How Your Childhood (Still) Affects Your Money (And Why You Should Care):
Our finances are shaped by our behaviors and our choices. But our behaviors and choices are strongly influenced by the lessons we've learned in the past and how we see the world. And those qualities are developed in childhood. Today we examine how our financial past influences our financial present and future.

I grew up in a secure money environment in an upper-middle-class family, but I'm also such an anxious person that as soon as I understood the the basics about finance, I grew to be extremely anxious about money.

Fascinating concepts! I grew up in a household where money was tight, never talked about and tension typically followed any conversation around it. I used to give my mom money to help with bills since around highschool. I had to learn everything I know about money on my own and it has completely changed my life. I still have some anxiety around money but am now in the Secure Classroom. You don't have to stay in the classroom you grew up in!

I started working at a restaurant at 19. I got badly injured at my job six months in. I'm now 22 finally almost done recovering from my back surgery. Today I received my 56k settlement. Thanks to your help I found ways to manage my money instead of spending it all. Thank you. You changed my entire life.

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. That's really tough. But I'm glad to hear that you managed to make the most of it. That takes a lot of strength of character!

I grew up in a "secure" money environment. I was taught and still remember my dad saying that you have to fend for yourself and that no one, no company and no government is coming to save you. I grew up with everything as a kid...but as a kid, you always want more lol As an adult, I'm financially free, have 0 debt period and own a business. But, I know there won't be any kind of social security and governments will continue to punish savers with inflation. I always have those thoughts in mind

Insightful and helpful video. Financially I'm doing great for my age, but I have started to notice a weird relationship I have towards money. This video gave me insight on what I should look into to better understand my relationship with it, help myself, and even consider asking for help. Thank You.

I was raised in a depression classroom. Looking for emotional stability lead to a hate of money. Both parents work. Grew a healthy hate towards money. Money meant my parents were working and I kept looking for love. I hated the love of money. Now I have someone who loves me, and I now realize how money plays in a family. I try my best to teach our children financial education and it’s importance. The freedom that financial independence will give me, is my driving force. I want to be able to spend more time with loved ones. I want to give them everything I ever wanted…Love

grew up as a kid unstable class, underwent the anxious class during my young adult phase, now trying to learn to be in the secure class. These journey is a must for ones' maturity. I hope i'll hv success in educating my toddler about money, since i just started the in secure class myself and doubtful if im ever gonna be successful. I'm a B40 afterall in my country

I love my family. I’m not a big spender, so when I got my first job, my dad explained to me that we could invest that money in a Roth IRA. I ended up cashing out that money this last year to buy a house.

Yikes, sorry to hear this. With mortgage rates so low Sorry to hear you had to take out your Roth IRA and stop it from growing.

My family didn't teach me how to manage money. But, after my parents divorce, my mom told me, "love doesn't mean anything when it comes to money."
