I was once told by a song writer that you need to write a 100 mediocre songs before you’re able to write 1 great one. I’m sure you’d be perfectly capable of writing lyrics just as good as Hozier lyrics if that’s something you want to do. You just gotta practice and be dedicated and you’ll get there. There’s no hurry, just because one person achieved something at a certain age does not make you less valid for taking longer to get there. Don’t rush or stress about slow progress, we all take the time we need.

as an Iranian woman, it means a lot to me that he mentioned last year's protests and that he supported us through his platform back then. and even though we are still struggling and fighting for freedom(not just for the right not to wear hijab but for many other basic human rights) this kind of support even if it doesn't do much for us its still very heartwarming.thank you Andrew.

I've been a fan of hozier and loved this song for a long time but as an Iranian woman "take me to church" hits so different now since it was used as an anthem for protesters to express their frustration with the islamic republic. Yhe fact that a man truly felt and thought like that gave me a sense of reassurance and empowerment when I was criticized by men for wanting more and not settling for what they offered. As an Iranian, it means so much to us that he brought awareness to what's going on in Iran and Sarina's brutal death. Thank u Hozier

This guy is such an underrated artist, this song really blew up but he has so many other incredible songs which I feel are not given enough credit. This guy is a rare breed, a true artist to his core creating masterpieces from deep rooted passion & talent.

It has lasted because it's a masterpiece and masterpieces last. One of the few songs that always makes me feel. No matter how many days, months, years pass, take me to church will always make me feel something. And this is so special to me.

Hozier albums keep lining up perfectly with different stages of my life. If in 30 years this man is not considered a classic Irish poet i will be very mad. So happy to have been on this Hozier wave since the beginning, can't wait to see him again in Dublin in December❤️

Without realizing it till many years later, this might have been one of the most influential songs of my life. Truly a coming of age song, it almost hurts a little to listen to it brings back such strong memories

Very interesting what he says about the similarity with Born in the U.S.A. It's pretty nuts how many people still seem to completely misinterpret that song, like this one.

This was powerful, so deeply meaningful - and some lols. As it should be. Happy this is the song that I sung a lot while teaching myself to sing, and continued to come back to even after going a chorus and acapella group. Thank you Genius for having him on, 9 years later 💛🙏🏽

I can honestly say 10 years ago at 21 this song definitely felt too heavy for me. In the sense that I often listen to music to escape and keep it light and fun. Hearing it now at 31, becoming a mother, living more life, wow, I am in awe of it.

i discovered this song in 2014,every year to date i revisit it, to an extent that even my children loved it till they were teenagers ,we interpreted it in our own different ways of which we somewhat agreed that it could be mostly about an unaccepted love between 2 ppl who are genuinely obsessed with one another despite the confinements of the outside world ,they are in their own world of which only the 2 of them exist ,we still sing along each lyric by heart and my word some songs songs are better on loud and this is definitely one of them ,we up the volume and sing along like it's a choir 😅
