This video involves the repair of the power supply board by resoldering some connections that over time have broken loose from the circuit board. It resolves a clicking on and off issue. It is not caused by the Samsung capacitor problem. BN44-00159 BN44-00161 BN44-00188

I just wanted to say Thank You! This exact model Samsung television was given to me by a friend after he paid to have it repaired. The technician said he replaced a capacitor on the PCB and had it up and running. Within a week the television went south again, prompting my buddy to give it away. I picked it up today, came straight home & searched RU-vid finding your video. After 10 minutes of laying down new solder in your recommended areas, I have a functioning 42" for $0.00. Great advice!!!

This fixed the problem completely for me! Just did the repair work last night, I replaced 2 bulging capacitors but the problem continued. Pretty much exactly followed this video, resoldering anything on a heatsink and it has been working perfectly ever since!

You sir are my hero. After 9 years with this tv I figured it was time. Mine was loose the same as the video. Fixed the solders and she runs like new. Been a couple hours now. I almost threw it away. Thank you so much for the video

Does your set happen to have fuzzy horizontal lines that slowly scroll/move upwards when there is a dark image on your screen? It happens with ours. You can see it the best on a black image, but you can't even notice it on a lighter image. We've used it a lot, and I have even fixed it before after it developed the "clicking on-off" problem. I'm trying to figure out if it's from aging or what.

After inspecting the same solders on the circuit board with a cheap hand-held microscope, It was kind of fun to take just the circuit board to my local TV repair shop and tell them what I thought was wrong (complete with a Post-It note with arrows). I DID give this video credit and it was spot on! $50 repair (2 capacitors also bulging a little) sure beats having to buy a new TV. THANKS!!!

I have been working on my Samsung for some time now, I replaced all the capacitors on the power supply to no avail! So I found this video and found that this is what was wrong with my Samsung Plasma as well. Soldiered it up and it worked. My TV is now fixed! Thanks for this video. To everyone with the same tv and power on and off issues try this first before assuming capacitors! Thanks!!

I found this video after finding out my tv broke just after the window closed for me to get it fixed on Samsung's dime in the class action lawsuit. I was about to throw it away but with the help of a friend and this video I was able to get it fixed. We inspected all of the solder points but couldn't find anything so we decided to resolder the first couple of points he indicated. Once we started it was apparent that it needed it. Thanks for the post. Saved me from having to buy a new TV.

Thanks for this video. After weeks of clicking on and off, I was ready to get rid of my Samsung HPT4254. Before dropping the cash for a new set, though, I checked out videos about the bad capacitors. But all my capacitors looked okay and there are so many of them on the board I wasn't going to randomly guess. So, again, I was ready to get rid of the set. But, last minute, I found your video and figured "Why not, worst I can do is break an already broken TV." With a magnifying glass and a little time, it turned out that the *exact* same pin you identify at 3:20 in your video was the problem. I'm no electronics expert but I do have a soldering iron and, with a little care, even my slightly messy soldering totally cured the problem. Has been working perfectly since.

i found the same exact model. i turned it on and it worked perfect for like 10 minutes then it shuts down and goes back on when i unplug it and plug it back it. it also makes a clicking sound like on top back of TV. a tv repair guy wants to give me $20 bucks for it .im reluctant to sell it so cheap especially when i need a flat screen gonna look into those soldering points under heat sink. will let u know.

This video certainly aided me in fixing this exact problem but not instantly. The first symptom I diagnosed was a capacitor that was slightly swollen and bleeding a yellow drop on the top. I removed the 1000 micro Farad, 25volt capacitor and measured it with a Multimeter which confirmed it was faulty at about 370 uF's. i replaced it with a 1000 uF, 35volt capacitor, yet my symptom still remained. the next thing i did was re-solder every component on the heat sinks (just like the video recommends). I put the board back in it's home, powered it up and an hour and half later, the TV was working!

Just watched this video because I have this tv with some caps that are squeezed out. I have the kit, and a decent weller solder pen but never done any soldering on small components. TV clicks when it gets turned on but nothing more. I would have liked to seen you actually doing some soldering and maybe some of your setup. I will check some of your other vids and subscribe. You may have some videos that demonstrate what I'm looking for. I'd like to learn to do more of this type of work. Thanks for sharing.

