Some users are reporting that they were able to get their RAM running at 3200 Mhz, so either I have a messed up board or an old BIOS. I will be looking more into this.
They are using ram that is specced with JEDEC 3200 timings. Not xmp 3200. You would need to do a bit more research to find RAM that would complement this system.
My model is TP-01-2096 which might explain the difference. I put in 32 GB of DDR4 memory and it's running at 3200 MHZ and dual channel. That's the only change I made and my benchmarks were considerably higher than yours.
I bought one of these. The single-channel RAM didn't bother me, because that's virtually universal on prebuilts. The crippled BIOS is a nightmare, though.
Yeah normally single channel wouldn't be so bad, but when you're using an APU that relies so heavily on RAM performance then it just hurts more. Oh and that BIOS....dear god its so bad lol.
I'm glad you talked about the overclocking issue because I was wondering if overclocking the GPU part would give more FPS; however, it's a generic motherboard so it wouldn't make sense to have overclocking features. That desktop is more for people who don't tinker with it.
Being on sale for like 550 right now, I have a hard time not recommending this to a more casual friend of mine. Hes'e looking for a decent computer for music production, and building a PC from scratch would be 950$ + the stress of actually building it for him. I'd just tell him to re-install windows and get some 50$ ram.
Yeah I’m looking at a used one of these right now for what would be a killer deal… especially knowing I have a decent mid range GPU sitting around collecting dust, but the PSU is SO weak and looks like upgrading it is a pain in the butt since they did weird connectors on it like so many prebuilts.
I think the suckiest part of these is the horribly weak PSU they ship with. I think it’s like 180w so really can’t put a GPU in it even if you wanted to. And swapping out the PSU seems like a major hassle based on my research.
I bought this at the time for 549.99, office depot. Cheaper than ebay just the processor from flippers. Yanked the processor and built an APU machine. Gave the remaining parts away to turn into his business ups shipping station.
Yeah, it sucks that you can't get this chip retail but thats the way to go. I yanked the CPU out already and built a little ITX build. Its nice having 4000 Mhz Ram and be able to overclock the GPU clocks.
@@RaidOwl I think I built the same machine based on what the case you showed. Iwin Chopin. I keep reading that faster ram is better. I get that, however, when I read the 5700g it says 3200 is what it supports. I wanted to buy 4400 mhz or higher but didn't know if that would help. Also does Cas Latency matter?
@@mcart1234 yeah I see the spec sheet says 3200 supported but I've got it pushed to 4000 with no issues. Cas latency doesn't matter so much for these APUs because the GPU is going to use your system RAM as it's VRAM so the clock speed is much more important.
It's amazing how these computers are cheap there. I am in Italy and was searching for a desktop for my dad. I could only find an hp without dvd, with 8gb ram and with an inferior 4650g. All for more than 600 euro (equivalent to 720 usd). I would buy that for 550 usd in a millisecond.
I know im commenting a bit late on this, but as a network engineer and enthusiast, my feedback may be relevant... first and foremost... AMD is ALWAYS dual channel ram especially on apu's. am4 socket is what I am still running on my main pc still ( i built it when am4 came out) I have had the 2400g, now the 5700g. Both top notch cpu's in thier own right. The added IGPU is icing. the IGPU on the 5700g is stout enough ( with a proper motherboard and memory clocked to 3200) to run modern games in 1080p with solid framerates ( 30fps average at1080p w BG3 at medium) which is far better than say a 1030 gtx. Fantastic for a light gaming ar streaming server. Being able to game is GREAT especially with the miners buying up all the graphics cards! Im probably going to move forward to AM5 relatively soon, but I want to see if the cost justifies the performance. Very happy with my 5700g, and 6600. Plays all my games very well and is far more power efficient thand team blue/green!

