You lost me at the pwm hook up with the splitter. You lost me starting at 8:24 I'm using all Lian li uni infinity fans I have the splitter your talking about with the 3 connectors. because I have the Lian li uni fans they don't have the 2 connecters you tell us to plug into the splitter... the uni fans only have that one cable coming off that connects to the Lian li controller. So this part makes no sense at all. I've followed every step, everything is done up till that point . You mentioned a Corsair fan? The point of this video is to use icue with lian li fans so why would I have Corsair fans... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh Thank You!!! You have just solved my problem. I was going to buy individual ones to connect each set of fans to the commander but now i don't have to. Just bought 1 on amazon due to be delivered tomorrow for the commander core xt which I also got 2 days ago But I wont connect the PWM signal to the Lian Li controller. I will just connect each set of 3 fans to the commander like i have always done and have them run off the g1/4 coolant temp sensor

@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Месяц назад
Hi darkninjaflex5371, that's a great question. It appears to me that the pump for this AIO makes a PWM connection to your motherboard presumably to feed an rpm signal to the motherboard and the fans can either connect to a PWM header or to the internal controller for lconnect. You could directly connect the fans PWM connector to the commander CORE XT's PWM Hub. However, the individual port on the CORE XT is designed for a single fan, not 3 (or more), not to exceed 1A on the port. It's unlikely to exceed 1A during normal runtime, but startup power draw could exceed this. I do not see a specification on the website or user guide for the fans they are using here to see if they are listing a 'safety power draw', which would indicate what it's startup power draw would be. I have used 3 fans on the CORE XT's PWM port before with no issue, but you could be risking causing damage to it. Since I haven't used this AIO or it's fans and haven't tested I'll have to err on the side of caution and say do this at your own risk. You could use a PWM hub and get the PWM signal from the core XT and power the fans from the hub reducing the risk to the core XT, but this requires that you split one of the ports on the core xt and connect a real fan to one side of the splitter and the PWM signal cable to the other (CORE XT won't enable the port if it doesn't detect a fans rpm signal back)....this adds hardware and sloppiness to a build though so isn't ideal. I wish I had a better answer, but I hope that helps, let me know if you decide to do this (You may have already done it) Thanks for watching!!!

Got my sl120/140 infinity fans today. icue can detect up to 3 fans, daisy chained. so thats plugging the 5v 3 pin to the led 3 pin whatever corsair hub u have with an adapter and choosing all 6 strips in the "rgb led strip" drop down. The pwm 4pin just plug in directly to the 4 pin in commander pro/xt hub. thats guessing u buy the single packs which comes with the 4pin pwm and the 5v 3pin rgb connectors. If u bought the pack, the connector is different and you'll have to use the lian li controller box to connect the fans and pwm.

Thanks alot for the video. Would you help me and tell me how to connect my four lian li fans (came with Lian li lancool iii) to the commader core (not pro!) that came with the AIO H170i elite capellix? Would a 5v 3pin adapter do the job or do I need something else? Thanks in advance
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Wolfgang Knochmann, that's a great question!! Unfortunately the Commander CORE that comes with the H170i does not have the RGB port needed to adapt non-corsair RGB. The "Commander CORE XT" and the "Commander PRO" have this port. But neither of these will work with the H170i. If you don't need any more fans, consider purchasing and adding a "Lighting NODE PRO". This little controller has 2 of the needed RGB ports, then you will need the adapter cable to convert the corsair RGB port to the standard 3 pin ARGB that Lian LI uses on the lancool iii. This video still applies to your setup, you will just need the Lighting node pro, core XT or the commander PRO. It's confusing, and the CORE that you have and the CORE XT are very similar, but different in that the CORE doesn't have the RGB ports. I hope that helps, good luck and have fun!!!

