Hudson Hornets were painted with lacquer paint, not enamel. I can't believe the owner did not know how to open the hood. Hudson Hornets are incredible cars. My dad had a 52 Hudson Hollywood Hornet with the Twin H, fast car for the time. Won Nascar for 3-4 years straight.

@@RusticTrends I can usually remember things, for a time, then I forget them again. What I can always remember was how to lift the hood of any cars I've owned. I'm a motor-head, what can I say.
My Mother and Father owned 2 Hudson's a 1950 Pacemaker sedan. My Mother and Father traded the Pacemaker for a 1952 Hudson Hornet Sedan. In late 1958 the Hornet was involved in an accident. The Grill and front bumper were damaged. They decided to scrap the car because parts were difficult to get. This is what the body repair shop said at that time. My Father always said it was the best car he owned

My dad owned one of these old vintage mobiles,. back in the mid 50’s or so. It’s the 1st car hat I can remember. I was born in Oct of 1952. I remember climbing up & lying dwn in the loft of the rear window. It was one hell of a wide & sturdy shelf like platform. I wld lie dwn on my left side & look out the back window as my dad wld be driving this BIG sob of a vehicle. It was VERY heavy,. so heavy if on who was driving ever was to hit a Sasquatch/BF,.. I just know that this Hudson/Sub sandwich looking vehicle cld of easily run over BF & would of Killed the beast EASILY. Lots of incredible memories watching this here video. Some of the earliest memories of mine
Hey John. I’m sure your dads was cool. I’m glad you like the video. I hope you have subscribed to my RU-vid channel. Just trying to make my RU-vid family grow. Have a good one
"Barn Find" apparently means something altogether different now, than it did in the Eighties... When we were actually finding halfways decent old cars in actual, abandoned barns... My brother and I found a rotting barn about three miles away from our folks house in Texas... We lived North of Houston in the Eighties, when it was still rural... Now it might as well be Houston Proper. Anyhow, the barn was about 1/4 mile off of the road and in a thicket. The house had long since fallen into itself. Inside the barn, among all kinds of cool stuff like farm equipment and horse equipment... There was a 1927 Packard touring car... Long wheelbase. We found out who owned the property, he was an OLD dude... In his early nineties. He told us that if we could get the car out of the barn without killing ourselves, we could have it. We ended up having to find a guy with a boom crane to put straps underneath it and lift it out and over to the solid ground... The barn was built into the side of a hill and was so rotten, if we pushed the car across what was left of the floor, it'd probably have gone right through. It's front and rear axles were directly over two floor joists... And those were iffy, too. Long story longer, we got a free touring car to play with... It was REALLY ROUGH and we made parts for the body ourselves in some cases... But it made a fun, BIG hotrod.😁
What a beautiful and solid car. I sure wish Hudson had survived. I've read Hudson's obituary many times but I'd like to go back in time and be there in 1953 to see for myself what car buyers thought and why Hudson sales dropped so much.
Hey Bix Yes it is a great car. It was great to even be able to lay my hands on it. Such great cars. I wish they would have kept going with them. Im glad you like my video. I hope you have subscribed to my RU-vid channel. Just trying to make my RU-vid family grow. Thank you for watching
Hi Hank Yes it did sell. The car was a great find. It was great to even see the car and out my hands on it. I hope you have subscribed to my RU-vid channel. Just trying to make my RU-vid family grow. Merry charismas
Hi Paul. I was thinking that’s what they were for. It was so nice to be able to see and touch that car. It’s the first one over ever seen. Wow what a car. I hope you liked the video. And have subscribed to my my channel. Just trying to make my RU-vid family grow. Thank you for watching. And leaving a comment.
That Twin H Power setup, gave the flat 6 a boost (somewhat) in HP over the more plain models...180hp was pretty good in 1953....that guy "helping" you seemed like a real jerk!
There was the X7 engine with a beefer camshaft, larger valves,3 speed on the tree(column) with overdrive. It would put out 210hp. Pretty impressive for 1952&1953 models.
@@Paul-sl1si They did provide Hydramatic with the 7X.Herb Thomas, the winningest Hornet NASCAR driver, used Hydramatic on the track according to his mechanic Smoky Yunick saying in his book. However you could not get the Borg-Warner automatic( Hydramatic plant burnt down 8/1953) for1954 models because it was not up to the job
The car is in New York. In Java NY. I put the video on for a friend that is selling it. So if you want to e mail me your info. I can pass it on. You can e mail me at. Detailguy2@aol.com
The 1953 Hudson is my least favorite of the post-war step-down Hudsons as I don't like the faux scope that is positioned much too far upfront, nor the elimination of the chrome triangle on the grille. They should have introduced the '54 model in '53 instead of going a third year with the same basic design as the '51 model. It was also a very poor seller with only 66,000 Hudsons sold that year but with 21,000 of them being the new Jets; so only 45,000 larger models went off the dealers' lots which was a big drop from 131,000 two years previously. There were probably even fewer than that actually sold as the company was forced to introduce its new model early that year due to abysmal sales. Hudson lost $10 million in 1953 after making $8 million the year before and as a result of the economic bleeding was forced to merge with the much more healthy Nash/Kelvinator Company to form American Motors. 😕
Hello. There is a lot I don’t know about the history of the Hudson hornet. Thank you for the information on it. It was gray to even see the car. There is not a lot left. Just to be able to see it. And put my hands on it was a treat. I hope you like the video. And have subscribed to my RU-vid channel. Just trying to make my RU-vid family grow
@@kickinghorse2405 Thank you for watching my video. Yes the 53 is great also. It was just great to be able to put my hands on the car. Not many like in that shape. I hope you have subscribed to my video. Always trying to make my RU-vid family grow. Have a good one.
I've never heard that the Shriners are a branch of the Mason's. One usually think of the former helping kids etc., never thought of the latter being a charitable organization.
My brother in law is a Shriner. They do a lot of great work for kids who need medical help. You should watch the video I did on a barn find caddy. That is another sweet car