Oh yeah this will be fine for doing streams. You’ll want to make sure it’s set to software encoding (not sure if the integrated gpu can do hardware encoding). You should be good though.
Was just gonna buy this for school use and workloads (i do some gaming on the laptop , this this would be optional) , would have changed the RAM to Dual channel (and the motherboard later) Till i saw the price went to $700 from $550
I guess you have an early one, or perhaps HP listened? I have the TP01-2775nd. It came with the same specs as yours plus a 1Tb HDD (swapped it for a 2Tb SSD as I wanted a quiet system) and two sticks of 8Gb RAM. It runs at 3200mHz out of the box. According to Userbenchmark the CPU runs at 106% compared to other users with the same CPU in different systems. The Cooler Master CPU cooler it came with doesn't cut it for the 5700G though. It's so tiny, mine only has an 80mm fan. But that's about to be replaced with a NH-L12S. Case & PSU fan have already been replaced with Noctua Redux fans. Right now I run Fortnite at 1080p with everything on medium and and it runs great. I just had to limit the FPS to 60 for now because of the core temps with the stock cooler.
I bought this machine on Saturday and definitely had my issues with it. Thankfully, there is USB 3.0 on the rear for my hub. Next, you can't output to 4k @ 60hz due to the shitty HDMI 1.4b spec and you're stuck at 30hz. So, I popped in my EVGA GTX 1050 and was able to run at 4k @ 60hz. Next, the audio jacks would not cut it since my speakers are digital out. I was able to fit in my Soundblaster Z PCIe x1 card and that also worked. Unfortunately, you cannot disable the onboard AMD Vega graphics nor the RealTek audio via the BIOS; only by Windows 10. I also ended up purchasing a Crucial 16GB DD4-3200 UDIMM and an Intel 670p 2TB m.2 to replace the no-name 256GB m.2 SSD on there. At least there is a bay to add in a 3½" internal hard drive. I just pray the anemic 180W power supply will support all of those perpherials.

Is it a good solution when I can only buy the APU and the other parts, just to play esports titles and some lighter games and a couple of years down the line buy a GPU for dirt cheap ?
yeah the way to do it , but i am waiting more 6 months for a gpu , that way i can make a good gaming PC in the end by splitting my budget without sacrificing in quality or performance ( eventually )
To be fair to them, this isn't marketed as a gaming PC, it's marketed as a workstation. They have a separate line-up for gaming PC's. But yea, limiting it to 2133 is a kick to the nuts. But given that their gaming PC has a worse processor (Ryzen 3500 I believe) + a GTX1650 and I don't think the memory frequency is gimped, and that's all for the same price as this? I think that's an easy alternative for gamers.
@@larsonmedia4687 This won't be good for many games because it doesn't have a standalone graphics card, it relies on integrated graphics, the HP Pavilion Gaming PC has a dedicated GTX 1650 graphics card. With the Ryzen 3 3500 processor (which is slower than this, but the processor isn't heavily used in typical games) it can be had for the same price as this, actually currently $100 less than this because it's on sale. Which means you can even upgrade the HP Pavilion Gaming PC to the Ryzen 5 which is pretty close in speed to this for the same price as this and get a discrete graphics card for free. But even if it wasn't on sale, I'd rather pay $850 for that with the Ryzen 5 for gaming than $700 for this with no discrete graphics card. Gotta consider that the GTX 1650 that's in the Gaming PC are selling for $400 on ebay because of the chip shortage. The price of graphics cards is so high you get an amazing deal with the Pavilion Gaming PC at the moment, HP is really eating the cost on that one. Will be a different story after the pandemic when the supply chain catches up & graphics card prices fall, but for now you can't even build a system with a good dedicated graphics card for cheaper than the Pavilion Gaming PC. If I didn't want a dedicated graphics card, I'd not by this either, for $700 I'd get a mini PC or build an ITX for a similar cost. But for gaming I'd rather not rely on integrated graphics.
It probably won't run it too well, but it could handle it at lower settings. I would recommend to just replace the old GPU with something like a GTX 1060 or RX 560/570.

The 5700G should be able to handle both of those games without issues. You won’t be running them at super high fps/graphics but the games will run perfectly fine at lower settings.
Using 2 mem sticks increases the scores a lot. It only comes with 1 stick and need 2 for dual channel access. Change to 2 8GB's or get 1 more (matching) 16GB.
what do you consider a lot? It has been proven time and time again that the difference between dual and single channel is negligible and almost impossible to notice.
You’re welcome! For light photo editing (basic corrections on a 24MP image) this should be fine. When you step into hi res photos and start applying many filters/blurs/layers and other corrections you’ll start to see it struggle. Batch processing will also be pretty mediocre with this chip.

Given the size of the case, anything Micro-ATX would help, I've seen Gigabyte and MSI A320M motherboards that would work just fine. RAM stick anything DDR4 3200 would help.
I just want 60 FPS and smooth. I'm not some super nerd gamer. I just want to play CSGO, R6, run bluestacks to play some android games... Shouldn't this handle that?
Would this PC be ok for using animation software like Maya, zBrush & Photoshop once another stick of ram is added? Or would I need to upgrade it by e.g. just adding a good graphics card?
I bought a model back in September & finally paid it off today. Granted it's a newer "model". However it's still using the single channel 16gb Ram, AGPU Ryzen 7 5700g with 8cores 16 threads. However mine is stripped down even more with internal DVD/CD drive, the terrible bios and they disabled the VEGA 8 Graphics limiting the computer to only have 512mb of VRAM. What's even worse the Power Supply is oem only with measly 180w & two 4 pin connectors. Aye what I find to be ironic is that the dell studio XPS 7100 I had before was much more capable machine. The specs where an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHZ Six core processor, 16gb of DDR3 ram, two 2gb HDD's and 2gb Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.. sadly that died due to age and Picked this up thinking I was getting a deal. All I can say this live & learn and do research before buying ANYTHING prebuilt these days.
@@RaidOwl more or less, strangely enough the Amd Adlerian software says I can over-clock the Agpu using their software.. but given the low-wattage of the PSU.. I don't want to fry the thing.

