Disassembly guide for the HP Pavilion 15 n270sa laptop, including how to upgrade the memory, hard drive and wireless card.
Sorry this video isn't particularly concise - I was unable to find any documentation for this disassembly and so had to work things out as I went along.

Here from the distant future of August 27th, 2021. Covid-19 variant D is running rampant across the world. A silicone chip shortage plagues the electronics industry, yet my mother-in-law NEEEEEDS her ancient laptop to run Words With Friends FASTER! This video helped me swap her HDD for an SSD, and max out her RAM. She's good to go for another decade i figure =) THANKS! =)

If you only want to take out the keyboard there is one screw to remove under the RAM door marked with a keyboard sign. Use a thin screwdriver to push out the keyboard where the screw was and don't worry the tip of the screwdriver is pushing against the screw boss. Then grab the edge of the portion of displaced keyboard to un-clip the rest of it. No need to prise it out using a thin blade.

Thanks, it helped me a lot. This HP model is great, very good build quality, stunning desing, but what a pain just to replace the HDD with an SSD. Thanks mate!

Thanks for the Video, helpful to me I just did a hdd replacement on a HP 15-n298sa Very similar 3 screws under DVD drive, and where you started at 4:45 with pry tool at from front, there are 3 nodges at rear in battery containment area, push them in as pulling apart, and start at back and pry around sides.

Thanks a lot! It is very useful guide. I have a question. Should I have to disassemble all the screws in order to clean the fan? I ruined the top left screw(left of the battery near the disc driver). Am I still able to open the top part of it or not in that case?

hi for the first bit, my 'captive screws' wont pop up. They did before but i didnt realise it was ment to happen so i managed to screw both the screws fully out

I've disassembly this laptop so many times that I've no problems doing it myself. I was more looking for this particular plastic sheet between the keyboard up part and the inside/motherboard part. I didn't manage to see if you're having this piece on yours. I would like to remove it but I don't want make short circuit. Perhaps, do you have this information? Thanks!

I have a slightly different model but things appear to be the same. n267sa. you mentioned a clip to remove the keyboard cable, i couldn't see in the video and can't see a clip on my laptop. Any ideas?

thanks for you video; just I would like you opinion o possible solutions when HP pavilion 15 no start and just the light of start button blinking couples of times... I seen this problem in many people that have this laptop; is possible you make a video about it? cheers

WHY THE HELL YOU DIDNT SAY ABOUT THE SMALL SCREWS BY THE CD DRIVE SIDE. THEY ARE VERY SMALL BRUSHED STEEL COLOURED. THERE ARE THREE OF THEM. I CANT OPEN THE FRONT COVER BECAUSE OF THEM, AND BY SOME MIRACLE YOU DONT HAVE THE SCREWS.

+vnklololis My apologies, when I edited it I sped up removing the base screws (as 5 minutes of screw removal is boring) and cut it in the wrong place before returning to normal speed. You can see me removing in the video but it should have been slowed down and described. Hope it didn't cause you too many problems.

+Brue Computing I also had problems with removing the front cover because of the three screws.. can you possibly remake the guide with the disassembly of that part? I'm not sure how to go about it myself..

+Brue Computing Is it possible to swap the motherboard from one HP Pavilion 15-n270sa to another lets say a 15-n034nr? I know they are the same size an shape but would I run into other problems?

My keyboard and those 3 screws under the DVD port wouldn't come off. I struggled badly but managed to break the fan and take it out. No more GRRRAWWOORRRURRRRR anymore! External fan should be bought soon...

I took my HP pavilian 15--n278sa apart. When i put it back together, the screen wouldnt light up. Now the laptop will not turn on. I also found a tiny screw with a blue base. I dont know where it goes. Could you help me please?

Yes, you can see there are 2 SO-DIMM slots under the panel on the back.

My laptop's hard drive on this model is failing. I've backed up my data and would like to keep using it. Do you know the hard drives dimensions and what connection it uses? Or can you direct me to a replacement? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you can, I wouldn't mind paying a tenner or whatever for the info through paypal.