I Have A rose will cooling fan, is it still possible for me to control those through corsair?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Luke Sanchez, I would have to know specifically which rosewill fans you have. However, I'm looking at a couple of RGB fan kits from Rosewill. These fans are using a 6 pin connector, which combines the power and RGB into a single connector. These fans will NOT directly connect to corsair. In many cases, you can connect the fan kit's controller into the corsair icue system using an adapater cable (I have a video on how to do that), The controllers I see with rosewill do not seem to have a RGB sync cable (which is normally used to connect it to the motherboard, but can be used to connect to corsair instead.) So, it appears to me from the 2 kits i looked at, they would not connect to corsair unfortunately and are truly standalone. I would take a look at your fan's connector, if it's a 3 pin DC controlled, or 4 pin PWM controlled fan, icue can power it and control it with PWM. only the Commander PRO can control DC controlled fans. For RGB, non-corsair fans cannot directly connect, but as I mentioned, you can often connect the controller or the fan using standard 3 pin ARGB. Let me know if I can help, great question! Thanks for watching!!!!

If I have A single Lian li fan and want to get it to work in Icue do I just need to get A lighting node pro and A adapter that goes from the Lian li to A corsair one ?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Baeby, great question. If you only have a fan from Lian Li, the adapter cables i've shown would not work, Lian Li uses a different connector....I would need to research a bit to see if an adapter cable is available. Lian Li makes a cable adapter kit that might transform their fan RGB connector to standard 3 pin, then you could adapt it to corsair....to a lighting node pro, which would work. If you have a Lian Li Fan controller, then yes, you can user the adapter cable described and connect the Lian Li controllers motherboard sync cable to a lighting node pro using the adapter and put Lian Li into a motherboard sync mode. If you have a CORE XT, it has a single RGB port on it that could be used as well instead of a lighting node pro. Let me know what hardware you have, I'll look into it to see if there is a specific adapter cable you can get for only a fan, that's a good question... Thanks for watching!!!

HI @_KORYN_, yes, the Lian Li fans have their own controller and software and DO NOT require any corsair controllers or software to work. You can control lighting and fan speed using L-connect from lian li and works ok. This video is a demonstration of how to sync lian li fans to iCUE if you already had lots of corsair devices. @HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Chade Moore, I've see issues like that where a controller caused a PC to not boot. It sounds like you have two controllers and both do the same thing. It's unlikely both are bad, but very remotely possible. I would start with trying another SATA power cable to my power supply and a different port on the power supply. If it still does it, I would start with stripping the system down, remove all peripherals and devices except mb, ram, cpu and see if you get the same results, see if it will power on, try the GPU in and out. If it works, add devices one at a time, seeing what works. If it still doesn't work. I'd suspect maybe the controller is bad, or worse, perhaps they have been damaged by your power supply. Meaning, even if it was the power supply cable having a problem, maybe it's damaged the controllers now. at this point, I might look at replacing my power supply and then testing with a new controller.....I realize that might all be a hassle, but you should be able to plug two lian li controllers in to two seperate sata power connectors with no issues, if that's sparking and causing fires.....i'd go another power supply. I hope that helps give you some direction, good luck and Have Fun!!! It is fun, isn't it? I like troubleshooting, but it can be a hassle at times. Let me know what you find out! Thanks for watching!

@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi TheMavic, in that case, you can still use this technique to sync the Lian Li devices with your Corsair perps....But, that would require you to leave a CORE XT, or Lighting node PRO in your PC to make the connection....You and easily switch the Lian Li software from MB sync (to corsair) back to Lian Li control, which will give you some awesome Lian Li effects on the fans. However, if you want to remove all the Corsair controllers, take a look at signal RGB, it will do a decent job at syncing Lian Li and Corsair devices together without the physical connection. I hope that helps, good luck and have fun!!!