Great video, Thank you! I have an HPT4264X/XAA I'm trying to fix and it appears to have the exact same power supply board as this video shows. It was having the issue you described here in this video, but then unfortunately it went a step further and had a loud pop and never would come back on, constant PS cycling. will not turn on anymore. Upon inspection i found 1 capacitor swelled on the power supply board. I removed the board and found that same transistor/fet you had to resoldier in this video had been smoked, traces blown. I ordered the parts from Mouser, cleaned up the traces and reattached. I've gone threw and checked voltages, not getting but a tenth of a volt at the ac checkpoints and the 5v/12vdc areas I'm getting 8/10ths of a volt. Ive gone through and done solder work on all the areas you showed in this video too, still no go, clicking away. Any suggestions? Thank you, I appreciate you and what you're doing here.

Your post tells my story to a t. the blew out and left a large burn mark o the back panel. I replaced it nothing But now the other fet is shorted I have yet to get replacement part. Other than all these cracked solder joints,What might be the cause of this. Fortunately I have 2 of the same tv the other one was repaired with caps only. It has worked for 2 more yrs.but has now started to flicker the screen and turn off for a couple seconds with the sound still working. I turned down the brightness and the color and it's not turning off now but minor flicker when displaying bright scenes. I hope to find a solution too

Thank you for your helpful videos. I am having a similar issue with my LG 55 la6200. The picture and sound cut on and off suddenly, followed by a popping sound. After leaving the tv unplugged for several hours the set cycles "on" as soon as it is plugged in without using the power button. These cycles are now very rapid without much picture or sound in between. I'm thinking it's the power supply. I am interested in your opinion. Thank you!

Thanks for this video. My Samsung just crapped out on me. It had been doing the turn off with the cycle click on and off. it would turn on unless I unplugged and replugged the TV. Its a PN60E7000. I just took the back off it and I was hoping it would be a blown cap because that is where my knowledge ends for this kind of stuff. I gave it a one over on the back and I couldn't see any loose connections. do you think there is something I missed or is there anything else I can look for? you used a lot of terminology I'm not familiar with so I would appreciate any help. I really feel like I could fix it if I knew what to look for. thank you!

Have a 50inch model with exact same power supply board. It has an occasional delayed startup, i.e. hit the button and it will start 15 minutes later. Once it is on it stays on. Not sure if I will be able to tell by checking voltages since it only has the problem intermittently. Since this is one of the models with known bad caps, Im thinking it might be the caps, going to try swapping them out but Im not sure which ones I should replace. Have two identical TV and opened up the working one (intermittent one is wall mounted and need a friend to help), but dont see any bulged ones. Seems like the 6*1000uf/25v and the 2*2200uf/10v are the common ones to go out so I plan to swap them, but not sure if I should swap any of the other 21/29. Was considering following options: 1) Just replace the 1000/2200uf caps 2) Replace #1 plus the other

TV Model: Panasonic vierra 42" Model TH-42pD60U year 2006 Comments: i had an issue with the blinking code(7 blinks of death) so i replaced the SC and SD & SU buffer. Now my tv turns on with no problem , however it turns itself back off for about a minute, then back on for about 30 seconds. Also i need to disconnect the plug from the wall outlet for a while, otherwise it will not turn on, another word the relay will not click unless it is unplugged for a while! I checked visually for blown or inflated Capacitors/filters on the power supply but everything looks good! and now i also got no sound... please let me know if you have any suggestions for me to test. I also tried soldering everything that is mounted on a heat sink + capacitors like you showed on your video, but the problem remains the same!

Soldered it and touched up the leads on all the semis on that heat sink, put it back together and it arced again. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you give me some advice on fixing this exact tv. The fuse keeps blowing out. I noticed spark always comes from the diode DP801. I tested it and its shorted. I don't plug anything to this powerboard except the ac connection. Everytime i plug in the ac plug the spark comes out of the diode and electricity in my room goes out. I have to go to the circuit breaker every time. Where can I buy this exact diode? How do I look for these parts? Where do you live in norcal? lol

If it should be able to run from about 80 volts to whatever the main filter caps will tolerate. You will have to do the math based on the rated voltage taking in to consideration the 1.414 multiplication rule when rectifying ac to dc without power factor correction. What is the back label of the set say as far as voltage?

I had the same problem. After inspecting all contacts of each component using heat sinks I found a suspect, which didn't even look like it had a crack or anything. However, I checked if it was moving at all and it was moving slightly. After I resoldered it the problem disappeared. I also resoldered many other suspected contacts.

