Lived with OCD since I was a kid …. 15 showers a day, clean my house 900 times…….. Never wanted to take medication ( every doctors wanted to shove anti depressants and always refused )…..weed saved my life at 36, and now 2% has remained ( alcohol wipes on my phone and watch when coming back from outside, clean groceries …… ) but not crippling like it was once. Thank god for my wife that stayed through all the nightmares i put her through.

I stopped listening to howard stern when i matured…he’s funny when you’re a teenager…not so much after you become a father…i’m sure alot of people out there feel the same way.

Howie will be remembered as a decent, beautiful soul. Howard, on the other hand still has some work to do as he grows out of his juvenile, bullying stage.

Good for you Howie!! We all have problems and most people hide them and live in fear of people finding out! You give them hope that they can be truthful and live a better life!!

I suffer from chronic depression. There is no answer and I've tried everything. Ketamine helped but they don't tell you it wears off and right now Insurance doesn't pay for it. I had dreams and my mental illness sucked most of them down the drain. I've been a Soldier and I've never given up but I gotta tell you it's rough. I think the worst part is people don't say "Good going and keep fighting" like they do about other illnesses. I've had good friends leave me because I'm not fun anymore and being around me is a downer. Mental illness is the last frontier. They don't understand it fully and antidepressants don't help everyone. It's shameful and isolating. I love Howie because he's courageous, lovable and truthful. Thanks Howie!❤

Stern acting all "righteous" now is so hypocritical since he humiliated and bullied so many people, including lots of disabled people. IMO, Beetlejuice was the most intelligent and decent person on his show.

I think Howie is even cooler for being honest with others about his mental health. This is so nice and refreshing. I remember that old Howard Stern interview. It was funny at the time because we never heard if this stuff in public. It seemed to be a made up thing.

After reading comments to this video i am very sad about the lack of understanding shown by commenters. I am sure they know someone who has a mental illness so i feel sorry for whoever that is because they have no empathy for a known human condition. You wouldn't' say these mean things about someone who has a heart condition or broken leg. Mental illness is caused a brain disease that people have no control over and need treatment just like a physical disease needs treating.

Howie is a great guy it seems , but I can't help to wonder about all this mental illness stuff. Maybe it's because we have such easy lives . Go back 100 to 200 years . Probably wasn't any of this stuff going on when you have to eek out a living , day by day.

Mandel just earned an even more amount of respect from me when he said to the interviewer, “What are we going to make this interview all about Peni’s?” What a way to nip the immaturity along with her not being respectful at all to the seriousness of the questions in the discussion. That woman lost her confidence in her interviewing skills after that. I knew it too when I noticed her fake cry of empathy towards the end. Too late lady, you already ruined it for me. Mandel carried on with an enormous about of wisdom nonetheless.

True. Since my childhood, I felt like I was going crazy. That this didn't make sense. And then someone said it and what it was, I found out it wasn't just me.

I believe I have OCD ….when I was a child ,maybe not a severe case but I knew taping my foot over each other a certain amounts of times or turning light switch on and off , on the right click, was strange. After a few years, I started to talked my way out of it. The mental and physical feelings are of impending death of a family member . That was my trigger or is. If I didn’t do the ritual , they would die. After a few years as I grew up I began to talk my way out of it. It pops up every now and then but I don’t let it get a foothold . It’s strange…

I suffer from PTSD. I would hate for anyone to provoke it from coming out especially for the sake of entertainment. Mental illness is not something to laugh at or coax. It’s f**king real for that person suffering; and for Stern to do that to anyone is beyond horrible.

Howard had the greatest show back then. Nothing was off limits, no safe zones or safe spaces. Equal opportunity offender, no group was protected - just brutal honesty & humor. That’s why 10-15 million people listened to his show back then. Howard had OCD as well at one point & was probably trying to help Howie by forcing him to deal with it publicly. Seems like it made no difference though because Howie M. still has OCD.

I love Howie. My high school had the funny billboards in our school and Howie was on them. (just a fun memory) I am so happy he is getting the help he needs to feel/be. Howie s 100% correct, (just) Be Nice.

My BOOK opinion - Each person will feel different about Howard and Howie because it's based on "perception" and perception is molded by what kind of personalities we like, what kind of content we like, what our belief system is, what we've experienced and endured or not endured, how we perceive those experiences and trials, how we've overcome, what our moral compass is, how we were raised and by what kind of personalities, how we view many various other aspects. There are certain moral things that all of us in this world are in alignment with and agree together on, such as not doing harm to children, not stealing other peoples belongings, things of that nature but other things are open for different interpertations. So if one person proclaims Howard is a A hole but another likes him, it's based on perception, therefore it's a personal belief/personal truth. One person may of have a direct one on one negative engagement with Howard or Howie, so they'll claim their A holes, it's a personal truth. We can catch a person on a bad day, and we've made up our mind from one encounter they're as a$$. We maybe quite surprized how we're perceived. What we think and perceive of ourselves is not always what others perceive. That's why it's always important we make sure we don't base liking someone off what another says about them. Yes we take it into high consideration if the person telling us this is a trusting person, with good reading skills, and especially if they state said person is abusive, dangerous or manipulative, but when it comes to other things outside of extreme we're to always make sure we do our own due diligence in conducting our own reading, use our critical thinking skills, do our own investigation. There's too many today jumping on the band wagon of deciding to dislike a person because their family or friend does or are following the herd. We must always remember, we could be on the receiving end of that, it done to us. Someone telling others we're not friendly and kind. With having social media, it's so easy to influence masses today to hate someone. If you all like either of those two guys, it's your right, I respect it. If they've inspired you, make you feel happy or helped you overcome something in some way, that is awesome. If you don't like them, same respect applies, it's your right I hope you have someone that lifts your spirits up. There's somebody for everyone. Different strokes for different folks.

I met Howie in 1988 in Vegas. I was 21 and had just been married moments before. I’m embarrassed to share this but I went up to him and asked him for a kiss on the cheek. I had no idea then what he was going through. He declined but I was insisting. Shameful I know. He was so nice and eventually did concede but I felt and still feel terrible, as I should. I wish so much that I could sincerely apologize to him. The irony is that I too now suffer in that way and others now.
