For the money these are great trucks, however they do have quite a number of issues as you have seen a few of them. Stock axles are a problem re bending or breaking, this is why Maverick now offer HD axles. Which I noticed you replaced the axle with the HD axle. Turnbuckles are also a weakness that snap easy, they now offer upgrade HD turnbuckles. Shock shafts bend to easy especially when you break an A arm, they now offer HD shock shafts made from tougher stronger steel. Stock A arms break very easy, they split open at the hinge pin end of the arm, again all replacement A arms are the new stronger arms that has more plastic added at the hinge pin end of the arm. You can tell the difference of the original arms & the newer arm by looking at the end of the arm where the hinge in hole is drilled through the arm. The new arms are an oval shape at the end, the weak arms are round ends with less material at the end. Bodies break very easy as they are brittle & not Lexan, Maverick offer a clear replacement body which is more expensive than the stock painted body. This is because it is thicker stronger Lexan. Most of the plastics like towers/body mounts & bumpers are pretty brittle as well, I treated most of my plastic on my Quantum with WD40 to make it a bit more durable. They are great fun trucks though, I love running mine even though you have to give then a bit more respect than say your average Amma's. As you pointed out Moe, by the time you factor in future costs on breakages. You are in Granite BLX, Big Rock BLX 3s territory.
Very-very well written and valuable insight, Gillian! Thanks for taking the time to share this with the “team”! This is the type of stuff we all need to know and it seems you have a lot of frontline knowledge! Appreciate you and have a good day! 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🏎
I haven’t watched yet. I got the XT+, and I will tell you I haven’t broken 1 part in your description. I will say, parts availability is more of the issue in the States. It’s something different than the usual. The XT+ drives well and it’s fun. Drove up a tree and got wings No RedBull
@@idjc2621 The XT+ comes with the HD axles stock, the earlier smaller Quantum flux came with the soft axles. That would bend just by looking at them, the standard Quantums now also come with HD axles. But if you get an early model you will have the bad axles.
I got my daughter a pink rustler 4x4 vxl and after seeing she only had two speeds, off and on, I got her a la Trax desert runner and she loves it. I can only imagine the broken parts if she kept the rustler. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Hey mate. It was really nice to see how enthusiastic and forgiving you were with your son. I just bought one of these for me and my daughter to share. Hope I can be as patient as you haha.
I have purchased this two years ago as my first real RC. I now own a traxxas maxx v2, a traxxas rustler and an Arrma granite. The maverick does have a lot of issues, its durability i must say is very bad. To anyone thinking about purchasing this as a first rc i would advise him to pick a rustler or a big rock/granite. Much more durable and faster. I have to be honest though, the fact that i had to do so many repairs on the maverick did force me to learn a lot about the hobby. If you decide to purchase this stay on 2s. The chassis just cannot handle 3s.
Nice I got the Plus..I hear the axels on this version need upgrading to the Plus HD axels or for now take off the little washers behind the hexs and replace with 12mm washers
Was really tempted by one of these for the kids but read quite a lot of criticism of the durability for day to day bashing, let alone skate park action. Interesting you make the comparison to the granite as in the end I held on a couple of months and got the Big Rock instead which, servo aside (replaced under warranty) has been absolutely bullet proof. I do love the Flux’s looks and the HD plus version is even better looking.
I have the Plus it’s awesome, but I had center diff failure, 5 days old. Breaks aren’t an issues, it’s expected. The availability for the parts unique to the Plus is the real issue. Man the rig is sweet though. Very unique pitch to it as it’s taking off. We NEED the PARTS to COMPETE. I have a Senton V3 Widen, and I still love XT+. I actually widen the Senton after driving the Plus because it handles so well.