Hi Jason, great question. Yes, you should be able to get all that under iCUE. the 9 lian li fans would all be controllable just as described in this video. The Strimer 24pin and Triple 8 have their own controller which could be synced through a seperate connection, in similar fashion. However, I believe the Strimer Plus cables can be connected to the SL120's controller using an adapter cable from the Lian Li ARGB cable kit. I've not tested this and I don't have that ARGB cable kit currently. I'd have to test this to be sure, but something to look into. Hi BrianWhiting, by mini hubs, do you mean the Lighting node CORE? The lighting node CORE won't be able to accomplish this as it only has ports for the fans. The current corsair controllers that will do this are the Commander CORE XT, the Commander PRO or the lighting node pro. The lighting node pro is a mini device and a great option if you don't need any of the other fan control capabilities. Basically you need the little 3 pin RGB port to adapt it. I may not understand what you mean by mini hub, so if that didn't answer your question, let me know!! Thanks for watching!!!

Will the Lian Li Stimer Plus V2 work with Icue, without having a V1 controller?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 2 года назад
Hi Derwood Duncan, that's a great question! I know that the GPU 8x2 cable comes with an adapter cable to directly plug it into a motherboard ARGB (5v) header. This could be adapted to plug directly into the corsair controller and would work within icue. I've not tested that, but I do have those cables to mess with it. The 24pin cable doesn't come with this adapter cable and I believe it needs the controller....I checked my lian li cable kit, I don't see they make an adapter for the 24pin cable.... However, any of the strimer controllers can be synced to a corsair iCUE setup using the motherboard sync cable. If you have only the GPU 2x8 cable, look for this included adapter. Im not sure that fully answers your question, if not let me know. Thanks for watching!!!

Thanks for the feedback maman89! I'm happy you found this useful. That's a great observation, I will have to go test this with the commander pro and see if it behaves differently, I hadn't thought that it would be any different, but i'll go find out. Would I be able to use one of the commander 4-pin rgb ports if I use a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter or should I invest in a 3-pin to 4-pin converter? I want to try the former but I'm worried it would be death to my lian li fans if I connect them directly to the commander using a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter without converting it.

Hi SuPSnaP, That's a great question! I've had this asked before about converting the corsair RGB 4 pin to 3 pin RGB, the signals are there, but i've never tried it and i'm not aware of any pre-made adapter cables for this. You could make your own as the connectors are available, but i've just never tried. I can't suggest you try it, only because you're right it could cause issues. I have thought about exploring this very subject, perhaps it's time to possibly sacrifice a controller and fan and give it a shot and see what it does. Are you aware of any converter or adapter cables out there? if so, let me know, i'd be interested in putting that on my list of things to mess around with. Thanks for watching!!!

@@HardwareArtisan I actually bought a handful of items this week. I'm going to try a couple approaches. I bought the PWM splitter you introduced in this video. 4 x 3-pin to 4-pin adapter cables. A deepcool argb converter (5v add-rgb to 12v rgb) and a 4-pin extension cable (female-to-female) and a 1-to-3 3-pin rgb splitter. I bought a lot to cover a couple of ideas. A) I'm going to see if by chance the coisair software can pick up and control the lian li hub using the 1-to-3 3-pin splitter either plugging in directly to the coisair hub (via the 3-pin to 4-pin converter) or directly to the Asus motherboards 4-pin or 3-pin ports. I will try your approach second using the converter and directly connecting the lian li's 3 fans into the (5v to 12v) converter then to the coisair hub using the 8 LED series fan in icue. I hope the 5v to 12v converter is omnidirectional. I could've just bought an msi 3-pin water cooler and plugged it into the lian li hub but that would've been too easy and if it's too easy it ain't fun. Jk the corsair software looks really robust so I'd like to not give that up. I can email you my parts list if you'd like. Luckily got it all on Amazon.

