I like this printer for printing documents. It maybe quiet slow but the copies come out clear and sharp. I got instant ink subscription. The ink is cheaper and replacement comes in the mail quickly. No problem at all.
HP Instant INK $5.99 for the INK and 50 pages. These cartridges last forever and they're included for the monthly $5.99 I love this computer. I use it everyday.
I am a grandmother too and I love this printer, I work from home and have owned it since 03/2021. You should have mentioned the "instant ink" feature available when you purchase this printer!!! Go back and check out the information regarding this feature.
I agree with your assessment. I purchased this printer in October 2020, and I wish I had waited and viewed your review beforehand. I don't think I have ever owned a worse printer. Furthermore, I have lost a lot of respect for HP.
Bought the 4155E back in December. After i got it set up, it worked ok until my fiber optic modem dropped out. Everything else in the house started right back up, except this printer. To date NOTHING I have done have got it back to connect with my router, wasted hours on this printer and still no Bluetooth connection. So I bought a USB-C to printer cable, and so far NO printing yet. Wish I had bought the Epson.
It’s not great for pictures. You can print shipping labels perfectly fine. For about the same price, you could get the Epson Workforce WF-2850. It is also little better at printing photos, but is still not the best compared to other printers.

I have always been a HP fan. But this printer has given me so many problems, that it may well be the last HP product that I ever buy. I have owned it for over a month and still can't use the scan option. It is ridiculous that I should have to download a third party app (which will not install) in order to have the drivers to fully use this printer/scanner. On a scale of 1 to 5. It is a definite minus 5.
I also have had a similar issue when printing from my computer with numerous HP printers. If you have the HP Smart app on your computer, then that could be causing the issue. I have spoken to HP about it in the past as it has been happening to me and others for the past 2 years. I would recommend uninstalling HP Smart from your computer and downloading the full driver from www.hp.com/support That should hopefully solve your issue.
I have not been able to get the paper to feed into the printer. I have viewed 3 hp RU-vids regarding this issue but did not find any video for 4155e. I am attempting to print a document from my hp laptop. The printer starts up but does not feed the paper. I have tried powering the printer down. Also have placed a single sheet of paper. Argh!
Is this also the same as the 4140? that's the one that I have. This looks good for me. I don't care about speed. I will probably only use it once every few months and no more than 4 or 5 pages.
Does anyone have a noise problem with this printer? I think the noise is coming from the scanner bar that goes back and forth (with lights). does anyone know how to fix it?
This printer can be a little loud when the scanner bar goes across the top. When the scanner is opened, it may move a little to the right. The bar does sometimes flash when the cover is lifted. I don’t think there is a way to change it.
An Update: A few months after recording this video, the printer began to have more troubles. The printer began to freeze up at random times, and I would need to unplug and replug it in each time. It also began to have issues with printing over WiFi. This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a printer in quite a while and I am greatly dissatisfied with the product. As an alternative to this product, I would recommend the Epson Workforce 2850. An even better choice would be to spend $79 more for an Epson Workforce Pro EC-4040. That printer boasts way more features, and is a true Workforce. It has been selling for $179 at Staples.com, and at other retailers.
I really (did I say REALLY???) hate this thing. Had an Epson something or other and wish I were still using it. I think it's still here somewhere. I may dig it out and hook it back up. I figured out scanning but I need to just print a plain old fashioned "copy this thing I put on the platen" kind of copy. Cannot figure out what's wrong. Pressing the copy button goes nowhere. (I did already say I hate this thing, right? LOL) PS I like your delivery. Easy to listen to.
You can print with a cable if you have one. But you cannot use the scan feature without the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store. Many people (including me) who are using Windows 10, have difficulty getting this app to install.
I would recommend not purchasing this printer ... the ink levels are disastrous, the ink cartridge have chips alerting you on useless info. In short the main feature of this SMART printer is to control you. I so regret purchasing it
I am very disappointed in this printer. The only thing that I like about it is it's small size. It took quite awhile to set up. I had to call a neighbor over to help me. He's a software engineer. He had a hard time with it too. I still haven't been able to figure out how to fax from this machine. I have my old broken machine under my desk that still works well enough to fax. Very, very disappointed. I wish that I would have taken more time to research before I bought this.
It can, but it does a really bad job and it takes like 3 minutes just for a 4x6. It also cannot print borderless. If you want a good home photo printer, then I would recommend the Epson XP 8600, or the Canon TS8320. They can also do a great job with printing documents. Have a great rest of your day!
Great choice! I own the EC-4040. The only main differences are that the EC-4040 has a larger touchscreen, an extra paper tray, faster color printing, and larger ADF feeder. For a small office or home printer, that is a great choice!
if you need something to waste time money and space this is THE best printer for the purpose. If you need an actual functioning printer look elsewhere. This is THE worst printer of all time. If you have one: may god have mercy on your soul.
