Our little one, my youngest daughter, joined our family about a year ago. Someone abandoned her near a bridge when she was just a puppy and with a fractured leg. Amazingly this little one survived out there all alone in an area shared by coyotes, snakes, wild hogs and other creatures. She keeps us busy and we love every moment, she is amazing and we love her very much. She is a blessing.
I know this video has been out for a while now, but I just love listening to him howl! My husband and I have a Catahoula Leopard Dog and just love her to pieces.
:( alas poor kinto is no longer with us. he had lung cancer and went to the rainbow bridge this last monday. best dang companion anyone could ever ask for, this dog was loyal to the core. catahoulas = best breed ever!!!
I lost my blue girl, a beautiful catahoula of 12 years a few weeks ago. I see the easy connection between you and your dog and how you must love him to pieces. This is the only video that kinda reminds me of the connection I had with my Blue girl and I miss her terribly. Your dog reminds me of her. I loved the vid. For some reason, it comforts me :) T
My Catahoula hardly makes a sound. He whines when he is play biting with my Aussie and he bays when strangers come by, otherwise that's about. Silent as a mouse most of the time.

OMG my catahoula did not know what to think of this video. She wasnt sure if there was someone in distress or and where they were hiding. i love this video.
My old dog Sally would howl whenever she heard trumpets. Really any high pitched sound. I noticed once I got her "primed" with a noise and she started howling, then even making that sound at a very low volume would set her off. I dont think she was howling out of pain, but rather was just being triggered to do a perfectly normal dog thing (howling)
Thanks for posting your video. My bluegirl looked a LOT like Kinto and your dog seems to have a calm, loving demeanor like Blue did. I don't have a lot of pictures of her, but she was the love of my life! Just watching Kinto (especially from the side) looks exactly like my Blue Girl. Thank you for your kind words!
I don't think it's because it hurts it's ears. I think that it resembles a howling sound. Howling with the pack can be a bonding experience and Catahoulas are extremely strong dogs (with a big dash of crazy mixed in!!) My catahoula heard the howling from the other end of the house and quickly came and joined in!! :) She's smiling and wagging now. It made LuluBelles morning!!

Aww, how CUTE!!!!????? ^-^ Although, it kinda sounds like you're hurting his ears. Not being mean, but a dog's hearing is 10 times (or less) better than a human's. :) It's cute, though, 5 Stars! :D
Unfortunately, your average person is an attention addict. The harmonica was too high-pitched and out of tune (can cause stress, confusion and discomfort because it can be confused with a STOP! command) and easily exceeded 55 decibels. Did you Notice its ears were close to its head and the tail wasn’t wagging? I showed this to my vet and she shook her head adding that not everyone is meant to own a pet. As a musician, the high frequency and intermittent playing was disturbing to me and I’ve dealt with some of the WORST musicians in my 40 years of playing out for good money and making sure my students would never accept mediocrity and laziness after I was through teaching them. I won’t respond to ignorant and misplaced anger for my comment. I’d be shocked if anyone (except you) on this thread can name three books (or stories) by Hemingway, three symphonies by Brahms or how many bricks does it take to complete a building. (Google must be lighting up) Self-awareness and the lack of originality in people aren’t dead , just mortally wounded. God help us.
that's actually not entirely true. they howl because the consistency of the sound is similar to that of howling in other dogs. lots of research has been done on that!
You should download an audio spectrum analyzer app. I have a Catahoula but I don’t play my instruments near her and if she walks in while I’m recording, the sound doesn’t exceed 55 decibels nor does it produce an awful, high-pitched, out of tune sound. (Headphones) Your dogs ears were close to her head and her tail wasn’t wagging. I’d throw out the harmonica and take your dog for a nice long walk (allow her time to sniff things in her environment) Not being able to function without the validation and attention of easily amused strangers isn’t healthy for you or your dog.
