2X All American and Pro LAX player Kevin Crowley shares his 8 drill wall ball routine that has made him one of the best stick handlers in the game. The new technology of the HSTs make it a training tool that has the ability to increase shot velocity, hand speed and reinforce proper mechanics. Some companies have released weighted shafts, but these shafts actually change your fundamental movements and create bad body mechanics! And no one wants to take the head off one stick, put it on another shaft, then switch back. The coolest part about the HST is that they don't require you to change your practice. You just put them on and go to work.
No matter what your sport...if speed and strength are part of higher performance then the new technology of the HSTs will make you better.

I started wall ball in 1963 after watching Jimmy Lewis do it at Uniondale High School on Long Island. We had wood sticks.

Thanks so much for this video. It is totally what I was looking for to share with our team. I've been out of lacrosse for 18 years so I'm trying to get back up to speed. Things have changed so much in terms of sticks.

Oddly enough those defects in the wall will sharpen your reflexes more. Get down to a handball court where the surface is smooth and predictable. Good luck!

Which one will make me a better player, having a better stick, or getting a rebounder?
@jacksongraham6861
@jacksongraham6861 8 лет назад
Neither will make you better, instead of a rebounder i would look for a brick wall or some kind if wall to through against. A new stick will never improve the player, but how well you are able to use the stick.

Question... As a coach of beginners/young kids (and never played myself), we teach our beginners that they should catch with the top hand high (almost at the stick head) and slide it down to throw. Why does no one incorporate this hand movement into wall ball/rebounder drills (other than a quick stick drill)? I get that as you get better catching you don't need to slide your hand up as high and the it will slow down how fast you can then release the ball but shouldn't a repetitive drill like wall ball really be all about hammering into your brain the basic fundamentals? Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering why no one seems to put an emphasis on this point, especially since the ones who are watching these videos are most likely beginners. Am I doing it wrong?
@sophiepearson2589
@sophiepearson2589 6 лет назад
Richard Fix you actually are not supposed to hold the shaft near the head as it restricts movement when you catch the ball, they should hold their top hand about just above the middle and their bottom hand not right at the bottom of the stick but about 20 cm below the top hand
@kevincrowley98
@kevincrowley98 5 лет назад
When you're teaching a beginner its important to have the top hand right under the head because it makes it easier to track and catch the ball. As the player progresses they can slide their hand down the stick because it is more efficient to the throwing/shooting hand placement
@steveflanagan5027
@steveflanagan5027 5 лет назад
I agree with Kevin Crowley. The beginner will have the most control with his hand up by the plastic. Please... encourage the young player to allow the ball to push his stick head back so that he learns to have soft hands. We definitely don't want kids snatching at the ball by moving their stick forward.

I'm so sick of RU-vid commenters saying 'you would never do that in a game.' If you've ever played an organized sport, you realize that 95% of the things you do in practice, no matter what the sport, you probably won't do in a game.
@Caelc15
@Caelc15 9 лет назад
Fail routine with no work on opposite hand. I could do everything he is doing with both my right and left hands after only playing for 2 years. You should be able to switch hands and catch instead of the one hand catch or catching on a cross over. In fact, that is what you should be doing, not that crap.
@mattkanavan2660
@mattkanavan2660 9 лет назад
Are you serious? One hand catches build eye hand coordination and improve catching skills. Of course you wouldn't use it in a game but it improves your in game skills. And plus it is also pretty much common sense to practice using both hands.
