HP OMEN 15 Review - Super Fast Gaming Laptop! 

If HP lowers the cost of the upgrades and improves the keyboard, this would be a very compelling gaming laptop. Also, does anyone know if you can just yoink a 230W charger from a different laptop and use it with this? It looks like a standard barrel plug, but I don't have any other chargers on me at the moment. That could be a solution for anyone looking for more than 10 hours of full system load at a time.

I really appreciate HP change the Omen logo from that ugly sketch like MSI to a more modern cube.

My Heart wobbled when he was twisting the screen.

This thing is a beast and blazing fast for gaming. Highly recommend espacailly for Cyberpunk.

I have a 2018 version of this, worked just fine, until I bought a second DDR4 16GB RAM and now I’m getting near desktop performances on a laptop under 1200. It’s not half bad, really!

*For me its design is good both externally and internally. It does make you pay attention to certain details but it is not aggressive at all. I wish our future is going to look something similar to this!*

awesome review! the thermals are so good, really has me considering this laptop seriously. Was going to go with the 2020 Helios 300 before seeing this, which do you prefer?

I have 2 of these for my son and wife, they are pretty damn decent laptops for the price in my opinion. I would def get another as well if I need another laptop, no complaints.

Mine is a Ryzen 7 4800H, GTX 1660Ti version and I've owned this laptop for about two weeks now (swapped it for a Razer 15) and wow, what a difference. Granted I do miss the all metal chassis of the Razer, but damn I gained quite a bit instead. The thermals, as you rightly point out, are extremely good; my keyboard deck barely gets warm even after hours of gaming whereas on my Razer you could probably cook a marshmallow on it. The keyboard is where I would disagree with you ever so slightly, as I find it quite delightful to type on and I use all my fingers. I understand this area is subjective but for me at least, I actually like what HP has done with the keyboard. And I've been getting a solid 3-4 hours on a single charge doing light productivity work, which dwarfs the 1 hour I was getting on the Razer. My discharge rate is much lower than the Razer, so good on HP (never thought I'd say that!). Good review man, keep it up! I also realize this video has been up for more than a month but I'm a little behind :)

Attractive design! Legion 5 is still top on my list, as it has a number pad, and replaceable WiFi card. (The card in my current HP laptop died. So, I don't want to deal with that again.) See you in 50 years!

Yes, people, it'll play games at a fast speed. You won't be waiting long like some peasants with i3's and i5's. You can even open up pornhub really quick and close it, if that's what your worried about.

$1670 for i7 10750H, 16GB RAM, RTX2060, 60Hz screen is too expensive honestly. I have a Lenovo Y740 with i7 8750H, 16GB RAM, RTX 2070, and 144Hz screen and I remember its price is lower (in the US). For gaming, I don't think the i7 10750H will improve that significantly to justify this price. Also, the Legion 7i with similar specs is under $1400.

HP you had me at full sized SD slot, you lost me at i7 instead of R7, i see that the R7 version only has 1650/1660TI

Question: Does the model you reviewed here have an intel processor or an AMD Ryzen processor?

Exterior wise I love this laptop! Because if think about other laptops like the Acer nitro 5, they scream gaming. When you do other things like using ms word or something, it doesn't look like it's meant for those casual works. But, with the hp omen no one would even think that it's a gaming laptop and I love it!

Quick question. I have the same laptop. My monitor frequency drops to 134hz on battery and is back to 300hz on charger. Is that normal?

I bought the 17" version back in May and I have been very happy with it. I agree with the comments about value, but HP had a promotion for the summer that dropped the price by $490 when combined with some other discounts. I also thought their upgrades were too high, so I ordered kind of a bare bones system with a 500gb M.2 stick, but then I added an additional 1tb card and a 2tb ssd/hd (total of $185 for both vs ~$700 from HP). I'm super happy. I use mine mostly for editing 4k video.

I love the keyboard placement as it preserved a rational PgUp PgDn buttons. More laptops should do this. And yeah, I don't understand why laptop manufacturers insist on making wrong key travel. Strictly better to make 2mm key travel. No reason not to make it good. All it needs is a touch screen and I'd consider it.

Which to choose omen 15 4800h+rtx 2060 vs omen 15 10750h +rtx 2060 vs acer predator helios 300 10750h+rtx 2060, price is almost similar for all 3 in my country also not much different from each other nothing bad in all 3. Primary use is gaming but i wont play games like forever so mix use later and this is kind of primary laptop then a gaming only laptop for me. Plz reply🙏🙏🙏

This laptop seems like a nice combo for data scientist/analyst by day and gamer at evenings. I still want to see the 1440p panels as an option though on these 15 inch laptops for that extra screen real estate.

Wow no wonder why you not happy with the specs at the price you paid. I saw same laptop with 4k and rtx 2070 and per key light or rgb light for just $1800. Although I don't know if it new or used/open box also I don't know if it has 4k at 60hz or 120hz

What a video man, pure class... Any other alternatives for around the same price or a bit cheaper with pros and cons against this laptop? I've got the last Gen laptop with the metal chassis, 9750h, 2070 and 240hz panel, and I've got to say that I got it for about £1440 and at that price it was about £600 cheaper than any equivalent from other brands my favourite choice being the blade 15 which was about £1000 more great value IMO

Funny enough my HP OMEN 17-ck0501na 17" Gaming Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7, RTX 3060 omen 3060 i7 2021 track pad skipped a lot which made me 😡 when doing admin work so I sent it back to shop for repair and they replaced track pad. Also battery losing 30% while switched off (not standby) for a week so I’ve sent back into shop today. Speakers are best I’ve ever had.

Am I the only one that thinks HP is getting cheaper with the HP Omen just look at that 2018 HP OMEN X then look at the 2019 HP OMEN. And now look at this ulgy cheap plastic 2020 HP Omen this new design is terrible after my 2019 HP Omen becomes out dated I'm gonna switch to Alienware.

I have previsous model. This looks good but I prefer old one. As for reproductors - i dont agree - I WANT good reproducktor in gaming laptop. Where else? In past gaming laptops were great.. now? Nah.. Even Macbook 12 has better sound that most of HP/DELL/Alieware laptops. As for chargers - usually all laptops from one company are compatible. For exp DELL is using same charging port about 12 years. Same with HP I think.

hello, no gaming, no editing video, no autocad.. i will use web browsing, youtube.. and two financial program that needs H series power and multiple intel core power. .. i concern about omen 2020 fan noise.. my programs do not need so much CPU power like gaming. but in daily use omen 2020 has fan noise? thank you.

This laptop has such bad speakers. They are so quiet and the volume goes up and down randomly. It's a driver issue they have yet to fix. This could have been a perfect laptop for me if the speakers didn't suck so badly.

I have a suggestions, not sure if anyone will agree. I would typically go to a few reviewers for a product that i want. However i do not want to spent 10 mins multiply by 5 reviews = 50 mins of my time to watch each reviewer. I can certainly speed up the video but i dont think that's the point. would be great if the reviewer can include sections or even summaries the review in say 3 mins instead of 10-15 mins