Gm gm looks like a nice truck , look like he really enjoyed running the truck. Hes going to be following in your steps in no time also great review.....hope you have a BLESSED weekend
Good morning, Mr. Jabar! He mos def loves the truck and rc vehicles! He is the reason I got back into the sport. It’s all his fault, lol. Thanks for always giving me positive feedback, you have a blessed Easter weekend as well. See you soon on the next episode. 🤝🤝🤝🏎👊🏽🏎🤝🤝
@@moerc yes np at all you deserve all the best bro....and iam getting my son into it also i had the vkar bison v1 and gave it to him and he loves it... I really didnt want to give it to him lol. Now my wife and daughters want one so iam getting my wife the kraton v5 and my daugthers big rocks ..iam waiting for the talion v5 for myself
these are great trucks.... i picked up a brushed version..the major issues are the lower suspension arms and the axles. the turnbuckles and the spur gear. i got all of that replaced and converted to 4s with a hobbywing 120amp esc with a turnigy 3665 3190kv brushless motor...also replaced the spur with a 39 tooth mod1 with a 12 tooth pinion...and the proline badland mx28 the wheelie bar is ajustable
Hey moe great to see you getting your son into RC he drives just like his old man a maniac 😜 I got the axial ryft and it's been a mission to get threw the battery pack as well it's been 3 partial runs it's fun when it works. Always happy to catch your runs/reviews ✌️🤝👍
Lol, yah he has adopted my crazy no nonsense wild driving skills for sure. He beat the mess out of this maverick. Actually, lol I did not break anything. It was him, hahahahahahahahaha. Your Ryft has been on a life long mission, too? Lol wow Always glad you are here my friend! Have a good day! 🤝🤝🤝🤝👊🏽👊🏽
Moe, nice little ripper, like it, looks great. Funny how kids have the knack for running into things like their little sister for instance lol. Like you said, something to think about the breakage with this truck compared to the stout Granite blx. Looking forward to a bash party with this one. The Typhon construction site would be a good test lol. 👍🤙
The bash party, it may be very short lived. Hahahahah. Dude my son wrecked this thing quickly. Lol Yah man, dude almost took out both them girls. Wth? Hahahahahahap
That rc was complete tested by the little guy💪🏼 He should have done the review for it haha. Dang it held up good to some of those cement hits. I’m sure any rc would break from those hits. The Granite hold up to any of that?
lol, Eskimo- Soon we will have a huge family heads up. He is mos def the aggressive driver out of the 4 kids. Hahahahahaha. HE was the reason I got back into the sport, after a long long time away! And my granite BLX v3, I have not replaced a part on it. Beat the mess out of it. Granite and Big rock my be my two most durable rigs. I just finally broke something, the bell crank on the big rock. Would love to see you do a 10 flip 65 Foot cliff combo with those two rigs. Hahahahahaah. See you soon buddy
I got one of these for my grandsons birthday today. Looking at this I’m thinking I made a huge mistake. He’s only 5 and he’s going to give it a beating. I bet it’s in the bin by the end of the day.
@@moerc Haha no it’s surprisingly good I watched some videos on how to service it. As long as he doesn’t hit anything it’ll be fine. I don’t mind playing with it either never had things like this when I was a kid. I’m 54 lol.
Looking at getting two of these for my son and I. I think the Arrma Granite would be a better option but it’s one of many hobbies/activities so the not sure price difference of two of them make a difference. Seems like HPI has addressed many of the problems as the one I’ve four says it comes with the HD drive shafts and axles. Also says it comes with an upgraded ESC. I’ve been out of the hobby for over twenty years and was a racer not a basher. Would you recommend this truck or just go for something more durable? Thank you for the review
U know, I read that the HpI was upgraded but have not driven it. So from my experience the the granite BLX is more money but man I have never broken a part on it and have bashed it pretty hard. Also, the electronics, parts availability and over ease of repair makes it one of my favorites. The Arrma BLX 3s line is the best on the market. As you know, in life, you get what you pay for lol. Happy new year to you! 🤝🤝💪🏎🏎🤝
OBVIOUSLY that kids gona DESTROY that beautiful RC... He doesn't even know how to drive it.. U can tell What a SHAME under age kids should never touch a brushless rc.. Crap 👎
That's not a toy rc for a little kiddo, sir. He can hurt somebody or himself. Cheap doesn't means "for underaged kids", specially when the "cheap" thing reaches speeds of 40+ mph.
This truck sucks. I've bent every single driveshaft and I have been pretty nice to it. Parts support is horrible. I regret my purchase. Now there's something wrong with the front diff apparently. Cheap and weak. Never again. My Granite BLX 4x4 brushless v3 is sooo much better for only $100 more.
Rc enthusiast. Bro I'm planning to buy this truck, its really that sucks as u describe? Should I collect more money and buy maybe a Traxxas? What do u think?
@@petya5314 Absolutely. Traxxas would be a much better choice my friend. The plastics and hardware used on this little truck SUCK. Get yourself something like a rustler or a Hoss (Hoss is expensive, but way more durable and can actually take 3s). This little truck cannot take 3s. On 2s is fine, but it's pretty weak when jumping it. Even little jumps are a problem. I guarantee you that you will end up spending as much money on tho truck compared to a Traxxas in the long run to make it half decent. I had to spend like $100 extra in HD parts on the axles and axle ends and that still doesn't solve the issue with weak plastics, diffs and hardware. So yeah, I don't recommend it.
I know someone who's 18 month old kid was hit with a 1/10 RC truck, it smashed her leg........good platform to market your complete lack of parental responsibility....!!!!!! Enjoy the toys, but FFS keep little kids out of the way..........at all times
Great truck for the money, had mine for over a year and only had to replace the spur gear, (went for the metal spur) and I had to tighten a few things up.
