Hey I want to modify my unit to work with 13.8V I guess if I'll solder proper resistor in the same place as your pot it should work right? Could you tell me what kind of resistor is needed there in order to have 13.8V? There is a lot of radio amateurs using this kind of power supply, but this particular model PL29/PL30/PL42 are not documented on how to achieve 13.8V

To achieve an output of 13.8 volts, you will need to connect a 1.8 kilohm(R1) resistor in parallel. Additionally, for OVP adjustment, it is recommended to parallel an approximately 6.63 kilohm(R2) resistor. Adding a resistor between the 14th pin of the MCU(dsPIC33FJ64GS606) and ground can increase the OVP voltage.

Far better to put an SPST switch on the front instead of a resistor, at least then you can turn the power supply on and off without having to unplug the mains. Better than a live DC output.

Thank you so much for your suggestion! I agree with your point, using an SPST/Pushbutton switch instead of a resistor is a wise choice. It makes it more convenient to control the power supply without having to unplug the mains.

Something is wrong with this HSTNS PL-30 resistors modification. I'm not sure about reprogramming but who going to buy $100 programmer to mod $20 power supply once in life?

@@taoli1239 Thank you for response. Issue is solved. I put bypass resistor in wrong circuit. After I realized my mistake just soldered SMD 1.8 K resistor right over existing. It bring voltage to 13.8 volts. Second resistor wasn't installed because everything is working fine. Thank you again.