I have been extremely happy with my HP-T4254 until tonight. It's switching on and off on it's own just like this one. I hope to be able to fix it as easily as you have this one. I don't own a soldering iron, so I'm going to have to pick one of those up first. I did call Samsung before watching this video and they said it may be a bad capacitor, and might be covered. I don't know... I have to call back to the "capacitor dept" tomorrow. If they have a department dedicated to bad caps, then that's not a good thing imho. Caps are so cheap. Why don't they just use Polymer, or Ceramic instead? Electrolytic caps are just asking to fail, imo.

Im having the same problem and when I opened it up its the same lose pins! Only difference is the black thing the come out of on the other side looks like it "exploded" both side pins where they go into the plastic broke out. I have no idea on this stuff, would you happen to know what that part is called and if I need to replace or just secure the lose pins?
@norcal715
@norcal715 4 года назад
If it is "exploded" then it and probably some associated components would have been damaged and need replacing also. Otherwise the new one would most likely blow up instantly. The blown part is a FET, field effect transistor.

When tv shuts down the standby voltage is good only 5,3v is 0,6v and 12v is 0,6 volt. Al capacitors are good. Do you have experience with this problem. Thanx

Is it possible to get the cover off without taking off the base mount.? I'm afraid to remove all the bottom screws and have the tv tumble off the base mount..

I think on this model you can remove the back without removing the stand

Yes,I took a chance and took the screws out, stayed on the stand.Unfortunately, the first two solder points were fully intact,so will have to look over the rest of the board.Hopefully it's not a bad componant or a problem with any of the other boards in the set.

I have the same power supply (Numbers match) What I like to know is the power supply able to handle 240 volts (I am in Australia)? I noticed on my board it supports 110 - 240 volts. My Samsung has the same issue, but on mine the display is not working.

Have replaced capacitors and re-soldered the same pins he did and still nothing, just clicking over and over again trying to turn on

can you explain to me why the back cover is hard to remove? I tried on my tv but it's stuck as if it has a screw mounted on the back. Also when I check I see no extra screw, I removed all of them and It's stuck in the Center. Thanks.

Mine did the same thing...there are two hex screws around the 'PC IN' input (blue input) on the back. Use a cresent to get them off...then the cover will come off easily.

Hi guys. I have problems with my power board as I found one mosfet cracked FQP9N50 and I have changed them both and another one was dead SD20N60, KA7815E, I have change them both but stil doesn't turns on. I have a click but not loud enough and I don't know why? I have checked the diods in those areas but they are fine. Tonight I will take all the diods and transistors off from the radiator to check them. Any ideas? Cheers

Inspect every single component connected to radiators on the back of the powerd board. If you see a micro ring on a pin you should resolder it. You can only see it if you have a magnifying glass and a lot of light. If you find nothing then resolder every pin anyways. However, I guarantee you will find at least one suspect. Trust me, your TV has no problems with components. It is just one of the pins of components like a mosfet or any other heat affected component is lose and has no contact to the board while it appears that it does.

Taras Zvir Hello and thank you for your info. I managed to fix the TV but when I've tried to measure some voltages I have shorted the mosfets legs and since than I'm struggling to find the problem.

Cristian, You don't need to take diodes out to check them. After you check each diode check capacitors. Start with small ones around the area of your past problems. Remember that bad capacitors in many cases will not have any visible signs of the problem. So, get yourself a meter that measures capacitance, desolder them one by one (don't pull them out hard or you will pluck out their legs) and measure their capacitance against their values. Replace any of them that have less than 20% from indicated capacitance. When you do replace them, make sure you get capacitors with the same capacitance, but with higher voltage. They will last longer. I hope it helps, Taras

Taras Zvir Thank you again for info. I had some dead smd transistors on the controllers pcb and the chips as well and I've change them but still doesn't work. I've measured the diodes and capacitors and they are ok but I don't know if the controllers are ok or not as I don't have a spare ones to see the difference between them. Today I bought from ebay a power source damaged and I will fix that one as this one was rubbish. It will take 2 weeks to come from USA as I'm in the UK. I don't want to buy a good one as I want to fix it. :) I will let you know when its ready. Cheers

Taras Zvir Hello. I've got a power source from USA as the old one was too damaged. I paid £20 for this one and I've started checkings but it's doing my headings. I will replace the smd resistors and diodes near the mosfets as they are ok. I hope I'll find the problem. Do you know if the USA board its using different power? I know that they have 110V? Thanks

Hi my pn58b540s3fxza keeps turning off on its own. Doesn't try to power itself on like most problems I see online but just turns off after it's been in awhile. Sometimes it turns off right after it is turned on, sometimes it goes a whole 30 mins, if left idle, it was on all night once. I really Don't know what to do at this point. Should I replace the whole power board?? Please help!!!!
