150 or any truck with a V6/V8 and you’re not hauling boulders up a mountain in Super Bowl commercials for a living it means you don’t like keeping the money you earn

I'm glad that you mentioned driving habits! I used to drive a muscle car and have owned many sports cars, but the moment I purchased a hybrid vehicle......I was always playing the "mpg game." Always trying to max out the best mileage I could! And even in the manual of a hybrid vehicle, they explain to you about timing you're driving for traffic lights or merging onto interstates. These two things alone made my miles per gallon change on every vehicle I ever drove. All of a sudden I felt like I had gained maturity as an adult lol! But yes, there is absolutely no reason to get to 45 mph just to slam on the brakes at a red light. You could probably go 30 knowing the red light is ahead of you, or even 25 and when you get to the light it's already green. So you never had to go from zero to 25 and that saved you a tremendous amount of gas. You're just continuing on from 25 back to 45. Not rushing on to the interstate and realizing that you do have a merge lane where you can gain the momentum needed over time, definitely adds to much better gas mileage because you're trying to get from a very low speed to 70 miles an hour quickly.

12:25 Though completely agree with you on this and the concept of looking out of the box, however, as a person who goes up and down the mountains, often, let me remind everyone to PLEASE turn off your AC when climbing the mountain, especially on that stretch of road when very "Steep Grade" is encountered. The merit of comfort vs stress on the engine due to AC was only described on an almost leveled Hwy. not mountains. I frequently see Blown out engines or cars with smoking engines on the side of the road, especially on the warmer summer days than wonder why people not paying attention to common sense. One additional advice here is time your journey and expect to hit the mountain either very early in the day or later PM and avoid mid day burning hot weather. The funniest thing, sometimes in upper altitudes, where the temperature is much cooler than down the mountain (when driver judged the temp and ran the AC at low settings), even outside valuable, smog free, fresh air temperature, at times cooler than what you set on car's temperature regulator!!! So why to put the engine on that much extra stress, when not needed.

9:19 Man I'm so impressed by your great content. My GMC Denali XL's problem was this (Partially sticking caliper) and thankfully it was pointed out to me by my good honest mech when changing the pads (And through experience I know he is not trying to rip me off for more). But he noted that by the fact that Pads were not responding to his clamping while replacing and he showed it to me. What you described so well here (Temp. check by IR gun) is the objective way, we all should be able to diagnose this hidden, relatively unknown problem, much earlier. Seriously I enjoy your clips and way to go my friend.

I very much agree with the timing the lights/stop signs point. And yes, it is very annoying when riding shotgun and someone is not paying attention to their speed and timing. Driving a manual helps as you can stay in the same gear and modulate the accelerator. Automatics are so bad for building good driving habits.

Give Lucus fuel injector a try. Keeping up with normal day to day maintenance, like this mechanic talks about, is basic 101 level info to attempt to keep your vehicle as efficient as it can be, almost as good when it was new. Given that you keep your car at this well maintained base line, I have tried many snake oils, too. You name it I have probably tried it. To make a long story short, nothing increased my mpg, except Lucus injector cleaner. My well used 165000 mi 2007 Toyota Camry gets a mpg boost of at least 5 mpg when I use 10 oz of Lucus with 17 gal of gas. The oil in the gas must seal the valves and pistons to get a better mpg, but yet I don't know why I'm getting better mpg with a concentration that is above what the label says. Normal 10 oz Lucus treats 50 gal. I'm, as I said, using 10 oz for 17 gal with measurable results of an increase of 5 or more mpg. Don't believe me, see if it works for your car. And no I don't own stock in Lucus. LOL

There was almost no grease on the pins when I took the caliper apart. Greased the pins up & installed new pads. Bled brake fluid to get the probably overheated fluid out of the caliper chamber. Gained a hair over 1 mpg combined mileage.

@gregorykusiak5424
@gregorykusiak5424 3 года назад
Tire pressures, brake drag and wheel alignment are good tips, but you totally overlooked wheel hubs/bearings. If they’re worn or not lubricated, you’ll burn more gas too. All of these little things can add up to saving money at the pumps. And that’s the biggest point to make. Even 2-3% improvement from staying on top of each these maintenance tips can really add up to fewer stops to fill up, meaning more money in your pocket.

I drive a manual car. I try to shift at 2k rpm in gears 3-6. 1-2 is kinda juttery when engaging at low rpm, it takes extra throttle to balance out. I drive the speed limit and try driving in the highest gear I can. I notice my instant fuel econ reads 99.9 when I’m doing the speed limit on roads. Over the past 2k miles, my avg econ has been 25.4 MPG. Use cruise control, drive in high gears and drive the speed limit for the best fuel economy.

4 stages of matter: Solid Liquid Vapor Plasma A vapor is a gas, a fume is not. A fume is solid particulate matter suspended in air resulting from welding. There are no fumes in automotive gas tanks, fuel or exhaust, only gases/vapors. It is a very common misconception perpetuated by both commercial advertising and the entertainment industry. I like your video, you are doing a great service to help others improve or maintain their engine's highest efficiency.
