Just got a Pavillion plus 14 oled (Canada) with 1355u, 16gb DDR5 memory, 1tb nvme. So far it's wonderful and it was 1100 CAD on sale. Also, variable refresh rate up to 120hz I think
Im in Oceania and our variation of the pavilion plus 14 has a slightly altered speaker set up (still down firing, but on the front rather than the sides) as well as no micro sd reader or fingerprint scanner. same specs as far as I know.
US spec, AMD version of this laptop is the basically the perfect spec’s laptop for me. Been searching for something like this for months. Great review!
I don’t get this trend some laptop brands (HP especially) lately have of putting major ports on the right side - the one which most people use the mouse on, so they will be kind of inconvenienced in that by any connected cord. 🤔 Besides that, it sounds like a pretty overall good laptop but I’m not sure I’d consider it - I’ve had too many bad experiences with HP laptops.
Its likely just a cost saving measure sadly. By putting all the circuit board on one side they reduce the overall material cost. Its a dirty trick but a common practice none the less.
I just ordered a Pavilion Plus 14” wide ultra XGA Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 7540u - 16gb memory - 512gb - integrated graphics for about $500…. Not sure if that’s good? Anyone help?
Your review helped me in buying this laptop. The latest version has a DDR5 RAM. I was trying to check my thunderbolt 4 port but I don't see it mentioned in my device manager. Just curious, do you know if the laptop you tested had it in the device manager? I see a USB4 in my system devices but no thunderbolt.
I got an Zenbook 14 non-oled with intel i7 & 16gig ram & 1tb ssd (costco) - $499 + tax I also got an Zenbook 14x with 8gig ram & 512gb ssd - $499 + tax Now i also ordered this with Ryzen 7 & 16gig ram & 1tb sss -$599 + tax Which one should i keep???
Thanks for your review! I was waiting for this for a long time 😍 I have a few questions, does it can be opened with one hand? Does it have rapid recharge?
Hi, the best buy on canadian website says bilingual keyboard. Does the keyboard key setup differs in the canadian model of this laptop sold on best buy ?
@@SoulOfTech Thanks. I'v finally found some i5 P units with TB4. But I don't know if the extra cost of the i7 U + RTX 2050 + 2.8K OLED display but without TB4 (2 10Gb USB C instead) worth the extra cost, specially when it comes to battery life. Battery life is one of the main weak points on this model: only51Wh 😕
Not a great fan of any laptop that has a casing which vibrates when playing audio, even at moderate volume levels, which the HP Pavillion Plus 14 does. Hence my reason for returning it and asking for a refund.
They use different motherboards. The AMD board would likely need to modified to include a SD card and companies don't like spending money to re-engineer stuff often times sadly.
@@SoulOfTech i honestly like the amd model more because the keyboard is darker so you can read it more easily but the intel model's keyboard looks more aesthetic oh and i have a question, is the touchpad made of glass or metal?
@@EmyNN yea this review is focusing on the older version on this laptop. I have the 2023 7840u version and the keys are dark gray. So much easier to read 😅 The laptop is also a lot more energy efficient than the Intel version but that's a given.
The new Pavilion Plus has a dark grey keyboard and a different display (120Hz) on the HP website and in another review I saw. Is this perhaps a Canadian variant?
The Ryzen and Intel "U" series variants get the dark grey HP keyboard, while the "P" series intel chip variants get the light grey keyboard. The 120hz is only available in US at this time to your point. Thanks for watching!
My 14 plus oled is the dark grey keyboard, 120 Hz, BestBuy Canada. Maybe it is the US variant? It doesn't have French lettering on the keyboard. It is a u series
