You forgot to say the bore needs to be thoroughly cleaned between different grades of abrasive compound. Washing-up liquid & water, finishing with something like de-natured alcohol (surgical spirits).
£52 and the kit comes with only two rods and ten patches, all of which have to be destroyed when they are torn off the super-glued rod (£17 for ten new patches). Think I'll give that a big miss.
you can also just buy the laps, buy 8 different grade compounds for 5 dollars and make your own rod. Also if you are more careful you can easily take the laps of without destroying them and reuse them.
yeah it kind sucks bc the kit with multiple compounds which are obviously better are really expensive if you one have one barrel. i feel like he would sell more if they were PEL. just easier for the casual tech looking to try something out. on his site he hinted to them though.
yeah thats what i figured because manufacturing cost is probably still very high so early in production. but hey man if you can get your hands on any PELs let me know
valleyriverarms When you have a patch installed I guess that the BB is locked somewhere on the patch when it is chambered and that is where the spin is applied anyway so perhaps only the part of the barrel past the patch needs to be very smooth anyway? I'm just worried about a problem caused by the entire barrel not being lapped. Might try it then. It'd probably be more difficult than lapping the traditional way but better than re-doing the patch.
the lapping is supposed to improve the surface finish of the top of the barrel which the bb rolls on after spin is applied. For that reason I don't think the window area necessarily needs to be lapped.
valleyriverarms I suppose you're right. I can't believe I completely forgot about the fact that the BB is known to roll across the top :/ Thanks for the help nonetheless.
I have heard that you can... But it's a coated barrel so you would most likely scrape off the teflon coat so I'm going to say no. You would better off getting a ZCI or other kind of stainless steel or brass barrel and lapping.
Depends. I would say it boosts performance period but it depends how much you hate your current accuracy. You'd probably be fine without it but it doesn't hurt.
