In this Video I have an amazing Vintage Hoyer Telecaster Guitar made in Germany from the sixties on my Luthier Workbench. This Company was founded in 1874 and I own myself a Telecaster Style Guitar called "White Lady" that was build in the 1980´s.
This Instrument has a couple of issues and needs some maintenance.
The owner asked me to take care about this very rare Instrument.It is equipped with Bill Lawrence Pickups a guy who used to work fore Fender and Gibson after he resettled to the U.S.A. This Instrument has a lot of interesting and unusual features which makes it very special. First of all I have to build a replacement for the missing Bridge Saddle. Then there a a lot of cracks on the Headstock so I have to inspect them and glue them if necessary. And there are a lot of other things that I have to take care of. In this Video you can follow the whole process. I will also explain and show a couple of "Luthier Hacks" in this Video. So if you are interested in my Luthier Craftsmanship stay tuned and enjoy the Video. I love doing stuff like that - if you are interested in more of my Luthier life Projects, please feel free to check out my other extended Workshop Videos on this channel.
Enjoy watching and sharing.
Best Regards Nik

That bridge design is legitimately quite clever. It's got full adjustment, but all the bits could be made with stuff bought from a hardware store and it doesn't have the issue that telecaster top loaders have where the string always goes underneath the saddle instead of over it

Thanks for your Feedback. Yes this is really effective. Quite a lot nice details on this Telecaster copy. Best Regards Nik

Happy that the cracks were just in the lacquer! I always regarded these plywood necks - that also Framus used back then - as quite durable! Really a beautiful guitar! 😍

Interesting, i got the same Hoyer telecaster from late 60s or early 70s, during the eighties i replaced the tuners with schaller tuners and installed an out of phase switch for the two singlecoils via a push pull pot which gave nice extra sound options. It still holds up nicely, thx for the video. Cheers

Frankin Tele - head stock is too small - wow, so many stress cracks in that neck - might need new frets soon. Sounds real nice!

Hi Nik. Great job! Thanks for sharing your work with us. Just one question: what is the liquid you put after sanding the excess of glue in the headstock crack? Maybe a future video talking about the products you use? Thanks and kindest regards. Antonio

Very nice job! Out of curiosity, why did you replace the tuner screws with new screws? Were the old ones too far stripped?
@petrekguitars
@petrekguitars 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and for your question. The screws were a bit to oversized and the crack II glue is because of them so I decided to change them to a smaller size and like the originals without a cross... Best Regards Nik
