Interesting and helpful regarding your experience with this laptop and video editing, which is what I need a new machine for. I have an old HP Pavillion and upgraded it last year with a new 512 SSD and boosted the RAM to 16Gb all of which I am looking for in a new machine. However, I am sure my old AMD Dual core processor is the limiting factor that I hope a Ryzen & 5700u will take care of.

Yeah the touchscreen could definitely come in handy! Ryzen 7 is a beast so I'm sure it will be a good choice!

One of these is being sent to me as a replacement for my old unit which HP lost during repair. Thanks to your review I'm excited about this arriving, so thank you. No idea whether or not mine will have the backlit keyboard but otherwise it's exactly the same spec as yours. You sound english and mentioned english prices, but the layout of the keyboard you showed in the video isn't. So that's more confusion, coupled with HP showing images of this unit having a microSD card reader. For me, it's replacing a 2019 Ryzen 5 3500u from the essential range, so should be quite a nice step up regardless.

Thanks for your review. I'm also looking for something similar to render in Vegas. Quick question - how does it take 4k files processing? I'm about to record in 4k and export into full HD. Any experience with proxy building times for each clip?

Hi, Thanks for the great review! Would you consider this laptop upgraded with 32GB of RAM for some heavy programing and not too advances but mid tear video editing?

I think it will depend on the activities. For example for working with lots of data the extra ram will help but hard to say for others. With the video editing again I'm not sure it would be ram limited, will probably vary by application

I've got this laptop. It's the 2nd one I've had under my warranty. This last one is overheating like mad!! I noticed with both laptops that the fan comes on often. I think the overheating may be affecting my applications. I've got good anti-virus so I don't think it's malware. btw, I do get wifi drop out but I thought it was my internet provider?

not sure what wifi 6 is but I can connect to both 2.4 and 5 G networks, and works pretty well!

I think it just isn't a super optimized game, but the internal graphics are always going to struggle I think

hey I would say with integrated graphics the experience will be similar. If you are quite into gaming i would try to get something with a dedicated graphics card!

I find with mixed use 4 hours or so, will depend on the tasks a lot. As I mention in the review, the battery size of 45 Wh is pretty average and I have seen some laptops with upwards of 60!

I’d suggest upgrading to dual channel ram by adding another 16gb ddr4 sodimm. These hp laptops typically come with just ONE of the TWO Sodimm slots occupied with a 16gb ddr4 module, gimping the stock AMD APU performance. They are ~$30. After that make sure to install AMD APU Tuning Utility and your cpu and G-CPU performance will improve significantly. You’ll wind up with a 32gb RAM notebook that can outperform an m1 MacBook Air (a great machine). I have e pro book with old 45000u hexacore 😢w 32 gb ram. I’m thinking of upgrading to a 5700u hp like this, I love these solid aluminum Probooks. They are beasts that withstand heavy abuse and it’s no wonder all the hospitals use them!

You're definitely not responsible for this hp is, however, I have had to reset it 3 times to stop constant blue screens, blank screens and restarts which still have not been resolved, crackly speakers that do not get nearly as loud as they were when the laptop was new, constant fan noise, terrible battery life, depreciated 70% in 2 years and horrible build quality, the hinge squeaks and when closed, I can move the lid back and forth.

also hp's website driver download page is idiotically lazy, it downloads amd, intel and nvidia drivers which are very obviously incompatable, my only hope is that i payed for 3 years warranty and they may fix everything wrong with it
