Welcome to a reimagined video!
This was my best day finding agates to date, and in my original video I wanted to show it all, and not wanting to cut it up into parts as I think it would've deterred from the experience.
However, that made the video very long.
So while the video is still quite long, simply because I found so much, I did end up being able to cut it down more than half, leaving mostly bigger agates that I think were worth showing.
In future this is an approach I want to continue.
The original video:
• The Agate MOTHERLODE! ...
The video of my finds that day:
• The Agate MOTHERLODE! ...
Thank you for watching!
Tot de volgende keer
(Until next time)

7:50 Freaking gorgeous. i wish i lived near a place like that. I can find sea glass on the Florida beaches, but nothing like that

Thank you, it certainly is! From what I know about finding stuff in Florida, you can find amazing calcified shells out there, some even having crystal pockets.

Nice findings😊 The name of your channel lured me in. It made me wonder, where does a Dutch man find his agates? I only find lots of agate wannabees in The Netherlands😂
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates 8 месяцев назад
I bet that raised an eyebrow seeing the channel name, haha! There are a lot of agates in America, however I did also look up where to find them in the Netherlands. And apparently they are carried down into the Netherlands from the Alps in the Rhine river. Then, sand harvesting companies sift out the rocks containing the agates. Meaning that all agates are on private property needing permission from these companies to search the rock piles. I hope that helped and thank you for watching! Hopelijk zie ik je in de volgende video 😄

Some of these look like amber to me, not chalcedony or quartz based agate. I'm out rockhounding in CO right now but I bet you could tell by the harndess. So I don't know. But those yellow guys around here are all amber- very common to see them folded like that, also.

Very interesting, I am quite confident they're carnelian and chalcedony though. I don't think amber's found around here (correct me if I'm wrong of course).

It was an amazing day, and I can't wait to do it again! The Oregon coast is beautiful if anything, so it's automatically a good day being out there. Thank you for watching!

Yeah, If they're a decent quality (nicely silicated) and a nice color I'll take them still. They are very pretty!

I'm sure, I love doing most of my rockhounding during cooler months, mostly because I don't like being hot but it is also when gravel gets churned around most.

At 21:25 you find a little orange one. To the southeast of that one, the one with little holes. That looks like agates we see in Minnesota. Do you know what that is? I've seen tons during your video. I'm also watching on my cell phone so it might look totally different in person. ❤

@DutchmansAgates Год назад
Great question. Judging from the video and knowing what's usually out there, I think it's yellow jasper. It also looks pretty silicated, there's definitely a lot of it. Jasper and chalcedony are both silica, and it's not uncommon to find jasp-agates, or jasper agates. If you slice them open they could be very pretty! I tend to pick up the ones that show it on the outside though, otherwise I'd be cutting up the whole beach lol.

Do you have any agate hunting tips?
@DutchmansAgates
@DutchmansAgates Год назад
Yes, absolutely. Coastal hunting you want to look for beaches that have gravel of course, but also that it gets hit by the tides to churn around the rocks. When checking out a new beach look for indicator rocks like jasper. Do a Google search for areas that are known to have agates, then look for a spot that has gravel using Google maps. That's pretty much all I do. I hope it helps!