My commander core controller doesn't show up as its own device in iCue, so the only way it'll let me set up my lian-li fans is to set them up as fans within my AIO's settings (which means I'm limited to choosing an existing corsair fan and can't set it up as a light strip). Did you do anything special to get the commander core itself to show up?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Michael Kahn, that's a great question, The Commander CORE will show up as your AIO device, not the Commander CORE. However, as an interesting side note, If you connect your CORE without the AIO connected to the 24pin port, it will show up in Icue as a Commander CORE With that said, it behaves the same way in both cases, obviously with the pump connected you gain control over the PUMP speed and PUMP RGB. The Commander CORE does not have a 3 PIN RGB port to adapt non-corsair RGB to it as I did in this Video. The commander CORE isn't really suited for non-corsair RGB.... It only has the 4 pin RGB ports more for Corsair FANS......I'm not aware of an adapter cable for the 4 pin corsair fan port to 3 pin ARGB....if you have one, let me know where you got it, it probably does exist and that would be something to look at for sure. Because of that, if you manually set up the port here, it will only show FANS as an options. This video would apply to a Commander CORE XT (which is different than the commander core), the CORE XT has the 3 pin RGB port used in this video. A commander pro has the 3 pin port as well as the Lighting node PRO The CORE XT doesn't have the 24 pin AIO port, though.....so, one possible solution would be for you to go get a "Lighting NODE PRO", this is a small controller that has 2 of these 3 pin ports, to which you could adapt the Lian Li controller or other non-corsair RGB to. You would also need the adapater cable. You can find that controller here as well as amazon or newegg (ebay probably has just the controller) www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-%7C-Parts/iCUE-CONTROLLERS/iCUE-Lighting-Node-PRO-RGB-Lighting-Controller/p/CL-9011109-WW This kit includes some LED strips, this controller also comes with the LL120 fan kits if you need fans. That's a long winded explanation, I hope that helps, let me know if not. Thanks for watching!!!

@@HardwareArtisan Thank you!! Been staring at this Commander Core and going where's the RGB thingy ma bob? I bought the AIO with the standard core and never noticed it did not have the rgb port. I am SO GLAD I began to read the comments. I have everything wired, and low and behold I needed another USB device installed cause I had to install one of the 10 or so nodes I had laying around I never use cause I always use a core XT or Pro & multitudes of lighting strips, lol!! I wanted to install 6 lighting node strips, which I have and now I have a node with a single RGB port empty and ready to use already installed. I just have to install SL's, wire and connect to Lian Li controller, "mount it" then, connect usb, connect sata and wire and connect to lighting node pro via using the EZ DIY - Fab cable you suggest. Install L-connect, sync, and setup via ICUE via my lighting node modual.? *crossing fingers*

I have 3 sets of 3 lian li al 120 fans + a single fan connected to the hub. I have the rgb header connected to a lighting node pro, which is connected to a commander pro. When I change the lighting settings in icue, nothing happens. I also do not have a corsair fan to use with the splitter to use the pwm, how do I go about that?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 2 года назад
Hi Fizz, those are great questions! I'm assuming from the Lian Li controller/hub you have the RGB motherboard sync cable (the rgb header you referred to) connected to the Corsair adapter cable, which is then connected to the lighting node pro. That should work fine and i'm assuming you have the lighting node pro connected to the commander pro's USB Ports, which should work well. in iCUE you should see the Commander Pro and the Lighting node PRO. You want to select your lighting node pro and goto lighting setup and choose whatever channel you plugged in the Lian LI sync cables to. From there, I'd recommend selecting the "RGB LED STRIP" and select 6 of them (this should enable all the LED's for your fans). Then, go into the lian li "lconnect" software and enable the motherboard sync mode. Then, go back to iCUE and goto your lighting node pro, and select "Lighting Channel 1 (or 2)" and add a lighting effect, this should light them all up, if not, double check everything and ensure lconnect is in a motherboard sync mode. If you have any other RGB controller software installed, such as signal RGB, openRGB, mobo control, etc....shut them down, they can interfere with this. Since you don't have a corsair fan to connect to the splitter, just use one of the Lian li fans itself, unplug the PWM connector from the lian li controller and plug it into the splitter on the corsair controller along with the PWM sync cable, this will allow the corsair controller to see a fan and then send the same speed signal down to that set of fans and to the controller. It's a little bit tedious, but it works and after you get it dialed in, it makes total sense how it comes together. Good luck, let me know if I can help!!! Thanks for watching!!!

