I have the very same edition of Howl as you -- I also have a couple of other Ginsberg collections, including White Shroud, but to be honest I haven't read any of his work in decades, and can't remember it well. I started reading him mainly because of his connection with Burroughs, and was interested to see what his style might be like. Howl was definitely Ginsberg's most famous work, in fact I'm trying to think of anything else of his that might have approached that renown/notoriety. Have you seen his photography? Very interesting also from a historical perspective.

Howl is definitely his most popular book of poetry, and it kind of makes sense considering just how crazy and experimental a poem like Howl probably would've been to read in the 1950s.

How would a poor west Virginia poet go about sending you a manuscript?

I have that same edition of Howl. As far as 10 or 20 page poems go, I like it. Of the three parts, the first part is the best, and in fact, most big anthologies of general poetry (Norton anthologies and books like that) only sample Part 1 of the poem. Part 2 would be fine if not for the "Moloch" part, which drags on forever. I'm fine with a little repitition every now and again, but in this instance, it grates. Part 3 is forgettable: by then, the novelty of the insane writing style has worn off and you kind of wanna just finish it. I like "Super Market" as well. Everything else in it is fairly forgettable, but I've read every poem in it two or three times by now (except Howl, of course -- once was enough) and they're all fairly engaging at least in the moment that I'm reading them.
