Plant vs Herbivore II: Bigger, longer, and in linear time. Final evolved image (full resolution) at livingcomputation.com/519743.png See robust.cs.unm.edu/doku.php?id=... for details and ULAM source code for this model.
looks like it convered to 100% plants 0 predators. I guess a good state for the plants is to be in many small chopped up cells of different color rather than large gradual blooms, predators can co-evolve their color requirements easily to 'keep up' with the changing food in the latter.
That would definitely be cool to see! I also imagine what would happen if the food chain were longer; i.e., if there were carnivores that fed on the herbivores, more carnivores that fed on the first level of carnivores, etc.
Who else thinks that a longer video like this could get a ton of views? I've seen "ambience videos" get millions of views before, and I think this kind of stuff could be right up there with them.
I think this guy would love evolve 4.0 (not the new game that came out) It's an evolution sim, and it's the most deep one I've ever seen, but unfortuneatley, it gets no attention. The website has long been down, but the sim is on github still: github.com/ckuhn203/Evolve I've spent so much time on this trying to get cool things to evolve, and some organisms evolved to live in colonies, it's really cool. I also learned quite a bit of evolution from this, when I took my bio class, some of the terms reminded me of how my simulations ran.
I did some stuff like this too, but I think Dave's got the edge on pretty much everybody. It's not just the simulations but the ideas and how he expresses them!