@@HardwareArtisan Since I do not have a pwm splitter cable and I wasn't really bothered to get one, I just connected the pwm cable of each fan cluster to a slot on the commander pro and got that working correctly. For the RGB though, I did as you said but nothing lights up. I have the hub's argb cable connected to my lighting node pro through an adapter like you said, I also have lian li's l-connect 3 software installed and have set the motherboard lighting sync switch on. In iCUE, I have set lighting node pro channel 1 (the channel I have it connected to) to 6 LED strips. When I go to change the color of them, my fans do not change color. I do not have any other RGB softwares installed besides iCUE and lian li l-connect 3

@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi Gabe Louis, Yes, you should be able to get RGB control with iCUE on the Galahad AIO 360. I haven't used that AIO, but a quick glance at the manual shows it has a motherboard sync cable, (for connecting to a motherboard header).....You would use this cable and instead of connecting to your motherboard, connect it to the RGB port on the corsair controller using the corsair 3 pin adapter cable. Put Lian Li Lconnect into a "Motherboard" sync mode and you can then configure icue. You will have to experiment with what Corsair model to use that most closely matches the lian li's number of LED's, just experiment around. Good Luck, Have Fun, that should look cool!! Is there any way to get the PWM control to work without having a random fan connected to the Commander Pro? Im trying to maintain an aesthetic here and 1 random fan just for the rpm signal is not going to work for me, not to mention if that "signal" fan fails, you lose every fan in the system.
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Год назад
Hi A Helgeson, great question! I've seen this issue with the CORE XT, in order to get it to send a PWM signal, it needs to see a fan on that port. I'm not sure the Commander PRO has the same issue, but sounds like you're saying it does, i'll have to check that out. I'm not aware of a way to get the CORE XT to send the PWM signal unless it senses a fan on the port, my solution was to use a splitter cable....one side going to your fan, the other feeding a PWM signal to another controller, Lian Li for example. It does, unfortunately add that cable to your mix.....I'm going to revisit this because I'm curious if there is a any other way to do it, obviously corsair isn't wanting you to do this, but corsair does make a fan PWM hub, so why would it not work.....now I'm curious, haha. If you find a way, let me know, currently with how i've tested it, I had to use the splitter. Thanks for watching!

Hi Roberto Azocar, the Lian Li fans do not directly connect to the Corsair controller. You still need to connect the fans to a lian li controller. You then use the adapter cable to connect an RGB port on corsair to send the RGB signal to the Lian Li Controller (put the lian li controller into motherboard sync mode). You can then sync them all together. Good Luck and Have fun! Thanks for watching!

Hi! What if one wanted to use just lian li fans? Is there a way to get pwm control with icue?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 2 года назад
Hi John Jeremiah Sekar, great question. If all you have are the Lian Li fans, you would have to connect them directly to the Corsair Controller, this will work fine. I currently have a PC running with a set of 3 AL120 fans connected together, the single PWM cable is directly to the CORE XT and i have full control over it. This is acceptable if you are ok with losing the ability to control the Power/speed from the L-Connect software because you would bypass the controller for pwm obviously. RGB would still be controllable by both. I've not fully tested large amounts of Lian Li fans connected to the CORE XT, for example if you had 16 fans in 4 groups of 4, I would double check the power requirements of that. I've not found a specification for the CORE XT from corsair, but I expect it's similar to the PRO, which is: Max. power per fan header (combined) 1A per port (4.5A combined). AL120 FAN SPEC is : 0.22A(FAN) Just be aware, I haven't tested anything really beyond 3 fans, I expect it to work, but add large amounts of fans at your own risk. You could of course add one set to Corsair with the splitter and the remainder back on the lian li controller and gain control over all of them and not wory about power. I hope that helps, thanks for taking time to post a great question. Thanks for watching!