I have one of these systems, but it has a ryzen 3 5300g. The bios/task manager say the memory is running at 3200mhz, is this true or false? I’m also looking to upgrading to 8x2 of 3200mhz memory, will it basically run at 2133mhz or at its rated speed?
Its almost (At this point with current prices of the chip alone) to buy this complete system, pull the chip and put that 5700g in your own build; buy another chip and give the pre built PC to someone who maybe is a web browsing warrior.
I'm thinking about getting one of these to use as a Linux workstation. Is it fairly quiet? I don't care about gaming - the only game I play on Linux is QuakeLive (on Steam).

I bought the exact same pc. Waiting on 2nd stick of ram. At the moment it is unplayable on no man's sky. Noticed vram really low but motherboard will not let me increase. Thinking this could solve alot

Ehhh this really isn't powerful enough to handle any real CAD work. You'd be better off looking for an older gaming laptop, maybe with a 1050ti or 1060 in it.
Would this pc be good for programs like streamlabs? I'm really just looking into upgrading from my laptop to a pc and use this as a form to transmit my streams. I play on PS5 and use ps remote play. So need something that could handle that. I figure my laptop does why wouldnt this?
Can you test whether the USB-C supports external monitor (HDMI)? And do you know how two have dual channel 3200mhz RAM work on this PC, since I put two sticks of Trident RGB 3200mhz but it only received 2133mhz. Thank you so much
And when I test with the stock RAM (single channel) or one stock RAM and another RAM (also 3200mhz, dual channel), the stock RAM is always 3200mhz. (3200mhz and 3200-2133mhz).
Unfortunately you won't be able to get video output through the usb-c port as its data only. As for the RAM, someone down in the comments mentioned that this motherboard requires "JEDEC 3200MHz RAM, not XMP 3200MHZ RAM". I have never seen this before but it basically seems that you have to ensure the JEDEC timings of your RAM is the speed you want. I hope this helps.
Yes there is, but there are no pci power connectors. You can either run a low power card or convert the two sata power plugs to pci 6/8 pin using an adapter.
It really depends on the game and what resolution your monitor is. It can play easier to run games just fine at 1080p but more demanding games are going to struggle at even medium settings.
All you do is talk about gaming,. This was not intended to be a gaming computer. this was for someone that doesnt play games on the PC. I am glad you found a way to play games by putting the CPU on a new motherboard,. But I am impressed with this cheaper and faster computer, only wish it had more Buses on the motherboard and more than just 1 NVMe M.2 slot for a SSD. Also i dont play games on it, thats why i have a PS5. I would recommend not playing games on this and dont try to update the graphics on it because then you'll just have to buy a new power supply with more wattage,etc. the price is good on these, mine was $575
well i have bought it my self and just took the ryzen 7 5700g out of it and sold the computer for 450 dollars ish just to get the cpu since u cant get it right now and built my own system and there is a such performance incresse to u can now run fortnite at avrage 90+ fps and warzone at avrage 61 fps. If u get this machine do as i did its totally worth it or wait until the end of the summer or sooner to get it (what i have read to get one from stores)
@@redpilljesus No i selled it as for parts pc either u could buy the whole thing or by a component from it but the person that i selled and shiped to took the whole thing with no cpu witch i told him but he said its fine (plus it stood that no cpu come with it both in the title and description but was clear on what cpu had been in the motherboard socket / pc)

My chip ram patriot for 95$ work a same mgz, but started on 2666. I waisted muchtime for ?3%? Up framerate. So dont care about mgz, in many situation is nothing.
What if I wanted to get this.... Just to put music AND.....MOVIES Back in my old school IPOD CLASSIC 7TH GEN??!! We used to have a desktop that I would use.......to convert DVDs to IPOD FILES! 1CLICKDVDTOIPOD must have had like 40 movies on my ipod that came in super handy for my job . Truck and trailer driver Especially when i would go on 3 hour drives! Connect the AUX cable to the radio and listen to music or just hear a movie to keep me entertained during long drives. But suddenly, all my files were deleted from the IPOD!!!! And I'm looking to upload everything I had! ITUNES and download DVDs to ipod files!
