Well I'll be perfectly honest. There have been some videos I get my ass kicked so bad I just give up filming because I need to focus and the video is already trash lol! I definitely do cut stuff out, but I am trying to still be authentic. Sometimes it's just dumb mistakes, like one time I spent an entire day on a problem the notorious Daikin legend solved in 30 secs. Always remember I get my ass kicked like everyone else in the trenches...it's very tough sometimes. The problem with RU-vid (and social media in general) is that it's a highlight reel. All 8 hours of success distilled into a potent 30 min video. Mainly I try and show stupid fuck ups here and there as a realty check. I feel it's probably the ego that will hold young people back more than anything else in this trade!

I work on a fair bit of daikin & Mitsubishi electric stuff, have seen quite a few fan issues. But I’ve never been 100% positive with whether it’s the fan or the board. Common practice for the manufacturers tech support over here is to recommend a new board & fan motor. So I’ve likely changed a lot of perfectly fine fans or boards, one of the two. Which is a shame. I’d like to be able to test the components in isolation , some kind of generic PCB which will be able to ramp up and run 300vdc fans , eevs etc. Something fairly portable like a service checker , but also ubiquitous enough to be able to test across manufacturers

OH FOR SURE! Now the motor modules fail A LOT because of the in-rush NTC thermistor. But the logic boards that really should not fail unless a driver gets wiped but a simple LED box (designed right) could verify outputs good enough to be probably 99.9% sure. In fact, if you were to artificially load test it that would be almost 100%

By motor module do you mean the control/inverter board side? The fault is usually displayed as ‘ motor overcurrent ‘ . Yeah it would be a brilliant tool prevent wasted components , time & money. It’s the kind of test instrument that I get my dick out for 😄

Hahahaha man bro that’s so funny. I know what you mean. That’s the way I feel about my Vantage graphing meter 🤓

Yes, I mean the module that bolts to the back of the actual motor, but in some cases, especially with the 16 pin motors, there is still control being sent from the main furnace board. In theory, the main furnace board could have failed and not be commanding the motor. The best way to check is to use the driver tool to drive the motor yourself. Have I showed that tool yet?

I get what you mean now , I haven’t seen the driver tool yet? Is it like a 0-10v signal generator ?

Nice repair on that ceiling cassette motor. In regards to the other motor that is more labor intensive to replace the bearings. Are you replacing these as a permanent fix? Or coming back with a new motor and take back the one you repaired?
@HVACLife
@HVACLife 4 месяца назад
Permanent! In fact, it's possible it will outlast the initial OEM timespan!

Instead of saying "non-serviceable" they should say serviceable by skill level 5 with a scale of 1 to 5 👍 Yeah that right to repair stuff is a bunch of money grabbing crap.
